I just read on a dutch site that said the following:

PlayStation.jp has announced six games for the PS3, next to that it has announced 3 more games for the ps2, namely Everybody's Golf 5, Gran Turismo Series and Genji 2.

I am kinda shocked. I would like to know if this is true.

If anyone can read dutch, the link is the following:

Eh? That doesn't make any sense. How can that be confirmed for PS2? Hence why I lead him to that thread.

Oh well, maybe there is an explanation.

Maybe that dutch site is wrong and the Gran Turismo Series in, like we all say in that other thread, an upgraded GT4 for PS3.

It is probably a mistake from the dutch site, because babelfish says>> Gran Turismo Series, for the PS3

Gran Turismo Series? That's rather odd ... Surely all of the GT games are called the Gran Turismo series as a plural. Strange. Aside from that, i really don't think there are going to be any more GT games on the PS2. I'd expect that they want to concentrate on rivalling PGR3 and the 360, and you won't do that very well on a PS2.

Gran Turismo for Boys? That kids game Kaz wants to make?
That's what I was thinking. I saw that in an OLD issue of PSM when they had a preview for GT4. This could be the "Gran Turismo Series" they are talking about.

...They said they might re-release GT4 with an online mode, but it wouldnt be worth it at this point in time. Without a dedicated online server and the PS3 about a year away, they shouldnt waste their time.

There's no mistake on the dutch site, just wrong interpretation by bugmenot1 ;). The site says: that three of the six are new games and three are continuations of PS2 games ;). So they mean the next gen GT-game ;).

In fact, it ia a missinterpretaion of the original new on SCEI's official web.

GT games were mentioned for PS3 and PSP. However, today Sony has removed all 6 PS3 games from the list, as well as GT for PSP.

He said it right.

The site says:

Among the six titles (by which are meant six PS3 titles, as indicated in the title) are three completely new titles, namely Angel Rings, an RPG, Monster Carnival, an action-RPG and The Eye of Judgement, oh which the genre isn't known yet. Furthermore there are three successors to PS2 games in the making: Everybody's Gold 5, Gran Turismo Series and Genji 2.

Note how the latter three games are still part of the six PS3 games. And it's translated by myself, not a translator, so nuances are correctly interpreted. Don't expect a GT on PS2, they're done with that platform. GT4 is as good as it gets on PS2, why continue on a system you've already maxed out? No room for improvement = no room for a successor.

I know what it said on the site;) I speak dutch myself, but bugmenot1 interpreted it as being six games for the PS3 and besides those, three other games for the PS2;) one of which he thought was the new GT-game.

Yes you understood it, just thought I'd clear it up for non-dutch speakers. ;)

With the basis of this thread being a mis-understanding I think it is safe to say Thread Closed.

The next GT game will be on the PS3. 👍

Hopefully we will all get it soon enough but for the time being there is no reason to worry about mis-understandings that make us think GT5 will be on the PS2.

GT5 will be on the PS3.
