Okay, so heres an idea I had...as the Beijing Olympic Games come to an end (with GB gaining a record amount of gold medals ), I had an idea that not even Top Gear have been mad enough to try out before...so therefore, I introduce...

The Gran Turismo Car Olympics 2008​

Here Im curious to see how you all think olympic sports could be represented in the car world...obviously the 100, 200, 400m and other track events are easy, but things such as long jump, shot putt, and othres are more difficult...gymnastics? well, ill leave that to the drifter boys around here

IF the idea is popular ill start posting up ideas for events, and even pictures from the 'Opening Ceremony'

Maybe for the walking 'race' we could have a race with automatics were you would have to keep the car in 1st gear, not let it jump into 2nd! 💡

Neat idea. And what Im thinking for the shot putt is to go into 2 player, set player 2 to have a Kei car, position said Kei car on a designated start line, then let player 1 have whatever vehicle of their choice, and let them back up a set distance from where the Kei car is, then simply to ram the Kei car, and see how far it can punt the Kei down the track inone go

There's not much you can do in Gran Turismo if it involves crazy stuff, seeing as this is a game for simulation racing, and it doesn't allow free roam as such, so the possibilities are a bit slim. And even if we make the Olympics I can imagine only a few cars will do the job well, so everybody will just use the same car, beating the purpose of the competition. I would like to be proved wrong though, and if anybody can come up with an interesting challenge I'm definitely up for it 👍.

Smokey Mt. North would be perfect for the long jump competition IMO. That frontstraight with multiple jumps will surely score some big air .

You could do events where you can only be in one lane, like real-life running events...

The walking suggestion is basically genius, but also boring. Maybe like 2nd or 3rd gear?

Good idea on the smokey mountain...and for the triple jump, Seattle Reverse? The three jumps on the downhill section?

Tahiti Dirt Road 3 would do the job nicely there 👍. There's a short asphalt section on the start/finish straight. Pikes Peak would work too, despite the changes from dirt to asphalt (and vice versa) not being too distinctive (you can't really feel the change in grip).

Okay, I like everybody ideas. Also, any of the hackers (where's AAZ when you need him?) - would it be possible to create a high jump by hacking the test course? I swear i saw somewhere somebody put an enourmous ramp in the middle of the test course front stretch?

Problem is if you start hacking the game not everybody will be able to compete, because not everyone has a gameshark (me included). The ramp thingy would be awesome though.

i have the GS,but most of the code doesn't work.So,it's useless(take the gameshark & throw it away to the recycle bin)

Yeah, I can see that would be a problem. The high jump is fully open for hackers everything else though would be open for everyone
