Since it's the begging of the week, buy your first car If you already sold it, and make it your project car this week. Tell every what races you were able to win:D

i sarted a game yesterday, since my 100% card was corrupt.
so far:
18% complete with
- stock Celica 1991 GT-Four RC
- fully modified 1983 Toyota Trueno
- fully modified 1998 Mazda RX-7 RS
- fully modified 1999 Nissan Skyline R34 Vspec-II
- fully modified Mercedes-Benz E55 AMG
- fully modified RUF CTR2 Sport
- fully modified Jaguar XKR
- stock TVR Tuscan Speed 6

100% win ratio
$180,000

it doesn't exactly fit the parameters, but it posted anyway. i'll try and get an old Impreza Wagon as a "project car" next time i fire it up.

When I use "project cars", I tend to buy a car, and force it to earn its parts, then make it win sucessively harder races. So even if you have 4 million in the bank, after buying a car, you have "nothing left" to upgrade it.

My last project car has been the '96 Mitsu Mirage Asti RX. I wanted a car that looked like a Civic 2-dr coupe, so a blue used one did the trick. Not very exciting, I won all but two races with it.

1st: Mirage Cup/Seattle Circuit
- 5k; easy to win, handles easy, no difficulty at all.
1st: FF/Tahiti Road
- 5k + 7k prize car. Another easy win.
2nd: FF/Midfield
- '97 Pulsar was just the better driver.
1st: FF/Midfield
- 6k (saved Tom's T111 for future use). No Pulsar problems.
1st FF/Trial Mtn.
- 7k + ?k Prelude (sold). Ho hum.
2nd GT Cup/Red Rock
- by 1.0sec to a Supra RZ. Hard to hold up on the pit straight.
2nd GT Cup/Red Rock
- by 1.3sec to R34 V-spec. Another close battle but at least beat the RZ this time.
1st GT Cup/Red Rock
- 125,000 Daishin was enough to hard-tune (no race mod to the car) it completely. Beat a Vette GS and Supra RZ by under a second.
1st GT Cup/Grand Valley
- Surprizingly easy win; no mistakes and you can beat a Viper with this car.

* Update *
2nd GT Cup/Midfield
- No more upgrades, held on to 2nd place from midway through lap 1 but could never catch up to the Ruf Yellow Bird. The closest I got to it on sectors was about 1.4s, at the end of a straight, it was about 2.6s.
3rd GT Cup/Midfield
- Ruf No YB, but the Supra RZ and R34 teases me, and beat me on the straights. It's possible to hold up one car, but two? Doing okay, made a poor desparation shot at the lead in final hairpin, didn't work out.
1st GT Cup/Midfield
- Finally! Beat the RZ and the R34 in a fair fight. Made near-perfect laps, took final hairpin easily to prevent a mistake. Held up the Supra about 3 times down the final straight.

I'm not sure there's much more to win with only 229hp. Race-modding it won't help much either, so I left it in its stock blue color.

In short, an easy car to drive. I normally upgrade to full suspension, but a lack of credits meant I'd try the "sport option" instead. It wasn't a bad idea; you can only adjust camber and damper rates a little, but it was enough to win the GT-RRV race.

The difference between Sport and Full Race is staggering on a budget: 3k versus 20k, so it worked. The car runs out of steam quickly; NA Stage 2 upgrade is as far as it goes. Even then, it isn't much of an upgrade from Stage 1. But again, a fairly easy to control car on normal tires.

i had one on my last game, a white one, and i put everything on it that didn't give it hp. astoundingly quick.

The Inifni III is a neat little starter car.

I had a project '90 RX-7 Convertible about 3 weeks ago: a little more challenging to race the heaviest and least powerful FC; but a fun car nonetheless.

However, when it was all said and done; I was able to win the Tuned Turbo No.1 race at the Test Course; I was amazed that 2600lbs and 370hp could beat a Drag 180SX, but it did (with a very nice draft, of course)!

It wound up 3rd overall in the GT300 series, however. I couldn't get myself to race-mod it since it's the only green RX-7 (non-race versions, of course) you can find.

Thanks for spoiling it:P

wow, just had to say i'm impressed by beating that test course race with a '90 RX-7, a friend of mine won GT Allstars Laguna Seca with RUF CTR2 Sport, try it, it's not as easy as it sounds. When i do that project car kind of thing, it's usually when i want to try out something either weird and different, or something fast and different, and make the car earn it's own way, just like when you start the game. one of those rear wheel drive skylines is always fun, they handle great, just have a nice feel and sound to them, and they're surprisingly quick.

