Yea Gran Turismo as a sponsor gets everywhere in motor racing, considering they have a lot of cars from the manufacturers in the game in the first place. I've seen it on quite a few cars.

when i watched a portion of the race yesterday i did not find it unoticable.

Same here. The only realy way of seeing it (apart from Satelite) is every now and then on the news. One year a normal T.V. channel qcactually covered it and it was quite good as well. But now they don't even cover it in the news . But the second best way I found this year (which I did) was to go on the net go to radio LeMans, out the official timing up infront of me and grab a bear and just listen to the race develop. Very nice (sad, but very nice).
