One and done for me in Gt2 B/S with the Mclaren.

Waited in the pit for a minute or 2 for the traffic jam to dispurse in quali.
Drove a save quali-lap of 8:06 for P5.
I was very lucky to escape the Turn 1 chaos and had a nice fight with an Aston Martin that was slower but overtook me everytime I went a wee bit off-track…

Finished P3 in the end for nice 90 Pts After a very quick AMG and a Renault that could only manage 3 laps on the soft tire.

PS: Is there something going on with Traction Control? During the race I wondered why the car does not get right out of the corners. Realized later that TC was at 3. I cannot remember having it turned on, as I use it only when wet. Think I had a similar thing some time ago.

Wasn’t going to do this round, should’ve stuck with that. From flying last week at one of the best tracks, to crawling round at the worst.

Euro GT2 in the AMG. Qualified 14th, about 20 seconds from pole, about 5 seconds off the midpack. Waited a few minutes in the pits for some clear air as there’s no way to get a 2nd lap anyway, but didn’t help.

Started on the hards. Briefly up into the top 8 on lap 1 but had no pace and got swamped. Was planning to do 1H4M but missed the pit entry and had to go round again. Ended up way behind the midfield, a lonely race just seeing occasional crashers. Didn’t even make the finish line, timed out for P14. I loathe all things Nurburg and will avoid them in the future.

Hopefully the full season starts soon. My choices are down to AMG, Ferrari and McLaren - but that may change once I see the schedule.

I am going live for my AM races and qualification time trial. No PM races in GT7 for me today. I will be drag racing my RC Viper.

Live Races

I was doing well till my chat came through the feed. YouTuber's you may want turn your live chat off for your race.

Not much chance of me finishing all 5 laps before time is up but oh well. I will only get two races in today given the whole show runs over 1 hour. However, I got 13 points for the first race giving me a total of 21 points.

Race #2: Started 5th. Got turn 1 ALL wrong, now I'm 15th of 15. Kept my nose mostly clean from that point on. Had a hard but clean fight with NotRacerX last part of the last lap. We crossed 8th and 9th. However, when the two cars in front fail the stop for the required tire change that turns into 6th and 7th.
So, finished 6th. Got 11 points for a total of 19.

I know what you all will gonna say: "Cabel, why this video is only 5 minutes long ? Wasn't this 40 minutes long race ?"

Yes, yes it was.

But as you can see, my race was ruined from something that wasn't in my control; many times you saw me doing stupid thing, mainly stupid punts, BUT THIS

Game, How can this be my fault for what happened at 02:42 ? COME ON ! :banghead:

So, screw it, only little highlights for this race 🤕

Euro GT1 in the McLaren

Almost spun but managed to qualify 7th (7:59.1) two seconds from pole. It was easy to see who had practiced / knew the track. The first half qualified within 2 seconds from the leader and the other half's laps were all over the place.

Started the race on mediums and switched to hards after 4 laps. Didn't have to worry about fuel. The race was nice and clean, finished 5th 8 seconds after the leader.

Not sure if I'll risk that. Love Nordschleife but hate the GP part of the track.

This happens to me almost every day. I always race with TCS 0 but sometimes when the race starts it's at 3 for some reason. I think it's a bug.

You have to finish your outlap before the countdown elapses, then you can do one flying lap that counts.
Outlap does not count.

Thanks for the reply. After I guessed wrong 🙄

Thought there’s no way it would be open for 2 full laps when race info said 13 minutes qualification.

I had a decent out lap and let someone by that wasn’t all that close but he had spun in front of me on the out lap. I had my share of issues and realized more than half way thru the second lap that it may allow time for everyone to finish.
Lessons learned and I started p10 with a 8:30 something.

Had an exceptionally sloppy race and this is the first time running the course without at least one glass of wine in the tank so that may have been the issue 🤔
I raced lobbies Thursday and Friday night and never crashed or went of but I even was in p6 today on the final lap and grabbed the curb went into a slide which I had to save right before the final straight. Lost two places and finished p8 all said and done.

