...Cant you buy a brand-new SRT-10 Competition from Dodge for less than $375K?
Depends.

You have to be a pro- or semi-average racer with creditionals. Afterwards, it all depends on what you want on it. It'll cost around $100,000 from what I hear just for the base job. It's why most drivers but it just plain, and then add everything themselves.

It's a pretty cheap race car really, but then again, it minuses a lot of the "comfort" options.

All this money :scared:

Whatever happened to settling for plain old Matchboxes and Corgi's :D

Didn't cost much either!!

 Well, yeah that makes more sense since most of these you won't be able to drive... at least on public roads. I have 3 versions. :sly:

Also good for the wallet :D

Ah, i reminded my self of my Burago E36 M3 - which my younger cousin helpfully tore the door off :grumpy:

Carclassic is great but you really need money to buy anything there.

The McLaren F1 GTR dbartucci showed me almost a year ago is still there.

The whole notion of buying a used racecar is interesting and yet completely stupid to me. There used to be an exotic dealer here in town that would buy and sell used NASCAR roadcars, which would be cool to have, but you wouldnt be able to drive it anywhere...

If there was ever a racecar that I would want to buy, it would have to be the Porsche 935...

If I had the means, I would piss away money on cars like these, and I would drive them on public roads occasionally (not in traffic of course). Realistically, how often do you encounter police cars on the road? And even if you get caught, how cool would it be to flip up the visor on your helmet, pull down the window net, and mumble "is there a problem, officer?" through your balaklava?

 I like your thinking dood and if I use today for example... a LOT. :scared:

As for the car, the funny part is it would probably be the safest car even though it's not "street legal", that is of course as you don't encounter a moron in a raised SUV/truck. :scared:

Believe me, you don't want to try driving a race car on the road. Rock soild suspension, on-off racing clutch, probably zero power under 5k revs, slick tires and absolutly no sound deadening is not a recipe for a good time. 👎

Okay, it's not like I have the money for it (then again, who does?), but pretty wicked how this bad boy is going on sale. The Dodge Viper is probably the hottest (then) GTS for about the entire 1990s. Kind of surprising is how few cars I've seen with that Oreca style light package for the car. You can take a look at the 2000 Oreca Viper for example, and you can note the extra fog lights. Sure, it isn't like you're going to use all the lights for a daily driver. My only decision would be if I want to collect it, take it to the track, or what.

For some reason, I seem to really be hooked to the 1990s in terms of sportscar racing. When Speedvision (now "Speed Channel") had on these wonderful sportscars in action, I wanted in. Apparentely, I've got into the racing too late as mostly NASCAR and other forms of Americana rule the airwaves. But still, anyone wins that Dodge Viper GTS-R... you got one hell of a car, homie.

Neither is having a $400,000 race car just sitting in the garage.

i wonder what a modern F1 car of today costs:rolleyes:

On Fifth Gear a few years ago a car enthusiast and amateur racer (Frank something), bought a modern Ferrari F1 car for £1.6 million. Bargain price considering they probably cost £4 or £5 to put together.
