'rammed me off' I always instant quit post race...

It was bad driving in the sense that I should have noticed 2-wide = you will brake earlier than usual (in your case, ridiculously early), I should have realised and hit brakes early as well but I just hit my normal braking point because I'm a noob. Was it my fault? Yeah, but for a standard minor incident that happens all the time in the mid A splits, in an online game, in an informal race where we're way off the pace already, I didn't feel it warranted some post race formal apology

If you thought that was some intentional game ruining murder ram then I imagine you would have a meltdown if you tried daily B this week in the mid A races....lol
Of course it warranted an apology. You made a mistake that ruined someone else's race. Sure it doesn't fix what happened but at least it shows that you're sincere and willing to improve and not make the mistakes again. It also shows responsibility which makes racing against you better for others as they know you're not dirty and want to race to the best of your ability. All the 'yeah I hit you but as it was a mistake I don't need to say sorry' shows is that you're immature and perhaps not suited to racing and bettering yourself.

So I had no expectations coming into the last Manu Cup race at Interlagos as the track has always given me trouble. I can hold my own and keep decent pace, but not enough to make a run for the front of the field. I also almost didn't make the first slot as my PS+ subscription ran out and I scrambled to get it activated again. I made the GT2 first slot (East Coast) with 15 seconds to spare. I qualified P11 well behind the pole sitter. I just wanted to get this over as I was going to be one and done no matter the result.

The race starts and I actually manage to get to P6 at one point. Some real close pack racing with minimal contact was nice to be a part of. I can't defend from P7 and P8 forever and they get by eventually. I miss my brake point in turn 4 and run wide with no penalty thankfully. I then cruise in P9 for the rest of the race and finish there. I'm just happy I didn't finish last. I got 101 points for my effort so not a total waste of a result. I won't know the final standings until tomorrow, so I have no idea where I actually finished overall.

I had a real good time racing this season. Everyone was racing clean and I didn't notice any blatantly dirty drivers. The 2 wins were a nice surprise obviously, but I thought over the duration of the season I had a strong performance in all the races. I'm looking forward to next season and I hope to improve my final ranking. A big thanks to everyone posting strategies and results as they were a big help to me and hopefully everyone else who participated.

Final Manufacturers Cup race for the year unless they decide to add in some Exhibition Seasons.

Have to say I have a real love hate relationship with Interlagos. I love racing there. And hate Qualifying given it takes me a couple of laps to find a good rhythm through the first series of corners and the middle sector.

Started just outside the Top 10 and not too far off the pole time (considering how fast the front two proved to be in the race).

Got the jump on the BRZ from the start and went down the inside at T1. Then simply aimed to get into the zone and set clean laps. I picked off another 4 guys throughout the race due to either penalties or incidents (the mid-pack was a bit of a demo derby), to come home in 6th and was in with a shout for a podium had I been more aggressive.

But I'll take the result.

Indulge me in telling a little story.

About 2 years ago I had plateaued at high B rating. I could do fast laps, but I couldn’t compete in races. One week we were driving group 2 cars at Maggiore. My qualy lap had me at the front of the grid but I kept getting mobbed in race. I drove a couple of races against @pennanton and he was kind enough to tell me that my pace was great, but my lines were really inconsistent. I fixed it and found myself in high A FIA splits soon after.

In those splits, I think I probably ran three whole seasons against @LeGeNd-1 and @Redneckchef we drove hard and I’m sure we occasionally bumped each other, but there was a level of respect in our driving. In fact, that respect existed across the whole field. It was without question the greatest period of enjoyment I’ve had in the GT series.

The Oceania GT community (and it is a community) can be a great place to spend your time. I’m sure you already know that there are a whole bunch of us who routinely acknowledge each other in chat. But it only gets to be that way when everyone understands that everyone else is respectful and that genuine mistakes will be acknowledged and, where possible, rectified.

TL;DR Your experience will be heaps better if you try and become part of the respectful group of Oceania racers instead of assuming everyone is just looking out for themselves.

I'll add to this. First thing is to be aware of the other cars, next is be ready to back off if you've screwed up and bumped another car. I had to do that just recently at St. Croix with @pennanton when I bumped him early lap 1 with our different braking spots. Just eased off to make sure he could save it and continue. Even sent a blanket apology to a team of drivers I end up in lots of races with, dailies and GTWS, because I found out they thought I'd been too aggressive lately.

Might sound like a silly move to you, but there will be lots of times I face off against them. And the best solution to that racing is to develop trust. The more we trust each other to drive clean the more confident we are when we're in close conditions. The more confident you are the more likely you are to drive the right line and survive tight moves. If there's no trust then you're driving nervous and more likely to screw up leading to wrecks.

