Gran Turismo 6 coming to PS3

Forza 5 is going to come out on the next XBox. It's not confirmed, but dog on it, most of us know this to be true. Because of this, why would Sony/PD allow GT6, the main racing game series rival of Forza, to come out on PS3 making it look VERY bad against an FM5? GT6 would have to come out on PS4. Sony/PD can't take another hit like they took with Forza 4 (I'm sorry. I love GT5, but Forza 4 took by a slim margin this round).

If GT6 comes out on PS3, Sony/PD can pretty much watch Forza take over as THE console driving simulator king.

Forza releases on current gen: 2
GT releases on current gen discluding prologues: 1

I don't know. Seems to me that GT is due another title if we are going on this logic.

Three actually, four if you count Horizon.

I thought Forza released 3 titles on the 360?

D'oh! :dunce:

Totally forgot about Forza 2! (And I mean main numbered titles made by T-10)

Forget about what I said.

EDIT: Or we can include Prologue to save my blushes? :P

Not a particularly large amount of GT5's problems had anything to do with the hardware it was on rather than the design choices it was developed under.
Something tells me Kaz disagrees with you, Oh right, its because he does.
And I quote: "Kazunori also confirmed the PlayStation 3′s lack of memory was “a serious concern” during the development of GT5, saying that “we just have to do our best” to get what performance they can out of the hardware."
Pretty specific about it being hardware. (thanks another_jakhole for posting this link.

I do however completely agree that there is no way this is going to be a PS3 and PS4 game. And I again, agree with Toronado's reasoning. If you trumped it up for PS4, the PS3 couldn't hang, options wouldn't be do able, etc.. If you dumbed it down for the ps3, Then your going to miss out on the new things that would be doable with the PS4. And there is just no way Kaz would strip something from his beloved GT. Besides drag racing, 7th gear, FIA and DTM racing, etc.
On the other hand, I see lots and lots of potential for a Vita co-release. If that is even necessary, which it sounds like it may not be. Spot races from the subway or while chilling between classes. Run, and control Bobs. Tune and test cars for a league race later that night while at work... Its a shame really that the Vita is only 3g.

Anyway, thats all my speculation. PS4, if for no other reason then Kaz wouldn't do it again on the PS3, he's to OCD.

Well I only said E3 as that's when I expect GT6 to be announced but let me rephrase, I'm not saying any more on this subject until PD talk, whenever that may be.

If GT6 isn't announced at E3, that would be a major let down.

Three actually, four if you count Horizon.

Don't forget about GT HD when PS3 launched.

That's related to performance. Not design decisions, which is what I specifically said. Hardware concerns kept the game from consistently running at 1080p at constant 60fps. Hardware concerns caused the problems with shadows and alpha blending and screen tearing. That being said, those things are reasons that I would expect Kaz would not want to try again on the PS3.

Hardware concerns didn't put the level system in the game, or make the game structure in general so hopelessly linear. Hardware concerns didn't give online hosts so little options for setting up rooms. Hardware concerns didn't cause the Standard/Premium divide. Hardware concerns didn't make PD do such a poor job with the sounds when the sound engine itself is so good but the samples used are terrible.

I think you might actually be wrong on the sound front. There are few samples per car and they're very short and hence thin sounding. More memory would definitely help there. I don't think the Standards count, either, given they're just there to make up the numbers for people like me, unless you're suggesting PD were wrong to model to the high "Premium" level at all.

But yeah, they could have made more of what was in the game.

We don't know the next console specs, we don't know how both games will be so nobody can watch nothing until we see it happen. And we shouldn't discuss this here, I think...

Maybe they'll do a watchdogs thing and release it on both systems, that saying the ps4 version should be a heck of a lot better than the ps3 one.... But as the Sony exec said so, it should come on ps3, I'm pretty happy bout that, I just want a livery and no paint chips in gt6 as well as more premium cars in a larger
Variety- I'm good with nissans in gt5

You have a point here. If PD wants to be again on top of the class, PS4 is the way to go... For me, Turn 10 and Forza Motorsports already got that title with FM4...

Well, we kind of know the next console specs, but we don't know a damn thing about the game, we can only speculate until some leak comes to our ears.

PD isn't wise is it? First they say PS3 is outdated and they had hardware problems designing GT5, but they are leaving clues that we are going to see a supposed next gen game in PS3... humm doubtful.

