Gran Turismo Sport delayed to 2017

Let's look at what is widely regarded as the most popular GT game: GT3 which sold 14 million copies.
At the time it was released in 2001 everyone and his mother owned a PS2. There were already 10 racing games available, but 6 of them can be regarded as arcade + you had Ferrari challenge and 2 F1 games:

At the time GTS will be released (when pigs fly), you will have the following true competitors which focus on a certain degree of realism or car collecting which is what GT offers (arcade racers and F1 games excluded):

FM5
FH2
FM6
FH3
PCARS
AC
Driveclub

If all these games sell between 2 and 4 million, you easily come up with the number GT3 sold which didn't have the fierce competition. So in other words i think it spread out the sales more evenly.
Sorry, I disagree. It's not only a matter of sells but also about trends. Cool games for cool kids are now COD, GTA and FIFA. Where are the racing games? Forza Horizon could very well be the new GT in terms of popularity but far from the golden era of GT.

Do you put in the same list Driveclub and AC?! I can read FM5 AND 6, if done this way you can sum GT3 and 4 sells.

I think most genuinely still love the series. For many, and I defo include myself in this, the first GT was where this crazy journey in racing games began. I'd prepare yourself for the end of 2017, then if it turns up sooner it's a bonus!

I have actually! I will have plenty to play in the form of singleplayer (Star Trek Online) and multiplayer with my sons (Destiny) so I am all set. I don't have the time I used to or I would be playing Forza Horizon 3 too.

I will fully admit that I'm totally biased towards Gran Turismo. And being a moody teenager, yeah, that doesn't help.

I think that GTSport will be a good game; I don't doubt PD's abilities to make a good game, but the delays at this point will only cause pain and detriment to the franchise. People were already displeased with the way the game looked and sounds even before release. A delay will, as you can see, anger everyone a lot. I see this as a late 90's/early 10's Honda situation: their cars weren't bad, but they slacked off and they became old and outdated, especially compared to the competition. Now, will they find their magic back and realize their mistakes and become great once more, as Honda has? Hopefully, but who knows.

In my book, that's fine. Be biased towards the product you like. I mean there are certain things in life I like and you know what? It's ok.

I believe PDI obviously has realized their mistakes as evident of the removal of Standard Cars and the delay to the GT Sport.

Soooooo... Anyone think the delay has anything to do with the new systems? Bad news if that's why. Lot of people have been waiting with a PS4...

It's possible that it was an intentional move by Sony to push GT:S back and make it a launch title fir the PS4 Pro, but who knows. :/

Can't be the reason because the PS4pro is coming Nov.10
What if they have to reformat the game to support 4k and normal HD? I'm trying to look at it positively.

Well this really sucks. I still have yet to own a current gen system. I was going to bite the bullet a couple months ago, but decided to wait when they announced the PS4 Pro/Neo/etc.

Now....I may change my decision back to an Xbox and just get Forza. Thanks a lot PD. Been loyal since GT1, but man, you guys really know how to push away your fans.

No, it doesn't work like that.
It would require them to program and test the rendering solution while also making sure the HUD and UI are rendered properly. It probably isn't back-breaking labor, but it's not exactly plug'n'play, either.

Also, seeing as the game is being built to be played entirely in VR, I'm sure they've been working hard at how best to utilize PS4 Pro's power for their VR implementation, which could go several different ways.

I doubt it has much of anything to do with the delay, they are a 1st party studio and would have had this information and dev kits for a long time now, but it's certainly extra workload for them.

One reason for delay could be of the game having 14 tracks built by November, but the remaining 4 with a delay.

Just praying to see some of those old classics in PS4. :D

It's really really hard to say this and words are hard to come out...

But if PD doesn't give us something to chew on like the promised beta, I fear the love and patience I had for gt it's gonna die.

Honestly I do not miss gt6 not even a bit, I just miss the people I was reading with... In my view gt4 was the last gt that was well since and worthy it.

Is heart breaking but one had to be honest to oneself. Kaz, PD you are killing the love I and many others had for the franchise. :[

Turn 10 should make a gift to Poly for its awful PR

Like releasing the series as well on PS4 :D

I bought FH2 this summer, Forza 6 this week and will buy FH3. Turn 10 should make a gift to Poly for its awful PR.
GT is (was?) my favorite franchise.

If I had the money I would buy those games and the xbone without thinking twice about it. The momentum PD had after London is completely lost and T10 and Playground are going to profit hugely from it. It is simply deserved on their side. They have launched some great games and with FH3 just around the corner I can see many players that like collecting and tuning making the switch. Damage is inflicted completely by PD and Sony upon themselves. Such a shame really because I hoped that this time they managed to turn the tables around.

I don't know many games with so much love from its fans. People like GT not only as a racing game but also because it's GT and there is something special. However, things have changed for so many reasons.

....I mean, there I was, early 2013, thinking about how straightforward and opposite to ps3 and stupid cell, the upcoming PS4 was.
I've been saying to myself that polyphony had it unfair last gen (bec. of h/w), and this time they would really shine.
I even thought that with gt6 being this close (back then), A KIND of gt ps4 can't be far away.

I was happy back then with my -reasonable imo- thoughts...

but, polyphony has a thing, a talent to **** up even logical calm thoughts like mine.

I kind of feel bad for people that in devotion have been hanging on this ...nonsense!

A PS5? Nah, that won't happen, the PS4 Pro is already capable of the best possible graphics you could wish for, what's the point of making an even more powerful console? I feel like it would be a waste of time and effort. PS4 is last-gen, mark my words.
