I used to really care about my DR, and managed to get to mid A tier for about a year. This involved preparing for races, putting time into qualifying and selecting combos where I was strong to either maintain or increase my DR. Over the last 6 months I’ve taken online far more casually. Often starting from the back and doing races for fun. As it is I’ve fallen to a high DRB and therefore into the GT2 category. At the same time, the races I’ve enjoyed the most have been the longer GTWS races. My new rating allows me to join a race with minimal preparation and generally get a good result.

To have the chance of participating in a longer race taken away from me because of the way I choose to enjoy the game seems arbitrary and unfair. So much so, that I briefly considered putting a bit of effort in to regain my A rating over the last few days. But that approach endorses PD’s misguided decision to split the player base in this way. As it is I’ll probably do a handful of Nations/Manu over the next month, and hope that my lack of dedication and that of the other players tells PD that they called this one wrong.

Welp, the proof will be in the pudding tomorrow when people start posting up how many people finished the race in all leagues. I’ll be curious to see the results

I haven’t done any practice lobbies, so I don’t know what the consensus on strat is for GT1, but my testing gives me a one-stop in the RX-V as optimal. Likely 10m14h or 14h/10m, both with a refuel. The race alone is going to be over 50 minutes.

Heads-up:
  • Mandatory number boxes are back, just like in GT Sport days (and the current season of the GR GT Cup).

  • The T&C also has a clause that a top-ranking Croatian player would receive a GT World Series t-shirt. No idea if this is a local law thing or finals location hint. (Phone photo because I am not sure if the game will allow screenshots of it - the game wouldn't let me record it last year.)

T&Cs also say that DR Cs should be in GT2 with the Bs. They’ve said this before and the Cs have ended up in GT3, so we’ll see if it changes this time.

Those number boxes are going to mess up all my hard work making a livery :(

Wow. A 24 Lap race. Didn’t realise it was the WTC800 Spa event. Also funny how last weekend was the Hankook 12H of Spa. . It’s good track, but my last time at Spa was in Gr.4 Daily Race. Would like a different track. I’ve got an hour to make up my mind.

Happy for someone to correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm sure yesterday that the UK races times in game were 6pm, 8pm and 10pm. Logged in today and they now show 3pm, 5pm and 7pm?

Why wouldn't you enter Nations?
Usually main reason is because I don’t like driving road cars and non GT cars etc, but also I just don’t like the way it often ends up a one car meta race if you do get Gr.3 and Gr.4 races.

Not keen on the gr.3/4 races picked for nations. Although I may be tempted into the Gr.2 race at Fuji. See how my practice lap time are looking before I commit :)

Just finished Oceania slot 1, same race as @SUPRASTAR0003 . The race is loooong.

The Supras are still meta. My best qualy lap got ruined by someone who was cruising and looked like they were letting me past through Blanchimont and then pushed me wide for a track penalty. Ended up Q10.

The race itself was mostly pretty good. Started on Hards and some wipeouts (assisted and unassisted) saw me up to p7 pretty early. Got in a small tangle with a Corvette who was hell bent on diving and door banging. Eventually he managed to unbalance me into Les Combes and I lost 3 spots. The Corvette then started running a few other people off up ahead and I got 2 spots back.

Pit stops started around lap 8 and by the time I pitted on lap 14 I was p4. Came back out in p9 on the fresh mediums. The Rx-V handles so well on the meds and I quickly picked up 2 spots. Nabbed another one when a Supra spun at Malmedy.

With 2 laps left of this endurance test I was 6 seconds behind the Corvette in 5th and 6 seconds in front of 7th. “Just keep it straight, don’t do anything silly”.

And then the aggressive Corvette caught p4 on the Kemmel and the yellows came out as I approached Bruxelles. The Corvette was in the sand and the p4 Supra was only 2 seconds ahead with a 3 sec penalty.

The last lap was an exercise in controlling my nerves as I brought it home safe and sound for p4. About 240 pts banked.

