Hi guys, first time poster here.

I thought it was fun to see them getting to mess around with the new game!

I've pre-ordered the anniversary edition from Game Stop so I can get as many goodies as possible. I jumped on the FM4 train when that came out, going so far as to pick up the CSR wheel which just blew open the doors on sim-racing for me as I previously only played with a controller, now I'm hooked!

But I'm getting bored with FM4 now, it's time for something new. Since Xbox One won't release here in Sweden till 2014 some time, plus them not supporting my CSR, even though it's frickin' Forza branded.. Enter GT6! I've got a PS4 on back order but they don't have any racing sims so GT6 it is!

For those of you still reading after my rant, I was wondering if any of you could shed some light on what they were referring to about using the clutch pedal, please. I enjoy using the clutch and H-pattern shifter, so is there any issues here that I should know about?

Thanks, Rick

For a couple of so called experts. They don't know a lot.

They don't know much about current console gaming but are some of the wisest and more experienced in publicly available simulators -the standard GT6 tries to achieve-, in racing games in general and in hardware as well. That means they actually know a lot more than the regular GTP user, which aren't experts by any means.

Knowing about a game in particular is not knowledge really, nor an expertize. They aren't hardcore fans, that's all.

At the same time it's great that the video shows how the game is played by non hardcore GT fans, without dodging the issues we all know already, and can judge the game in a more or less non biased manner.

Actually they knew sufficient enough about GT5 to appreciate some of the interface improvements, that SRF must be turned off and not to buy grippier tires. Those and the provided facts in the first paragraph mean they are more than capable enough to review the game, if not the most as they have the full picture.

It's been reported the clutch works exactly as in GT5, for better or for worse. It requires the pedal to be almost fully pressed in order to shift gears at all, which most people here don't really like considering that's not how it works in real life and for some is a major annoyance. Plus it's substantially slower than using the paddles (in forza it's the opposite especially with lower powered cars).

I see, thanks for the reply.

I'll be giving the clutch a try anyway of course. For me it's more about realism than speed, I like to try an drive the cars the way they were designed to be driven. So paddles for paddles and H-gate for H-gate and automatic for the lunar rover and Teslas lol!

I found it a bit funny, that it seemed that they weren't still aware that standards had returned again, as they believed the dubious press release saying there was no difference anymore, and then stopped the video just as they happened to buy a standard and were looking through the black hole in cockpit cam :D. Guess they weren't allowed to review that. Their remarks were great tough: "1200 cars and we have to start with a fit??" and "look at all those miatas"...

Sorry steve30x, I forgot to write that Pody they said there will be more rims, when watched the video "custom parts" I saw that there was nothing really really new. :)

Yes but they were just reading the literature that PD sent to them to read out. They said so more than once on the video.

Hi again, I was wondering why you mentioned them not buying grippier tires. Does it have something to do with another of Gran Tursmos' quirks that I'm not aware of?

Actually I'm thinking of starting a thread in the FAQs where GT veterans could lists the games quirks for newcomers like myself. You're welcome to chime in with any more good tidbits one should know about. https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/threads/gts-quirks-and-nuances.291330/

What I wanted to know is with the "media embargo" in place right now why did they put this out there anyway? Kind of tempting PD not to give them an early review copy again don't you think?

I was wondering the same thing myself. Inside sim racing didn't mention PD giving them any early rights.

Yeah, Giangi didn't even know the Autumn Ring Mini, he said: "Let's race this...Mini...something...oh, yeah, Autumn Ring!" And by the way, where in the hell is Jessica Lopez? I miss those boobies...

They moved to a different state about a year ago and its hundreds of miles away from where they were so she is no longer on the show.
