Gran Turismo 6 - The Role Playing Game.

Looking over what passed by my desk today brought home a realisation.
Gran Turimo now has a new rating. RP*. Just like DriveClub.
So we have two 'life-perception' simulators competing with each other, on different consoles . . . and all from the same source. It's like most of the competition buys from the Borg.
Now that's some heavy Marketing for you. Resistance is futile. You buy one. Or the other. Or both.

Yes, Gran Turismo 6 is going to be very interesting as a role-playing game, maybe even as interesting as DriveClub. Or even more, for some.
What do you think?

*That, of course, means Rating Pending and not Role Playing (as I first, in a most silly manner, thought ;) )

You are aware that RP stands for RATING PENDING(as in not yet rated by ESRB) and not ROLE PLAYING, right?

Ill accept that if GT6 Mobile looks like auto modellista while we manage ourgame play.

On a more serious note, and in actual answer to original post; Drive Club has been delayed, so now no immediate / direct competition with GT.

And now, of course, isn't my face red.

:ouch:

Thanks for letting me off so easy. :D

Yes, it means Rating Pending - why had I forgotten that - we aren't sure whether it's going to be E - though probably it is. I was rushing through my home office, grabbing a bite to eat before I hit the road again, and my first thought was - what? RPG? What's going on? Later on this evening, I did a major face palm - as in: WTF am I thinking.

But is GT5 evolving into an RPG? DriveClub has been touted many times as a 'social networking' game - again not sure entirely till the first reports come in - and noticeably Gran Turismo seems to bring in more and more RP-type scenarios into the game - from dressing up, to race-directing.
All the world's a stage - and there is no stage as attractive as the social-networking stage - and it is on this stage that we flaunt our avatars, our cars, our skills and personas, and Gran Turismo Online seems more and more to encourage that.
I like that myself.
Gran Turismo, to me, has had an unique flavour - the game for 'people who love cars', and there are so many things to do in it for people who love cars. DriveClub seems to be going in a direction more geared to social net-working. Forza, whose classification also seems to be pending, doesn't have that charisma about cars that Gran Turismo does.
So the thought that comes to mind (apart from the brutal marketing strategy that has been used here - guessing games right down to the wire) is will Gran Turismo eventually go that direction? Will we get to play house? Or at least garage? Will the avatars be given the freedom to move around as in an RPG? Is free-roam going to be the massive change we are expecting given the fact that finally the graphics of the environments seem to be matching the graphics of the cars themselves?
I'll be looking forward to those first reports of role-playing coming in.

Yeah, you should have just quit while you were ahead:lol:. You had me at, "isn't my face red?":sly:

Just wait till I get my invisi-suit on; I'll be coming after you.

As far as the 'rating' goes - yes - not a lot to guess about that - as far as the 'genre' goes is where I'm focused on -and is why my mind immediately took that track. Will it ultimately reach out as more than 'The real driving simulator' ?
How would we classify the game now? It still is obviously a racing/driving game - though many other facets of the game seem to expand - from livery, to collecting, to trading, and obviously Online brought with it a lot of social networking.
In fact, the major difference that GT5 brought to us, coming from GT4, was the expanded and very intimate social-networking side of the game - though many still play only offline. GT6 is going to be very much an Online game - and with that will come a huge amount of role-playing.

I guess we'll know . . . sooner than later, what we would classify this game as. I see role-playing playing a huge role. The fact that net-working seems to be a two-pronged attack, both from DriveClub, and GT6, leaves me to wonder at the survival of Forza - and exactly what genre they would be pursuing, and how they will go about getting their share of the market.

For now, the more I examine the marketing strategy, the more I see the teasers only covering up the obvious; Online gaming, and with it, role-playing, is coming our way - from all directions.

World of Gran Turismo. ;) Would be pretty neat to actually control a person, live somewhere, drive a car you have bought in a starting city, visiting certain buildings for new cars, GT Auto, Tuning, and of course races. We were promised free-roam in GT5, so I sure hope some kind of free-roam is included in GT6.

That game already existed, 'twas called "Test Drive Fate Unlimited Codes".

I opened this thread thinking we'd be roleplaying, like in this thread, like we'd make a GT themed story and roleplay as our characters...
Ok..
On your way to the work car park you are given cr25000 and an invitation to the Sunday Cup?

If PD was larger I bet they could make a new Gran Turismo series that rivals Forza Horizon. They could make that into a RPG.

And also LOL at OP. But in a serious note I think the game will be rated E 10+ for mild lyrics.

I know I know. But I meant for Gran Turismo. Since free-roam was said to be included in GT5. But it wasn't.:dunce:

Oh, look at that. PS4 With the price of 400 Dollars.
Here, in Brazil, it's confirmed to cost aprx 2000 dollars(R$4000). Very cheap huh?