Develop trust and a rep for clean racing and you'll have a much better time with the people you will face off against very regularly, it's a small community down here @paul09

That's the free advice, do with it what you will.

Yeah that’s fair, i think the comment about community is really the root of it for me. I haven’t seen it as a community personally, I’ve only been playing since a couple months after GT7 launched (never played GT sport), and in the dailies it’s very much felt like every man for himself, get punted regularly and have just got used to it. I won’t deliberately punt but if I do accidentally generally I’ve not bothered apologising or slowing unless I really murder someone, due to the everyone out for themselves anyway feeling.

I appreciate the constructive comments and will take them on board, will try approach the races tonight with a more positive respectful attitude - thanks

Dailies are very different from the WS events. And when you start to settle in at a natural DR you'll see a lot of the same faces almost every race. It definitely makes it a bit more interesting and involving. And making friends helps, I've had lots of fun dailies and a few FIA or World Series races while in party chat with friends. Adds an extra element of fun talking with each other while wheel to wheel.

Edit: there are also lots of teams and lobby groups or leagues you can find as well. Lots of good drivers and good friends that'll help improve speed and help have more fun races too.

Like I said previously, no Final round for me  So, my final results for the Manu. Cup:

3rd overall in Europe with the Alfa :D Best race was the (free) podium at Kyoto :sly:

I imagine more people will use the Alfa in the upcoming seasons just for the 155, but after the physics change the 4C became more manageble, so a decent cars combo

I'm changing brand for next time, and since I dig running with the dark horses, I'm thinking Dodge :dopey: Let me know, Dodge drivers, if it is a good choice or not :P

Seeing the final results in the overall ranking I think PD need to sort out the french brands, they are SO bottom of the barrel :ouch:

Pretty consistent first season in GT2 / at DR B. One podium, mostly midpack. Hopefully can pick up the pace for the next one - think I’ll finally be comfortable enough to go manual, I’ve been doing it offline. Will be going MR (a few options) as I need a bit more racing experience in those, and don’t really do the Dailies anymore.

Wow some great results, I never knew you ran AT Fezzik! Do you also run assists? 10th in the UK for GT2 League as well!

3rd overall in Europe
Best Alfa driver for your country as well! 😜 GG.

My results/report at the bottom of the previous page! (link) - (for those that are interested/not seen it)

I'm sure the Americas will be posting their results soon too. I like to hear people's experiences from these competitions, what they gained/learnt and it's always good to hear people's willingness to improve! I may also stick with Nissan next season unless something drastically changes, like they get nerfed and they bring in a Honda S2000 GR3 and GR4 car! (I own an s2000 irl but went with Nissan as I'd have a Z/GTR if I didn't have my S2k)

Not a bad season and I'm defiantly starting to rediscover my pace and confidence with the change to 7.

The French cars are MR so very little people have chosen them. That may change for the next seasons.

Background: I hate Interlagos. I've always avoided this track when I could. The only time I've ever enjoyed it was in the F1500-T Daily in GT Sport, which was solely because of the car. I'm always slow and always struggle with the braking in the 2nd sector and almost always get punted off at some point. Unfortunately I had 2 "meh" scores (including an unexpectedly poor showing at Trial Mountain) and wanted to try to get rid of one, plus I was under threat from a couple other Chevrolet drivers that I wanted to stay ahead of in the standings.

Slot 1: I actually ended up in a lower split than my usual running mates @Geauxgreddy and @F1Bernardo, probably due to losing DR in Daily Race B this week. Qualified 9th, a few tenths off my best FP time, but honestly better than I thought I'd do given my history with this track. For the first 7 laps I stayed there, in a train that covered maybe 6th to 10th place. Then on Lap 7, the car in 7th ran a bit too wide at Descida do Lago (that annoying left just after the end of the first sector) and spun into the inside wall and got engine damage. He stayed to the inside of the track in the flat-out curve afterwards, but left quite a bit of gap between himself and the wall so that he was sort of in the middle of the track as well. I saw all of this happening, and but I had no idea where his car would be when I got there, so I committed to the inside. Unfortunately he wound up not leaving enough room to squeeze by him, so I had to slam on my brakes to avoid driving into the back of him. The Supra that was behind me did try to go up the inside and slammed into the back of him and spun. Thankfully, no one else behind was close enough to take advantage, and I was able to gain a spot and move up to P8, which eventually became a P7, which would be my final finishing position. This would be worth 229, which would've been enough to improve my previous worst result by 4 points. I wanted more points though, because my total would be 998, just short of 1000, and I wanted to pass the 1000-point mark, plus I wanted a bit more insurance over the other Corvette drivers.

