This is something I have long thought makes sense. Gran Turismo should be a downloaded online service with a subscription (with a starter disc available of course for those without good internet connections or plans). PD is already heading down this path with the constant updates, I feel they should jump right in and scrap their current two per console generation update model.
It would also make for a better business model for PD with a trickle of money constantly flowing in rather than a torrent of money every few years. Gamers would get the benefit of always having the latest game engine, latest physics and best graphics with a steady flow of updates to both game and content. Think of iRacing but without the incredible price for content and with a far more prestigious developer at the helm.
I don't want to see GT7 for PS4 followed 4 years later by GT8. I just want to see GT Online (for PS4, not PC to be clear) now and forever. One constant and evolving racing game with cars in my garage that I have owned for years. Games like FIFA and COD will certainly head down this path soon. GT will eventually also. But it would be nice to see PD return to being pioneers being the first big franchise to become a service rather than being dragged kicking and screaming into the present as they were for online play.
So what do you say Kaz, what are the chances of PD moving in this direction?
