Let it be forever known that I did actually win* at least one Nations and Manu season.

Also, I have proof somewhere but I've represented every Manufacturer in Gran Turismo since GT Sport except for two; Chevy and Toyota. That's why this incessant delay to get another season going is particularly frustrating. I want to knock that silly accomplishment off my list.

* Because it was an exhibition and all the aliens didn't even bother to show up
To me it's just an interesting exercise. But you're right in that it doesn't really give any context of "strength of field" or unique circumstances for many of those seasons, so I try to avoid drawing too many conclusions from it.

Likewise there are GTWS season winners who never qualified for a GTWS live event, and there are GTWS event qualifiers, event winners and World Championship winners who didn't ever win an online season either.
I did not expect Bonelli to already surpass Rubilar in total series wins
Nico won using 2 PSN accounts, so he has the most with 33 in total.

Funny enough, I actually "qualified" for GTWS Paris representing Lexus because of an exhibition season. Just so happened that the American winner from the first Finals couldn't make it to Paris, and so PD picked the Lexus winner of the last exhibition season as a substitute. Could not believe my luck. lMy first WT in Austria was also under somewhat similar circumstances.
Isn't this a violation of the rules of "one account only"
Technically, yes, but PD historically only really cared about using more than one account during official seasons.

Not sure what to make of it, but the ID on today's new time trial is significantly higher than last week's: 12341 versus 12257 for the US events. That's a jump of 84, which is bigger than usual. For comparison, the jump last was only a 5 (12252 to 12257) for last week's time trial. Could this be a sign that a new GTWS is on the way? I hope so.
Revisiting this, on noticing ID gaps between new TT this week: (July/August events only)
  • R34 Z-Tune @ Kyoto Yamagiwa: 12414
  • Japan National Prefectural Esports (12466) and TGR e-Motorsports Challenge League (12467) sits around here.
  • 4C Gr.4 @ Trial Mountain: 12477 (+63; +10 if accounting for the Japan-only TTs)
  • S13 Q's @ Streets of Willow: 12488 (+11)
  • RE Amemiya RX-7 @ Nurb GP: 12590 (+102)
  • R8 '07 @ Dragon Trail Gardens: 12624 (+34)

Guess who's back:
Hooray! I was about to ask where the championships went, why haven't they been around for so long?

Guess who's back:
They've left the link to the schedule pointing at round 2, if anyone was like me and getting déjà vu looking at the rounds.

The actual schedule is here: https://www.gran-turismo.com/gb/gt7/sportmode/championship/1468/1

In text form:
  1. X2019 @ Red Bull Ring, likely wet, GTWS Berlin combo
  2. JGTC special event cars @ Suzuka, like the daily C a few weeks back
  3. 962 C @ Monza No Chicane, GTWS Berlin combo
  4. X2019 @ Grand Valley reverse, GTWS London combo
  5. Gr.3 selection (4C, VW VGT, RCZ, Citroen, Ford GT GTE) @ Maggiore West
  6. 2015-16 LMP1s @ Le Mans

Yay we’re back!

2 X2019 rounds and a Gr3 - in a Nations Cup! Pass.

If they can’t even put on a decent schedule for this, instead of rehashes and the same vehicles every time, I don’t see much point continuing with this game. I was only hanging around for GTWS.

What is PD' obsession with using the RB X2019? So many other cars to choose from and we have 2 rounds with that monstrosity. I'll take a hard pass on GV reverse.

Wow! I wasn't expecting that. I figured with the recent announced deal with Dunlop that we wouldn't see another season until after the December update when they've had a chance to change the default tires skins everywhere.

I guess it's time to dust off the X2019. Is there any indication if the weather at Red Bull Ring will be scripted or random?

I'm looking forward to the Gr.3 round. I've been spending the past few months running Gr.3 dailies in the Ford GT to prepare for the Manu Cup, so I'm pretty comfortable in it.

That exercise has shifted my DR back down to the high-B range, though, so I'll be racing in the GT2 league this season. It's nice to see that they are keeping the same race settings across the GT1 and GT2 leagues. I'm glad they aren't dumbing down the races.

It looks like they haven't done anything to fix the time slot problems for GT1 drivers. Still only 3 inconveniently scheduled slots. At least in GT2, I have some options in the afternoon.

Holy moly, that's a masochistic lineup of races. I'd been anxious about getting replicas of the X2019 rounds from London and Berlin appearing at some point and suddenly boom, both of them in one season. :boggled:

I was in the crowd at London. It felt tense being in the same room as the pros, watching them blast through the tunnel and then slam on the brakes to throw the car into the chicane at GVH Reverse. Just visions of horror imagining that for the rest of us.

Likewise with driving the X2019 in the wet. Watching the livestream from Berlin and realising they'd be using it in mixed conditions for the first time (I think?) had me very, very surprised and quietly hoping we wouldn't get that one later down the line. Oh boy...

(And I say that whilst finding X2019 races are often the ones I do best in!)

Then there's the Porsche 962Cs at Monza and Group 1 Le Mans as well. This season's going all out on high downforce categories. :scared:

I'm not certain if I'll take part in this one yet. My job is particularly hectic at the moment and will be for a while to come. I might not be in the right frame of mind to properly commit to this, it might just end up being unnecessary stress.

Races five and six look okay; interesting lineup for those (VW VGT? Hm, okay).

I think race two would be cool but it'll end up being a pseudo-one-make with all the cars looking exactly the same. Think lime green Porsches around Deep Forrest. Most probably don't care but for me it kinda ruins the atmosphere.

Those RB cars don't really do anything for me. They're okay, but I'll never understand PD's fascination with them for these WS events. I agree with the article, we had our final race in a league I am in at RBR in mixed conditions in the F3500 and it was quite good.

And yea, those GT1 time slots are bad. Again. What gives, Kaz?

GL to all that do any of the races! I am glad to see them back again for sure.

I won't be able to do the first race, which is a shame because I think I'd do well with the X2019 in the wet just by keeping it on the track.

Still, races! PD remembering they have an online game and should be making people play it!

Giving Red Bull Ring some practice just in case I feel like taking part and wow, that's a difficult combo. I think I've just about got it down driving the Inters conditions at the start but the pit exit for the dry stint looks like it could be murder incarnate.

The autodrive slowed down to about 30KPH on the pit exit before handing back control. Even on TCS3 I instantly binned it trying to build up a little bit of speed to roll out onto the dry line.

I find the trick with these cars is just to take 2 gears higher instantly….

That said I was 13th this morning and now 900….. but I’d imagine there is the drying track scenario in QT (I only did 6 and a spin at the start lap) but I bet a pit for softs after 6/7 laps is the way to go for practice.

If we are starting the race in mixed conditions then I have no idea on strat with the whole drying thing…

One thing PD really need to improve is the in-game schedule.

Five of the rounds are just "Specified car" there; at that point you may as well not even bother giving the information out.
I agree, it’s a weird cloak of secrecy…

If they told us and we practiced the racing would be better……yet hiding it all behind the curtain is “yes a surprise” but it’s not just top level people playing this game.

As much as it’s corporately well intentioned it’s really not ticking the boxes for the multitude of people that do these

Yeah, it does dry up. #1 kept going for well over an hour and the track's bone dry.

I'm scanning over the Berlin final to remember and the winning strat was risky.
  • Inters until the end of lap 6-7 (5 if feeling confident as Labouteley survived it and gained a position from it).
  • Softs until the end of lap 15-17, driving into the rain as long as you dare. Staying out saves a lot of rear tyre life on the Inters whilst the track dampens, potentially making it possible to skip a pit stop.
  • Inters to the end if possible, looking for wet patches to slow the tyre wear as the track dries up again.
Important thing to consider that could throw it off however- they had 12 cars on the track. This will have 16, so the track will dry quicker...

So did your practice session just go from wet to dry without the mid-race rain that they had in Berlin, then? Was the weather radar clear the whole time?

I don't even think it's deliberately secret, to be honest; I just think that screen was built for the GT Sport era where it was always either a Gr. race or a one-make, and nobody's realised that with GT7's more complex roster adding a second car to the regulations breaks that screen.

If they knew, I'm pretty sure they'd fix it for the X2019+X2019 25th Anniversary if nothing else, given how often that combination comes up.

That mid-race rain is there in free practice too.

Lap 13 - it's incoming:

Arrived for me early into lap 15:

And then I binned it shortly afterwards... 😅

Thank you, this is super helpful and much appreciated!

FWIW, I did 30 laps in free practice last night and saw the same thing.

Went for the same spin on lap15, too. Or maybe it was 14. Regardless, that first spat of rain seems dangerous. I can see now why some of the drivers in Berlin pitted earlier for IMs. I'm going give it a few more tries before Wednesday. If I'm consistently binning it when that rain first hits I might start looking at switching to IMs earlier and doing a 3-pit strategy.

I wish there were some way to run free practice with tire wear enabled. I have no idea if I'd be able to make the IMs last to the end with the 2-stop.