Slot 2: This time I was paired with @F1Bernardo, and qualified 9th once again. I briefly moved up to 8th after the 3 cars in front of me tangled in the Senna Esses after the start and one got a 0.5s penalty, but after a few laps, I messed up the final turn and nearly spun, losing the spot to the car that served the penalty earlier. I'd end up finishing where i started in 9th, with @F1Bernardo also finishing where he started in P11. 9th was worth 211 points, which wouldn't even count, so it was an easy decision to go again.

Slot 3: In between Slots 2 and 3, I tried to improve my qualifying pace. In spite of losing 10kg in the last update, I'd been unable to beat my 31.9 that I'd set in practice BEFORE the BoP change. This time though, on my last lap before the next slot started, I managed to do a 31.781. When the next slot loaded, I was once again in with @F1Bernardo. In qualifying, somehow managed to slightly beat my FP time with a 31.726, which was good enough for 2nd on the grid, making for an all-Chevrolet front row (the other Corvette was over 0.3s faster, and had gotten pole in the previous slot, as well as at least a couple slots last week at DTS, so he clearly belong in a higher split).

At the start, the polesitter immediately ran away as I was a bit too cautious through the Senna Esses, having never approached them from this far up the grid before. A scruffy final corner at the end of the opening lap saw me pick up a track limits penalty that I didn't even notice until I was halfway through Lap 2, by which point I'd already lost 2nd place to a Supra that was clearly quicker than me. After serving my penalty, the Lamborghini that started in 4th caught up to me, but in apparently the Lambo has hilariously terrible straight line performance, because even with having to slow down for the penalty, I was matching his speed by the time we got to T1 again, and I easily kept 3rd place. The Lambo stayed in my slipstream for several laps, but even with my slipstream he actually lost ground to me on the straights. I eventually opened up a gap of a couple seconds over 4th place, and finished 3rd, while @F1Bernardo bringing it home P7. My podium was worth 281 points, which was my best score this season! I came in to this round hoping to, at best, replace my worst result with a meaningful improvement at a track I'm absolutely awful at, and ended up with my best points of the season! In fact, this was also my best finish and only podium of this season in Manufacturer's as well, and all at a track that I'm always dreadfully slow at - especially in Gr.3 cars. In fact, I've only had 1 previous finish at Interlagos count towards a Manufacturer's championship, and even that one was my lowest score in that particular season. Unfortunately I guess that means I'll have to actually race at Interlagos every time it comes up now...

10th best UK Aston driver in GT2, 42nd in Europe - not quite as impressive.

Dualsense, AT, ABS, TC1 (it saves me more than I lose, I have a heavy finger).
I am looking at wheels, but I'm also looking at PSVR2 estimated cost and my bank account :nervous:

Oh yea, i saw 10th and hadn't had my morning coffee yet 🤦‍♂️ .

Jumped onto Oceania slot 1 in the Jag. @LeGeNd-1 was in the same lobby. Hooked up a whole lap and qualified 5th. Started on mediums and sank like a stone early as the soft starters mobbed me. By about lap 5 things had settled and 3 of us were dicing for p7-9. I unexpectedly divebombed @LeGeNd-1 into the final chicane when he braked much earlier than I expected. But there was no contact and we carried on. The soft runners started pitting from lap 6 and as I finished lap 8 I had to make a call as to whether to try and get 7 or 8 laps out of the softs in the final stint. At the last moment I decided to run one extra on the mediums. This was a bad mistake as I proceeded to get the line into turn 1 wrong and then, inexplicably, the car just kicked 90 degrees left and I ended up in the wall and DFL. I eventually fought back to p11 but it should have been a battle for p6.

Decided my pace was better than that result so went again in slot 2. Found myself in top split with a New Zealand world tour finalist and his chief protector at the pointy end.

Qualified p9 and started on mediums again. This time I didn’t make any big mistakes and ran 8m8s. After all the pit stops I was in p10 but 3 of the 4 cars immediately ahead of me were on mediums.

Head down, I started taking chunks out of their lead and took a place back on lap 11 and another one on lap 14. By the banked left on lap 15 I was within a second of p6 and gaining. As we crested the hill into the right hander, p6 clipped the grass and lost control. I had to lift to avoid him but got cleanly past. The last lap was all about staying tidy and I brought it home for p7 and 240 points.

That should be enough to put me on the cusp of top 20 in Oceania.

It’s a good fun race and lots of different cars are competitive. Good luck to everyone running it.

