Since so much time goes into making each generation of GT, why don't they make a GT Rally game as a new game with the GT5 engine?
They should make it all point to point rallies with co-drivers reading pacenotes to you. It would be cool if you could transfer your cars from GT5.
Driving on pavement, dirt, snow, icy pavement, mud, sand... use the whole world from sattelite images for the roads to be rallied.

With how Colin McRae's rally games have turned into Dirt, there is room for a rally game with high level physics engine like Gran Turismo has. There hasn't been a Group B rally game yet, or classic rally in general, so plenty of room to get creative with it.

I know GT5 rally mode is lacking, but I believe this is due to the surfaces being poorly written. If they put effort into writing the dirt, snow, mud... then it will make a great rally game.

I remember seeing a demo of GT a while back with a nice Rally part. It even had the fans on the track running out of the way like they do in European races. It had crotch rockets too.

The point of ""Gran Turismo" is to include as much racing series in one place as possible. That's why you find rally cars next to LMP, F1 and now even NASCAR. That's the essence of the series and I hope it will never change.

Rally cars were present in the first GT game, but they didn't shine until GT2 were rally had it's own racing championships and much more cars. And as a small scret, you coudl modify a Ford Tauros with a Racing Modification to get an actual NASCAR in your garage. :sly:

F1 models had their debut in GT3 with some cars based on the real ones, weren't actually real. Depending on the version of the game (US, PAL, etc...) you'll find different models. Some even looking nearly like McLaren cars from the 90's

We didn't get a serious line up of Le Mans cars until GT4, where they really shine and we got some serious Endurance races to test them out. By this point, rally had also evolved and we also got some pretty cool concept rally cars and some really great and original tracks, while the old ones got a bit of a make over.

The first ever official F1 car came in GT5 Prologue by Ferrari, which followed by having the 2010 version in GT5, along with NASCAR, and a full licence for WRC and SuperGT.

Now, a bit of history about this WRC licence...I personally believe that by obtaining this licence, doesn't necessary gives them more power to model more cars, but instead, to reproduce sponsors, drivers names, and everything that is attached to the car. And also having their specs revealed instead of having the game engine work it out for us.

It would be nice to see what they could come up with by just focusing on rally only. But then fans would demand the exact same thing for all the other racing series. And to avoid all this, why not just put them all together in the same game? And that's how Gran Turismo was born! :sly:
