I keep seeing it mentioned, where does it tell you what "split" group you are in?
There’s the league (GT1, GT2 and GT3) based on your DR. Not sure if you get upgraded if you then get tossed with same DR drivers.
No, that's not what people are talking about. "Splits" are drivers running the same race at the same time grouped according to DR, and therefore pace.

The "Top Split" would be a lobby consisting of only drivers ranked at or near maximum DR - primarily or exclusively World Tour/Series drivers. "Second Split" would be a lobby running the same race at the same time with high A+ DR but only near maximum and not at it - with some World Tour/Series drivers but not many. "Third Split" would be still high A+ DR, but lower down and with fewer, if any World Tour/Series drivers, and so on.

And the answer is that it doesn't. It's basically estimated by the players themselves.

Think of it like a matchmaking pyramid. Top 16, the next 16, etc.... More points available the higher the split.

You won't know what split you are in. Only estimate. You often read someone say they were in the top split, that is easier to estimate because the point total would be the highest in the round.

I know it’s not the same but I wasn’t sure what he was referring to.

So let’s say you’re in GT3 and get upgraded to DR B, do you still get matched with DR C/D/E drivers or with DR B drivers from GT3 or GT2?

GT class applies for the Round.

In your example, DRB in GT3 would get matched with other DRB and the highest ranked C in GT3.

I'm in GT2, I'm DRB. About a 1/3 of the competition has been DR A. Presumably they started the Round at DRB and have moved up since.

Cool thanks. I started a fresh US account and I’m in GT3. I’ve since got promoted to DR C and I’m grinding this account to DR B so it’s good to know that I’ll have some good races this week.

It is easy to judge if you are in top split (and usually 2nd and 3rd) in Oceania as there are a very small number of regulars at the very top of the rankings. If you see a couple of them you’re definitely in top split.

Did the nations race just now. Qualified P1 in GT2 on my main account. Finished 6th. It’s a fun race this one. I didn’t know the track and lacked consistency. Also managed to miss a few braking points and bumped into others. I’m sorry.

I could swear the penalties were not on. Didn’t see anyone get a penalty and it was carnage out there. I didn’t get penalties either not for bumping and not for hitting the barrier on that fast left.

I’ll definitely do more if I have the time today. Give it a go if you want some variety and longer than 5 laps races. No strategy though. It’s a sprint.

I got a crossing pit lane lines penalty in Qualy even though the game threw me out pointed at the lines and I immediately swung the wheel right, impossible to avoid.

I got an ignoring yellow flags penalty even though the car in front hit the rail and is the reason I passed.

I'm meant to just stop and wait for him to get going again?

I don't mind the spirit of either of these penalties but they sure need some work.

That first corner

Dear oh dear
Just had a brilliant nations cup right up until lap 8.
Qualified P5 and got a good start up the hill, 1st corner was sensible by all. Made my way up to P4 and was on the bumper of P3 and then I braked 1 million second too late. Nudged P3 but they stayed on the track and I got 2 second. After that I was trying to make up ground and caught up and then lap 9 someone spun up ahead and I was about to make the ,ove the car unghosted and I went off. P9 finish 😤
Going again in 15mims

The yellow flag penalties need to go.

IRL there are good safety reasons for them. Slow/disabled cars on/near track. Debris on track. Personal on/near track.

In game there are no good reasons for them. In game cars are put in ghost mode and there is no threat to the other drivers. There are no personal or debris issues. There is no reason to have someone else's wreck affect the gameplay of good drivers in a battle for position.

Not only that, people are abusing it at DR B and lower. They'll move to the side and break so you pass them. They lose .5 sec doing it but you get a 3 sec penalty.

First slot of Sardenha Nations 16:00

Got 7th Qualy place.

I saw an old friend (for worst reasons) on the field.
Starting the race was hilarious, because I forgot to add TC to 1. Standing start with a Vette without TC is madness.
Therefore, I was spinning tyres for a while and before T1 was in 11th.

Managed to climb to P2 at middle race laps. Couple of overtakings and a couple of opponent mistakes.

The P1 driver was >1 second faster per lap, so I just managed the 6 sec for P3.

BTW the old friend fil bmw and a new friend ares43 were both in a Porsche and they were having fun
diving and pushing inside corners (because this move has not a penalty, acording to PD) :irked:
And god, and they know why, they were in P3 & P4 for a couple of laps. :dopey: They lost those places, tho.

Finished P2 and I'm happy with that.

I had that same penalty coming out of the pits. Absolutely ridiculous. I wasn’t paying full attention, however I don’t think even if I was I could’ve stopped it from crossing the line

I’ve found the best thing to do I steer in the opposite direction before the auto drive finishes, when auto drive finishes you should steer away from the line.

Someone get a clean-up crew in hazmat suits to Sardegna, I just experienced one of the dirtiest lobbies I can remember with a ton of mid-race drama in the chat.

Finishing near the back in yesterday's Manufacturers dropped me back down to A, but the range of DR appearing in these lobbies is still much wider than I ever remember seeing in GT Sport. Really hoping that changes when the real seasons start as right now this is a bit mental. Unfortunately, that included a certain individual (won't name directly as I'm guessing that'd be considered naming and shaming and likely against forum rules) who is infamous for extremely unsporting behaviour and regularly publicly shamed on JSR_Devon's Idiots of the Week series on YouTube.

I qualified P14 with a 1:42.459 in my Viper and played it extremely safe around the outside as carnage unfolded into turn 1. I thought I'd survived, but a Finn in the VW VGT had no intentions whatsoever of leaving any racing room, forcing me over the kerbs and completely destablising my car at the slight right-left chicane so around I went. :irked:

I moved up to P14 on lap 2 after passing a Beetle that had made a mistake and spun out at the chicane before the sharp left in the final sector. That became P12 on lap 3 after passing a VW VGT that dropped it at turn 1 and an Aston Martin that dropped coming out of the sharp left near the end of sector 2.

The Aston Martin clipped my rear corner whilst I was right on the edge of balancing the car going past the church on lap 4 and that led to me getting spun out again. However, I was genuinely surprised to find he/she had slowed down further up the track and was waiting for me to catch up and go past. If you see this Tomikk, you deserve S+ for sportsmanship as you didn't have to do that.

Whilst all of this was going on, some serious punting had been going on up at the front with a German repeatedly taking out the infamous individual right at the start of the race and then again several laps later after they came back into contact. On lap 7 I went from being "oooooh" to seeing a long set of yellow flags at the final turn, thinking I could at least recover another position, only to start saying "NO NO NO NO" after realising I was about to pass the infamous punter who had spun out. Thankfully he didn't actually have a go at me, instead repeatedly going on auto-drive to call out the German who'd introduced him to the barriers.

End result P12, didn't catch how many points. If my races keep going like this, I'll be in the GT2 league soon enough. 😅

How many times do people risk racing again?
Done a 2nd race. Q in P2. Decent start, turn 1 racer in P4 just decide to ram everyone and guess what… they went into win the race too. Got spun and ended up last. Managed to get round and finish P5.
Not sure whether to enter the next one or just leave it at my P5? I feel like I can get a podium.

Some seriously dirty racing out there down at banger level; first race of the day I got PIT maneuvered on the straight well before we'd even got to the first turn. Straight to the back, did manage to get back up to 7th but then dropped a couple of places at the end.
Had another go in the next race and someone was slow out of the last corner, saw me coming for the overtake on the straight & tried to force me out onto the grass - and this is in quali! Race was pretty bumpy for the first two laps, settled down after that - I wasn't fast enough to catch the front group but could stay ahead of those behind, finished P6. I'll take that and move on!

Must say; grid stars are WAY better than rolling starts, this is a big plus!

Qualified P1 in a B/S race in GT2. Got wiped out first corner, ended up 15th and recovered to 3rd. No one was getting penalties, a French guy was literally ramming people off at every corner and got no penalties. It amazes me how some people are SR S.

This is the primary reason I fell out with GT Sport, and as much as I have done a couple of races in GT7 online, it hasn't filled me with confidence to go back in properly.

Hi! Maybe Im lucky but yesterday and today I was in really clean lobbies... unfortunately I made so many so big mistakes that my results were poor:D

Have to say I know exactly what you mean. Some drivers seem to know how to play the rules and get away with it.
I didn’t play GTSport so GT7 was the first time I’ve come across the online racing. So far I’ve only done 30 online races and achieved 6 clean races and I’m upto C/S already. No I don’t know if that is about right but I feel like I’ve jumped up the leagues too quickly. I would say I am a clean racer and try at all costs to be fair but I have made a fair few mistakes that have effected others races

From my experience today, collision penalties were most definitely off - did anyone see one in their races?

I wonder if this was done due to the standing start. I had two attempts and both were just chaos into the first corner and indeed across the first lap. There would have been penalties all over the place from turn 1 alone.

It did eventually settle down, and I'm happy to come away with 6th, but there definitely moments where even I was expecting a contact penalty and it never came.

Interlagos will be very interesting tomorrow. Did few training laps in my BMW this evening. Try to earn much points tomorrow.

1st slot. Got stuck in matchmaking. Let me keep running laps. Then disco after 15 minutes. Might try the last slot after dinner.

My face when I discovered I could use soft tires in the free practice for Interlagos...

Happy Chris Pratt GIF by Parks and Recreation

I ran a 30 minute session and was way off the pace more so than usual. I just jumped in and didn't even notice what the tire options were. So, I did some more laps on the soft tires and my time was way better. Interlagos is one of my weaker tracks to race at, so I'll be a happy back-marker and take what points I can.

Is this next Manu race going to have a required pit stop? I didn't see it the race description unless I missed it.

Epic LOSS to a dirty driver while #LIVE Gran Turismo 7 GTWS Nations Cup 2022 Test Season 2 - Round 2

Just placed 2nd to a dirty racer that brake checks me first turn and puts me into the wall on turn 3. I lost 😡 my 💩 and raged on mic. Battle back from 9th. Rage 😤 Enioy?