BTw, there is definitely a matching bug for GTWS. One of (if not THE) highest ranked players in Oceania was sorted into second split and won by 40 seconds. I can’t imagine he’s happy about the points on offer. Given he’s an NPC in the game, I imagine PD will find out about it shortly…

Congrats to Shifting Gears.

Now, this some BS. I purposefully qualified on RH to be down the bottom. 13/13. I was going to cruise around. I wound up 12/13(about 4-5 seconds behind pole and 2 seconds off P11). A Genesis behind me didn’t set a time.

Race is on and I think someone went off. I was behind this black Supra that was all over the place. Lap 3, the Supra goes off. It kept going off. Some J.KnuckLe head guy. He side bumps me for a pass.

Anyway, I ran long to Lap 17. A red Supra had penalties. I didnt know where it started, but I was out of the way. The Supras were fast on the straights. I was moving over, but the Supra was getting another penalty. I was around P3 or P4. ShiftingGears was way back and catching. When the red Supra goes by, he side bumps me. So, I flashed him. Whatever.

I can see the AMG needs more fuel. I added about 8 laps with 7 to go. No fuel saving as I’m 11/13 when I exit the pits. Sitting 12/13, I’m catching the three cars ahead. Passed a BRZ and then a GT-R, when we caught that J.Knucklehead. All on worn tyres.

Was about to run out of fuel before Blanchimont. Pulled off the line as those cars went past.

Same old post race chatter.

Edit: @ShiftingGears, thought you won that.

Started 5th in an all B/S lobby, no doubt helped by the amount of Spa runs we've had over the last few weeks in the daillies.

Quickly slipped back to 7th in race as I was just too hesitant off the start. Once settled down I was running a bit better, got up to 4th as the pole sitter seemingly fell back through the pack and caused a few wide corners and door bangers on the way, then quit out so not sure what happened to them.

Was running with the lead pack and decided to pit early as I could see we were losing ground to the cars coming up behind, came out in 5th and got taken by a couple of quick runners in the final part of the race, fair play to them. Put me in 7th and that's where I finished.

Not particularly amazing result or race but i'm unlikely to get a higher place in another go. Out to watch the footy now but may be tempted into another run later, will have to check the schedule and my blood/alcohol level once I'm back.

Have fun out there

Up the Toon!

That is something I'd like to see too. If people posted at the end of there reports how many quit. Be interesting to see what the average is across the 3 leagues.

The problem with 55 minute races is that you still have absolute mouthbreathers who will try to punt you in the last few laps for having the audacity to pass them.

Imagine a game with a decent penalty system and a report system that can stop stuff like this happening.

So this a copy of the T&C and the last point they added is just a waste of time.

GT2 B - I tried it with the RCZ just for fun , its not bad car

Qualified in P12 with 2.21 slow i know ha

Race went okayish not much really happened , my tactic was use the RM tyres as much as possible which i did but in 10 lap they been pretty much done so i went RH after 10 lap , i been from P12 up to P6 but of course after pit i ended up in P9

eh enough for me , at least did my objective :D

Decided to use the Ford GT LM Race - it was over a second faster for me in practice than the likes of the Supra, GTR and 458.

Euro GT2. Went out last in qualification. Managed my best lap of the week, only good for P10. Started on the hards, was really tricky on fresh tyres and full fuel. Managed to hold position for the first 4 laps as others went off. The GT is beastly in sector 1, flying up the hill - had cars in the slipstream but pulled away easily.

Pitted lap 4 as some traffic approached. Came out P14 on the mediums and had fun working my way back through the midfield. Managed to hold off an AMG in a nice clean battle over the final two laps. Finished P8 for 59 points, my best for a while.

A lot less tyre wear than I was expecting based on my practice race. The leaders went 10 laps on the mediums, I could probably have done the same and pitted lap 2.

Yeah it was ridiculous. Literally parked it on the apex, if you went around the outside you'd get run off track. If you made a move stick, he'd accelerate and hit you wide at the next corner. The only way I could've avoided that is by just plowing into him at the bus stop.

Yeah they changed them. There goes my 11pm slot I was silly enough to get excited about. :(