I think Driveclub or whatever it's called is Sony's launch title to conteract Forza 5 anyway. If GT6 comes to PS4, I don't think it will be here in time to go up against Forza 5. If GT6 is on PS4 then I can see GT6 being released sometime in 2015 at the earliest, making it not so much a console seller as Sony wish. That's why I think it may make more $$ sense to release it on PS3 to rake in some cash and give more time for the PS4 version of GT7.

Just my opinion. I'll wait until an official announcement is made to make any judgement on the subject.👍

Based on what my brother told me once when I needed help fending off SimonK (still, he was imperative over the "fact" that a system's "power" doesn't affect how progressive/natural sounds are, to someone else :D) and on a GT-retrospective article made a few days ago, you're right.

Although Gran Turismo was the game Sony was looking for to show off the prowess of its debut home console, perfectionist Yamauchi was not fully satisfied with the end product. The developer conceded that the game maximised only 75% of the console's potential, believing compromises were made on the sound effects front.
^^ speaking of the first GT (obviously)

GT5 got a lot of sales though, certainly enough to keep Sony happy. T10 might think of it as a war for a crown but I don't get the impression that PD think that way.

There is also the fact that not many people will switch consoles based on this. Only those really keen will even get both games; for the majority they seem happy enough to stay with the console that they have - unless any gulf in development between titles grows steadily larger.

As for your last point - I think people would still wait until whatever PD releases on the PS4 before making that call.

It's not going to be restructured on PS3, that's for sure.
But, it absolutely can be because most of the issues/cons were not really related to how they built the game, but some of its features & design choices. Those can be re-worked for a more complete game. The obvious downside is that a percentage of content may be removed.

I've just asked Cleverbot the following question, "Will Gran Turismo 6 be released on the PlayStation 3?"

His/her/its answer ..

"Yes."

So I'm done with this speculation merry-go-round. Where can I pre-order?

One ban, numerous warnings and infractions and a hefty number of deleted posts are an indication that a good number of you seem to have forgotten the AUP you agreed to when you joined.

The staff do not care how emotive this subject may be for you, if members continue to ignore the AUP then they should be surprised if action is taken against them.

Get it back on track and follow the AUP when you post, the alternative is the door.

All of you who think it will be released on the ps3, can I respectfully ask when you think it will be? I'm guessing there is an idea it will be announced at E3 and then released before the ps4?

Personally I think x-mas of 2014 on ps4.

Yamauchi will come to the E3 stage and say "i know you waited so long and the PS4 is a great console, but we'll release GT6 on PS3.... You ask why? Because we can. Here is the trailer"

After the trailer "You want a release date? GT6 was released yesterday!!!!"

I think they'll announce GT6 soon if it is a PS3 game. Because the E3 will be about Wii U, PS4 and Xbox 720.
I still think it is a PS4 game.

Just my 2 cents

Man, why on earth would they NOT release it on PS3 soon, and PS4 later?

On PS3, it will be a big update (GT5Spec3): basically new cars and trackes. No new features at all. Easy to do as we all know they already work on cars/tracks for years.

That would bring them at least 50 millions $ guys... just for some cars and tracks. The only people involved are the modelers and sound engineers... who would basically work for PS3 and PS4 at the same time. (they will obviously use PS3 assets on PS4, as Kaz already said: their models are future proof... and they probably have versions of cars that are even more detailed than the photomode ones... from the very start)

PD programers are already working on PS4 for years! They were even involved in its conception.

So why on earth would a company not take the 50 easy millions $ (do you realise that it would help finance the cost effort due to the PS4 production/price?)...and, one year later, release GT6 on PS4? In all its glory.

Only smart choice here.

Especially as, since Forza, GT is not such a big system seller anymore. People used to have only one choice when they were racing sims fans: GT. Now they have another one (even if it is still behind GT in numbers, features, graphics, etc...): that's enough to neutralize the Gt-momentum. I m pretty sure it was MS's goal in the first place: not to beat GT, just to give an alternative: to be able to say: "we have it too". Which is the case: simple fact.

So... GT5Spec3 on PS3 very soon...

And GT6 on PS4 at the end of 2014.

Mark my words.

Money isn't everything. I don't just want new tracks and cars. I want better physics, better AI, faster load times, better fps, real racing rules(optional), more races for a spec, GT4 style B spec, bring back classic racing courses from GT4 and make some of the standard cars premium.
