Gran Turismo 7 can’t map rotary encoders?

I have a Fanatec CSL Elite and am finding that the only wheel with working rotary knobs that can be directly assigned (although permanently which is fine) is the GT wheels like the Logitech Pro and the Fanatec GT wheel. I’m not even sure the F1 Podium is assigned not that I could afford that. It doesn’t make a whole lot of sense.

Is this something they might fix or is there a reason for this? Will a GT wheel work on the CSL Elite with assigned rotaries or will that no work because the game isn’t going to see it as a DD Pro which is the wheel it shows rotaries for. Is the Podium F1 knobs assigned? If so are they still assigned if it’s on a CSL Elite base? This is super frustrating. I’d like to be able to turn traction up for that one turn with the bumps that the car to bounce around or turn the braking bias to the front for the only 200MPH braking turn on a track and have it towards the back for the rest and I want to do that while having the radar on my screen.

id like to do it as cheaply as possible which would be the McLaren GT3 wheel but I’ll buy a GT wheel if I have to. Just Im not sure it’s going to work with the game recognizing that I don’t have a DD PRO.

I have the McLaren wheel on a DD Pro, the issue is that rotary encoders are not supported in GT7 nor are they mappable. The toggle switches on the wheel do work the MFD though. FYI the GT wheel doesn't have rotary encoders, it has the four coloured sticks that are preset for TCS, brake bias etc, I don't know it they would work on a different wheelbase.