I did RM first 4 laps and RH final lap which is what I was doing in the previous practice races. The RH don’t feel all that bad when you’re light on fuel.
Might be backwards logic but I don’t have anything to compare it to.

Going out wine tasting today so I might be primed for one more go this evening 🍻

I do really enjoy this course and the racing in VR. Lots of fun.

well, yuck. Did not have the results I wanted. Got into a high-scoring lobby, again with @Gearbanger - good to see you! as we say in the lobby "Well Done!"

I practiced more for this than most races and it did pay off. I had a good qualy at 8:13, P8. Pole had a sub 8:00 (7:58?) (Got punted on the outlap while driving easy and safe - c'mon, really?!)

Started on Hards, did 2H/3M but I got absolutely eaten alive on the first lap, especially on the long uphill towards the carousel, drivers were pushing and shoving and I had some slips on the hards. Finished lap 1 dead last which really placed me in a deep hole. I wonder if I could have avoided this by starting on RM?

The practice time was well worth it; when I was alone, my laps were easy and mistake-free. With one exception. Got back up to P11 (maybe 10?) and some traffic on lap4. Running on the final straight, I'm watching my pig Lancer lose a full second+ to someone behind and I run too hot into the final entry to the S/F line. I can confidently tell you that there are no wall penalties!

Now I just avoid last place because one driver didn't run both tires. Finish P12, 86 pts IIRC.

Not the result I hoped for but I really like driving here. I will likely try again this evening. Even if I get into a lower-scoring lobby, I'd like to get a better result (and enjoy the drive). My DR hasn't really changed that much over the week, but I've been in wildy different scoring lobbies for this series.

Good luck!

Maybe we’ll catch up in an evening round!
I thought you might be on RH to start because you were pretty deep outside on T1. I hope I was clean getting by but sometimes hard to know that you didn’t cause someone to have an extra hesitation because of the traffic.

I’m going to run the same way if I get to go again tonight. RM to RH for the last lap.

I really enjoyed the race too. Good luck if you get the chance to go again !

oh yeah, clean pass by you and actually that wasn't the bad part of my first lap, although it did put me behind a lot of traffic heading onto the nord. It got worse!

I ran 4M/1H on some of my practice custom races and while doable, that last lap on M was sketchy for me and not much better than the H. But I will start on M tonight, probaly still go 3M/2H, so maybe see you then!

Felt confident going into this one.

What a waste of a race. I qualify P7 which was awesome, but it doesn't matter when you get dumped entering the Nordschleife and fall to P16. I do manage to catch the back of the pack, but because of the great penalty system, I get a 3 second penalty when a car hit the grass and shot across the track right where I was. I had no where to go. I'm so far behind I don't even care at this point. I change to medium tires at the end of lap 2 and I have a terrible time keeping my car on track. I wasn't even pushing hard so I got increasingly more frustrated which led to more mistakes. On lap 5 my rear tire grip decides to peace out and I don't even come close to finishing. I finish dead last in P14 as 2 drivers quit. I did have @RacingGrandpa in my lobby so it was nice to see them.

So, I'm not picking Ford next season as I can't compete with them. Not like I'm the best driver ever, but if I can contend for a top 5 I'd be happy.

Edited to add that I got a 3 second penalty when exiting the pits before qualifying on the out lap. Anyone else encounter this?

I had a terrible start, got blasted in T1 all the way to the wall and was DFL.
Started to work my way back up, ran myself off once before I found my groove.
Was at P6 on lap 4 then the wife called and I had to exit and leave there.

Just as well I think, I shouldn't take points away in another region.

Anyways the Subaru BRZ was a nice surprise to run, in slip on Döttinger Hohe it did 275 km/h faster than I did in the M6 in EU earlier.

Love this track. The only part I don't care for is the Grand Prix portion. Let's get to the Nord already!