Project Car: Mazda RX-7 Savanna Convertible

202hp/3000lbs.
Used car purchased: Around day 180 or so...not exactly sure.
No lightweight, this FC. But it's Shade Green!

6th: RX-7 Meeting/Rome Night
- Hard to catch them with a weight disadvantage and no adjustable tranny (too tall gears). Spun out twice.

4th: RX-7 Meeting/Seattle Short
- Not enough power to catch the FDs, but I upheld FC class honors (beat an Inf.III and a GT-X). Bought a racing flywheel.

3rd: RX-7 Meeting/Trial Mountain
- Finally beat an FD ('96 Touring X).

2nd: RX-7 Meeting/ Rome Night
- Getting there! Have enough for that full-race tranny.

1st: RX-& Meeting/Seattle Short
- Take that! 10k makes that first-day Infini III a worthwhile purchase, doesn't it?

1st: FR/Clubman R5
- Easy win.

2nd: FR/SSR5
- Hmmm, close battle.

1st: FR/SSR5
- But not this time.

4th: FR/Midfield
- Lost it into first turn on 2nd lap. Doh!

1st: FR/Midfield
- Confidence helps. More upgrades, too.

1st: 80's/Deep Forest
- Very easy win. Didn't bother with rest of 80's races.

1st: Convertible Cup/Grindelwald
- Beat a Concept Car (always a rare sight!) to victory.

1st: GT Cup/Red Rock
- Easy.

1st: GT Cup/Grand Valley
- Same.

1st: GT Cup/Midfield
- A little tougher to beat the Yellow Bird, but quite possible. Got him under braking for the first turn of the last lap.

1st: Turbo No.1/Test Course
- Whoa! I was lying in 6th for the first two laps, was about 5-6 seconds back after each sector on first lap., During the second lap, I'm about 4.5 seconds, then 4.0s back during the second lap. Then, coming out of the first banking, I'm on the TRD 2000GT's butt. Drafted it, a Tom's Altezza pulled out in front of me to pass the RX-7 Aspec. That gave me another draft, I'm now 3rd. A Mine's Lancer was behind a Drag 180, sneaked behind it, and was up to 210mph (before, I was maxing out at around 190mph, just not enough)...pulled out behind the Evo, and was on the tail of the Drag car. It's about to enter the curve, and it slows up because it handles like an aircraft carrier...so I'm zooming up on it, doing 225mph! I pass it easily in the second-half of the embankment, and hold the 180 off for the lead just yards from the line.

1st: Turbo No.1/Deep Forest
- Battled with the Mine's Lancer for the last two laps, took him on the inside of the lefty after the last tunnel, he passes back and swings wide, I pass again on the outside, cut him off for the final left swoop (for which the AI always loses out).

3rd overall: GT300 Series
All good srtories must come to an end. No wins, but a few close 2nds (under 1s) at Laguna and Deep Forest. I couldn't bear race-modding the car, and maybe that prevented me from winning anything. (Maybe a copy of the car will help me in that respect!)

When all mods are taken into account, it's still the heaviest and least power-ful RX-7. This was a fun challenge, I never added an LSD or Brake Balance controller, because I thought it handled quite nicely under braking and acceleration.

This car was a little tough to get moving at first. You had to do a lot of careful braking, but like many cars, the two best upgrades for the car were the full-race tranny and suspension. The tranny shortened the gears, and the suspension made winning easier. This car also needsto lose weight, it goes down to 26xx lbs. if you don't race-mod the car.

Engine upgrades came later; I used around 202-270hp for all the races until the Turbo No.1 events, because no more power was necessary. A cheap starter upgrade was not the muffler, but the intercooler, interestingly enough. 3000Cr gave you quite a boost in performance. You can attain 370 hp with all engine mods.

The car did an admirable job, it was fun hauling it up the charts from loser to winner in the RX-7 meeting. For beginners, though, the Infini III and GT-X FC RX-7s are better tools for the job. They are great 1st-day cars for both GT2 and GT1, respectively. This one's for the those who play by the rules and just gotta have a Convertible with a 13B engine in it. For the toughest races, I'd recommend the '98 new cars with more power...but did I mention this car was green?