Fell down the order since last night. Oh well! Even if I had carried on last night trying to improve I need to score more than 80 points which in my lobby was about a P5. I reckon I could have achieved that, but i would have only gained 1/2 places in the final standings. Finished P25 in Manufactures overall which I’m happy with. Look like all the GT2 A ranked players returned for last nights round and massively out scored me which then dropped me down the league.

On to Nations today. Feeling a bit today so should hopefully finish the season with a good result. Not really sure what the best car is for this round, but I’m going to go with Porsche. Need a good round today as I’ve only completed 3 rounds due to the DNF issues back on the Fuji round.

Porsche is a good choice. Very strong here.

The most successful cars I saw were Mazda RXV, Porsche, Mustang

I don’t like that Mazda. The engine noise just annoys be to start with but I don’t the handling either. Not thought about the Mustang. Bit too late for me to test now.
Tried the McLaren as it’s good on tyres but just felt slow and not stable. Fell like this track have very low grip even on the soft tyres

One car that people can try is the Genesis, it's not too bad and kind of easier to handle than the Mazda.

Nations GT2 Asia slot 1
MAZDA RX-VISION GT3 CONCEPT

No much practice on that one either, but I really like Trial Mountain.
Still, only got Q14, more than 1s away from my practice time.

Started on medium, but between that + fuel load and cold tires, my first lap was very bad and trailed P16 for a while.
Eventually caught up with a big group of medium tire starters, crashed mid race (missed first corner line), got an engine failure and had to fight my way back, which got a lot easier once on softs (pit at lap 9).
Ended P11, thinking that while I didn't have the pace to do a great result, definitely could do quite a better if I avoid the mistakes.
Plus, I enjoyed the race a lot so decided to go again.

The RX-Vision was also pretty fun to drive here (dialed down the engine sound to -2 however, it is a bit annoying)

Nations GT2 Asia slot 3
MAZDA RX-VISION GT3 CONCEPT

Got close to my practice time, but only gave Q11. The lobby was a lot faster than the first slot (several cars in the low 1:49).

Started on medium, and got a bit divebombed in the first lap left before the back straight, didn't really react well, and hit the wall. Engine failure again, and back to last more than 5 sec to P15 :banghead:.

So basically same scenario as first race, fought my way back and finished again P11.
And actually, ended up having a lot of fun again in spite of the poor result, Gr3 on that track really works well I think.

So that is the last race of the season, it was really a lot of fun. Against my initial targets:
GoalNationsManufacturers
Join all races
Top 200 Asia GT2
Top 100 (stretch goal)
Enjoy the racing

Not great hopes for this one. Only did a couple of practise laps all week. Qualified around my practice pace, 13th behind a sea of RX-Visions and Lancers (10 of the first 11 on the grid). Went with the softs as had no idea how long a stint to do, started right on the final bend facing the barrier. Bad omens all round.

One for the Auto club! Damn I love this car, as a combo we may be slow over a single lap but we can race.

Made my way through the field, avoided the spinners. Pitted from 2nd on lap 8, came out 6th on the mediums. Troubles every lap on the left-hander leading to the back straight but otherwise felt good. Passed a few more and had a great 5 lap battle to the end with an Italian Mazda.

Wish I could use the Z4 in Manufacturers next season but the Gr.4 beemer is so so bad.

Didn't have big hopes for this but it went good , used the meta car this time and qualified 5th with 1.50.786 not bad at all
Race started with softs pretty good racing just few minor crashes, bumps and usual mistakes got into the 3rd , after lap 7 to the pit got out in 5th place things went more or less smoothly , after others went to the boxes i ended in the 3rd place

2022 GTWS Manufacturer's Cup - Round 8 Finale
Interlagos - Group 3 - Jaguar F-Type
Slot 1

I struggled this season with Jag, especially the group 4 car. So, I was really hoping to end the season on a good note. Lobby opened up and I was paired again with @F1Bernardo . Qualifying went pretty well as I logged a 1:31.8xx. Only a tenth of my best TT time. No idea how the new BOP affected Jaguar, if it did at all, but the car felt the same. I started in P9 and @F1Bernardo qualifed a couple spots back in his McClaren.

My strategy was to be quick but cautious and take advantage of others mistakes. I ran quite of few practice races and stayed out of the time trial. I wanted to practice the course with fuel on board and have good race pace. That plan seemd to work well as I kept pace with the faster qualifiers and waited in the shadows to pounce with my Jaguar. As they made mistakes, I picked up spots. When the dust settled, I took home P5 for 273 points. Yet to crack 300, but I feel it coming. I just need the right track car combo. Finished 4th for Jag and 89th in NA.

I Never dared to depart from AT, so hat's of to you for going MT!!!
Good luck with that and congrats on the season!