Did three races on my EMEA account. Since that account is still somewhat juvenile (a whopping 51 races before today), my DR had just clicked over to A not long ago. I did some Dailys from the back and after a couple, was back to a high B. Since I am usually available in the mornings this allowed my to jump into GT2 for the extra time slots.

Not a whole lot to report on the first two; won them from pole. The first race I did a 3RM/2RH strat with some fuel savings. The second and third races I did a 4RM/1RH strat, which is superior IMO.

The third race was really good. Even after winning the first two, I was still at a max B DR. But, in this lobby I was the only B. Some of the A drivers were well over halfway to A+. Made me wonder how they're in GT2... I suppose the same way I did but a much larger scale.

My quali time was a 7:55.X which had me starting P2 behind a Merc. The Merc driver made a mistake shortly after entering the Nord and the GTR driver and I were able to go by. Now in the lead I am just trying to keep pace while the Merc and GTR are fighting. Merc gets by the GTR ~75% through the first lap. Yadda yadda Merc driver pit on lap three yadda yadda I pit on lap four yadda yadda despite the Merc driver being within 1-3 seconds of me the whole time (except lap four for obvious reason) I was able to hold off for the win making it a hat trick for the morning/afternoon.

Very fun race, as there was always pressure. Even when the Merc driver wasn't behind me, the undercut was a threat. All while trying to manage pace, tires, and fuel (the Supra will come up short without some management or taking some during the pit).

Congratulations! I was in the same race as you. Even before the start of the flying lap during qualifying, I could tell that you were going to get pole. I tried to follow you during the flying lap, but you disappeared pretty quickly.

You finished the race so fast that I fell short of a few seconds of the deadline before crossing the finish line. :D

Whenever we get to any long version of the Nurburgring I always feel the format of an out lap before a flying lap doesn't suit qualifying well here. It's 40% of the race in this instance. Surely a "perfect conditions" on warmed up tyres with a start a couple of corners before the start/finish would work better here.
Anyway, I don't make the rules, but I can still play by my own rules! I just skipped qualifying, started from the back and had fun seeing where I ended up. I got a few penalties (working from the back the risk of going into slower drivers suddenly braking waaaay to early was higher), but also had some good racing with other cars, not just boring stuck on my own for ages and had a pretty good race, 3 laps on Hard then 2 on Medium, and finished 5th in the end.

A far better result than I initially expected coming into this final round. All for 199points, though they don't matter much in such a short season. All 3 races have gone very well, and each time I've enjoyed the Beetle more.

It felt at its best at The 'Ring. My first during slot 2 started off ok, but ended up lacklustre. A shoddy qualifying put me 8th, with an off-track excursion during lap 1on hards, meant I gambled with a 1H/4M strategy, and it nearly worked. Got up to 4th by the last lap, but my fronts were shot. As a result, I was accidentally punted off by an RX-V on fresher tyres, as I was being so cautious. Do I had to soldier home for 7th.

By contrast the final race of the day was a great improvement. A half decent (though not perfect) quali lap of 7:58 put me 5th. This time I went 3M/2H, which turned out to be the better strategy. I struggled for pace on the hards in the 2nd stint, but it allowed for a strong 1st stint. It even to me to briefly run 3rd, after a great little battle with a 911. Fuel was thankfully never an issue.

Overall a positive little season, and successful for me in testing an alternative option to the Honda's I've historically ran. VW is up there with the 2 other manufacturers I have in mind for a full season assault. Though their Gr.4 offerings will affect what I choose. More testing me thinks... 🤔.

Finished 3rd in Oceania Manufacturers GT2.

Missed taking part in the top points-paying slot which could've seen me win outright, but it was a fun round.

The races ended up being out of phase because it was a one hour slot to cover a 70 minute race and qualifying, so you missed the next race if you finished - this is a problem if you're trying to search for a high points paying race.

Crashed and spun 4 times in my first race and finished 4th, won from second on the grid for 147 points in my next go.

Ran a second one this evening, went a tad better. Qualied P6 with 8:11, finished P8 with constant pressure behind on the last two laps.

But lap 2, a driver who binned on lap1 caught up to me and completely shoves me aside in the early corners on the nord. I drop from P6 to P9. He goes on to set the fastest lap on that very same lap that holds up through the race. Then, on the final grid, I see he's DNF. Zero respect for that guy. Just Boo.

Anyway, P8 earns me... the exact same points that the morning P12 earned! Which is okay, I wasn't doing it for the points. I was tempted to grab a bite and go again for the fun of it, but I'm done.

The Lancer was my go-to Gr.3 before the update, but since then it hasn't felt the same. It was never a high top-end car, but still seems 'off'. There was an alien who put up a 7:50 on the leaderboard, so it can do it, just not in my hands. Unless there is another update, I'll move onto a differenet manu.

Glad you had a better race on the second attempt. I kept thinking that there was one more round at 20:00 that I could do but just logged in and see I missed the last chance. Wasn’t overly concerned either way but thought it would be fun to have another go at.

In the race we did earlier I let a Merc by that went on to punt the guy in front of me when just a smidge of patience would have still gotten him to where he was trying to go anyhow.

Glad it didn’t set you back too far and congrats on the second run with higher placing. It’s been great fun seeing you in most of the races I’ve joined in the series and hope to be meet again in the regular season.

Yes, I got that. The game handed over control earlier than I was expecting on pit exit, so the car was headed left and drifted over the white line before I realized. Luckily it didn’t matter because of where the penalty zone is located.

Had fun yesterday, as I always do around this track.
Ran slot 1 and was put into too strong of a second split for my skills. Had a "great" race for my limited standards, no big mistakes and a good qualy run.
Highlight of slot 1 was trying (and failing) to hold off @OutlawQuadrnt.
Finished P10, which felt more like a P2 to me 😄

Went in again for slot 2 and was put into either a much weaker 2nd split or a normal 3rd split (no clue). Qualified Q2 but couldn't hold off two clearly faster drivers and finished with a podium and 273 points. I nearly retook P2 on the run to the line, but came short by 0.003s 😳. Made for a nice photo finish!

Edit: here's the season summary. Stacked McLaren!! Where were these people when all we had was a GP2 engine, huh?? 🤣

I was able to do one slot yesterday evening in on the US side, running the LM II. If you've paid attention to many of my posts since joining (which I wouldn't blame you if you didn't!) you'll know I love the LM II. It's never been the META but can compete on a lot of tracks, especially those with longer straights as it's a rocket. I full expect PD to Nerf it as it's just as fast as the Supra... on the straights anyway as its brakes aren't quite as good.

My quali lap was pretty bad as others were finishing their laps I kept looking over at their times and messing up apexes. Thus, I started P5.

Fell to P6 on T1 as a Porsche driver went around the outside, which was a really nice move. But I got a better run coming onto the last little straight before Nord and as he and I were side-by-side he let off giving the position back; very smart, bigger picture move. Back to P5 behind two Porsches, a GTR and a ...Lambo? P1 went off on the right after the first straight so now P4 right behind the Lambo.

I was curious to see how the Lambo would do when the tires started to wear but never really got the opportunity, as the Lambo went full Lambo and, as they say, you never want to be on someone else's poster.:P

Up to P3. Nissan was next, and on the following lap he got a bad run going into the first straight after entering the Nord and the Ford's top end made it a pretty straight forward pass just before the kink.

Last up was a Porsche, and even though he was able to eek away a little on the infield portions, the straight line speed of the Ford is just so good it didn't matter. I made up 1.5 seconds on him on the back straight alone. As I got closer he made some minor mistakes, then by the 'middle' straight I was on him. Again, the Ford just closed and went by like it was nothing; the Porsche never stood a chance.