Anyway, regarding my race today: my practice times in the Mustang were quite good, best one was a 1.49.7 and a bit so felt confident i could get a good result. I love this track, i find it very challenging. The way to a good result was simple: do not hit anything during the race and do steady laps.

Qualifying went okay. I did have enough fuel in the car to go untill the final lap (😁) and in that last lap i got a 1.50.4 and that secured pole for me!

Start went okay, and hit the first few corners quite aggresive so to get some distance between me and the cars behind me. That succeeded and I got some distance. Then I saw at the end of lap 1 that the Supra in second touched the barrier on the straight ever so slightly so i had a few seconds between me and the rest

Those first laps were pretty much qualifying laps, based solely on getting more distance as I knew the Mustang was not good on tyres so needed a bit of a gap.

Now, in my practice sessions the tyres were gone after six laps so plan was to pit then. But I actually had less tyrewear then in all my practice runs so decided to do one more lap and pitted lap 7. When I got out on mediums i had a large enough gap so consolidated that and concentrated on not hitting anything. So got the win and finally succeeded in not getting any damage during the race! (never managed to do that in practice)

First win in nations cup since preseason (and 3rd win overall) and my first win in the Suzuki vgt Gr3...MAAAN it feels so good! Especially since I nearly self sabotaged myself hahaha...can't believe I got the result I did...feels o good to win something again especially since it's been 2 months since I had a mild stroke

The Suzuki VGT Gr3 is absolutely a car you MUST use manual transmission with as its peak power band descends after 10k revs.. 2k revs before the redline so you have to shift pretty early to keep it in power thanks to its twin hayabusa engine...which has bugger all torque but good power

Mixed feelings after todays racing. Disappointed but happy on the other hand.

Went with the Porsche, although I did try the Mazda just before the race and I actually found this handled better than last time I tried this car. Mazda is way more stable than the Porsche but I couldn’t find the lap time.

GT2 league - B rank.
Race 1 (slot 2)
Quali - only managed to get 1 lap in. My first lap was 1.49.8 which was good for P2. I couldn’t improve on this on my other laps.

Race - Started on the softs for this race. Good start and caught up to P1 and was on the bumper of this car for 6 laps. I just couldnt get the traction down in the key parts of the track to make an overtake stick. End L6, P1 pitted, so this then allowed me to push on my in lap. Pitted and came back out in net P1. Not sure what happened to the Mazda ahead me as they was way down the order. L9 and I have a comfortable lead of 2 seconds until i binned it! On T3 I cut too much grass which then sent me into a spin and put me in the barriers. I was so angry with myself. Brought it home in P6, 7 seconds of the leader. That spin cost me the win. I was going call it quits there and just take the P6 result. 81 points for this race.

The moment it all went wrong 😭

Race 2 (slot 3)
Quali - Went faster this time and put down a 1.49.5 which was just beaten by 0.100 in P1 and 0.50 by P2. P3 for quali.

Race - So not sure whether to go with soft or mediums for the start, as the car who started on mediums in my first race were quicker at the end on the softs. Went with softs in the end. Start again good, and caught P2 and P1. Again was held up by the two Mazdas. P2 went for a move on P1 and binned it at T1. 2 cars just don’t make that corner safely. Managed to pass P1 due to a time penalty and we both pitted end of L7 for the mediums. Pit exit we get stuck behind P2 and P3. This slowed us down and allowed P1 who was on mediums to slowly close the gap to us. L9 P3 made a bad exit on the back straight which slowed me down and allowed the car behind to overtake me. The car in P2 then decided they were going to do everything they could to hold up both P3 and myself in P4 but finally got he move done on L10. By this time P1 was able to run a little longer on mediums and pit end of L10 with fresh softs now till the end. P1 and myself (P2) were now 5 seconds ahead of P3. P3 managed to close quite quickly and pasted us both on L13. Brought the car home for P3 finish. Happy with the result as it was good finish but still annoyed by that mistake I made in the first race. Took home 101 points.

Good end to the season in nations. Time to chill out now from these GTWS and just have some fun on the game!

See you all next season racers! Will update my standing tomorrow once I know my final position.

I'm very pleased to make the top 100 in GT2 as I just missed out the last season I did. I was the only Ford driver in New York state so I get that by default. As I said, I thought I had a solid season of racing. This is the most 100+ point finishes I've ever had plus the 2 wins were awesome. I'm assuming I'll be in GT1 for the next season as I'm so close to being rank A driver. Or, I'll be forever in rank B as I've been stuck in it since January last year. Whatever, I'm looking forward to the next season no matter what rank I am.