I was really looking forward to continuing the battle with the Porsche, but on the first carousal he spun and that's all she wrote. The GTR was maybe three seconds back at that point but pit at the end of lap three whereas I stayed out. I pit at the end of lap four, took on a little bit of fuel, and came out 11 seconds up. A lap later crossed the line in P1.

The only issue I had was there was a part of the track where my brakes would stop working. Not sure why exactly, but it didn't make a difference in the end.

This has maybe been my favorite race PD has done. I love Nords, and I think the duration and strat was very good. I did four of these yesterday and was legit mentally tired afterwards. It was also fun watching the aliens do some streams and tear up this track hitting faster race pace times than I was able to do in the TT. My best TT time was a 7:52.1 which I think was top 200 so not too shabby I guess.

I miss the track already and wish there was more do to on it today. Please bring it back, PD, as a daily at least!!!

Ended up in a split with @Spider-Racer, who I never saw outside of the grid walk. I Had no pace the entire time at the Nurburgring. Best I could do in FP was a 7:58 when my peers were doing 7:55 or (much) lower. I was hoping to have good race pace though. As much as I enjoy driving the Nordschleife portion, I hate racing there - mostly because of how tedious qualifying is. Still, I needed a 2nd score in order to realize my goal of being the top Chevy driver in the Americas, so I raced.

I only did the first slot, and qualified 15th of 16. I went 1H/4M and initially undercut my way up to 12th, but quickly lost spots down to 14th because I had absolutely no answer for their pace. That became 13th on the final lap when a Lamborghini that was part of the group I initially undercut binned it. The Ferrari that was the only car that qualified behind me gradually ran me down during the final stint and gained 9s on me to finally be in my slipstream down Dottinger Hohe for the final time, but outbrake himself for the final couple of corners. I finished P13 of the 15 that completed the race, ahead of only the much faster Lamborghini that crashed, and a Ferrari that also seemed quicker than me as well, and a full 9s behind 12th place. It was worth only 174 points, but that was still enough to bring me to the top of the Chevy standings, and I had absolutely no desire to race this combo again to try to get over 200 points when it was clear that I sucked, so I took those 174 points and went home.

Now for the season results:
Screen Shot 2023-04-23 at 2.08.55 AM.png

Screen Shot 2023-04-23 at 2.09.56 AM.png

I did manage to make it to the top of the Chevy standings in the region for the first time ever, but that was largely because I was literally the ONLY A+ driver to even compete with them (and the only driver to even top 200 points with them in ANY round). I'd been the top Corvette driver in the US before, but never the entire region. Also, even my backmarker finish at the Nurburgring was somehow enough to make me the top-scoring Corvette driver for that round too - even if it was only by 1 point...

I'd say the only real highlight from this is that I actually scored the most manufacturer points for Chevy GLOBALLY at Daytona.

Well I managed to ruin my short Hyundai test season by only racing in Interlagos. I missed Daytona (family emergency - nothing serious - 5' before the race) and Nürburgring (despite 30 years of sim racing I still suffer from Nordphobia).

I feel the Hyundai has untapped potential but I was unable to put it thoroughly to the test. I am now thinking of what to choose for the next season, which will probably be the real deal.

On one hand I want to lead the charge with a less-popular brand, but on the other hand I am still chasing my personal goal of A+. I have been high A since the launch of GT Sport and I know I have it in me, but to help me achieve it I should choose a "competitive" manufacturer, but I also don't want to be one of many in the same car in every race.

I am using the VW Scirocco Gr4 in a touring car league so I am really considering VW. Unfortunately my beloved WRX seems to be more handicapped than ever so Subaru I guess will be a no for me. Alfa Romeo has always interested me but I am a bit miffed at the MR festival the game has become since the update. Maybe I'll test the Citroëns a bit.

It's likely the next choice will be for the long haul so we must choose wisely.

So I guess they just take all your points away if you leave a race just before it starts. 🤕

Price of going out to run and winning my class with my RC Viper in the real world.

That's life 🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️
