Two races for me since I didn't actually post about Spa at the weekend. At least that way there will be SOMETHING good to post in (blatant foreshadowing for what just happened today...)

Spa
I qualified P12 with a 2:19.906 after a scruffy lap. I strayed wide going through the Fagnes chicane after the car wouldn't turn in. Had I not done that, I could potentially have been 2-3 positions higher.

Starting on the bus stop chicane is always "fun". I turned in too quickly when auto drive ended and sort of cut it, and the horrible start meant I'd instantly lost the tow to the cars in front. I'm wondering if the sharp cut over the kerb somehow made my tyres dirty because when it then came to stopping at La Source, the car just refused and I ended up bowling off the end of it. Straight down to P13.

That then became P14 when a Lambo slipstreamed me down the Kemmel Straight on lap 2. Not a great start. A Lexus had spun at the Bus Stop though, so back up to P13.

If anyone had a dry race and found it boring without the rain, I apologise because I apparently once again needed a digital bath. I got all of it. My race started with a horizontal band of rain approaching from the south. A few people started pitting at the end of lap 4, but I decided to try risk it and stay out one or two more. One would have been the right call, but I got greedy. The rain hit Intermediates territory around Pouhon on lap 6 and I very nearly slid off the track at Stavelot right after watching the Lambo do it a moment earlier.

I carefully got back to the pits, put the Inters on along with a dash of fuel and came back out in P12. A Porsche had binned it coming out of Pouhon on lap 7, so up to P11. That became P10 a few laps later after a Lambo outbraked himself at the end of the Kemmel Straight and went off onto the runoff area.

By this point the rain had picked up and the bar was on the second line. Wets would have been better, but I was hoping it would pass fast enough that it would end up being better than pitting for Wets. That theory was put to the test as several people pitted for Wets at the end of lap 10. Provisional P6 for now.

I caught back up with the McLaren in P5 by the start of lap 13, helped by him serving a track limits penalty. However, the Wet runners had been closing the gap and I had both a Mercedes and a Lambo in my rear view mirror. I got P5 after the McLaren fumbled going up Eau Rouge, but both the Mercedes and Lambo were past me by the end of the Kemmel Straight. Inters were definitely not competitive at this point.

A different McLaren on Wets then got me into Eau Rouge on lap 15. At this point I'm starting to think I've screwed it up and I'm praying for things to dry up, and fast. An Audi on Wets then got me down the Kemmel Straight; really thinking I've messed up. P9 for now.

Lap 16 sees me make an absolute mess of Eau Rouge and Radillion, going too far left on the entry and then also failing to get the car back over to the right for the crest of the hill. I got slapped with a 1.5s penalty for the double cut. :ouch:

Serving that one let the McLaren I'd passed earlier get back in contention and he passed me on the approach to Blanchimont after I'd served it. Back down in P10...

The good news however, is that things were starting to dry at the start of lap 17 as the rain had passed. The question was, would it dry quickly enough to punish those on the Wets?

The McLaren on Inters and I caught the Wets pack (along with a Peugeot on Inters) at Les Combes on lap 18, and one of them was carrying a 1 second penalty. Between the Inters McLaren having a poor exit out of Stavelot and the other serving the penalty, I was up to P7 by Blanchimont. I lost it again soon after at La Source though, after going a bit deep and having a poor exit trying to get off the kerb.

By the start of the final lap, I was back in the train with the Inters McLaren, Peugeot, Audi and Lambo. The Audi lost it a bit through Les Combes and had to catch the car, so I was able to pass him to get P7 and that's where I stayed. 200 points in the end, which I was happy with and didn't go again.

Sardegna A Reverse
That's the good bit out of the way. Rant mode engaged. Whoever came up with this combo needs their head checked. Maybe even who decided this track needs a reverse layout. It's AWFUL.

I was off the pace at the back and still had a horrendous time of it. This is easily the worst race of the season for me, and I didn't see that coming after Interlagos.

I qualified P15 with a 1:41.826 and was very briefly in P12 by the time I even reached the braking point for turn 2 because turn 1 was a slaughter. I exited the corner in P13 though after having to take it extremely tight. A Ferrari up ahead somehow picked up a 0.5s penalty, and I'm not sure how. Cutting turn 1 seemed to give 1 second in free practice, and being responsible for someone spinning out would presumably have given more.

A Lexus pushed the Ferrari off at turn 2 on the following lap, so up to P12. A different Ferrari got a run on me down to the right-hander in front of the church and went for the inside line so I was back down to P13.

The first Ferrari caught up to me on lap 3 and went for the run down the main straight on lap 4. At this point my race ended. I had the Ferrari on my inside and a Jaguar right behind me. I'm in a position where I can't feasibly back out of attempting to take turn 1 two-wide. I think I'd barely managed to get the line right, but I felt a bump with the Ferrari which nudged me and I slammed into the wall. My bounce off utterly murdered the Jaguar, who then quit.

I ended up driving around on my own for 8 laps, with a Porsche who'd died in the turn 1 chaos somewhere further back.

P14, no idea how many points because I didn't look. What a waste of time. That extended qualifying was utterly pointless too considering just how quickly the race degenerated into carnage, even in an A+ lobby.

At this point I kind of want to be demoted back to A. I am struggling so, so much this season and feel out of place in A+. The Nurburgring was the only round where I've qualified higher than 12th. Just going to have to wait and see what Suzuka brings, but I'm not really expecting any better for the moment. I'm not bad at Suzuka, but I'm expecting to be at the back again.

This isn't a good event, the qualifying time is about as long as the race, also the track you are very hemmed in and you are right on the tail of the car in front so you have to brake earlier than they do so you don't hit them, then you cannot get past them on the straights as you need to catch them back up, they should have had a pit stop and have to use RS & RM or something, if you go off or get hit everyone is bunched up so they all fly past you.

I started 14th and finished 13th, going to have another go now.

Sorry now but that doesn't sound like someone who regrets their actions 🤔 more like damage limitation after getting caught.

I outqualified you again today. I wouldn't pick Nissan again.

I don't think it's the car. I haven't tried any others since the big BOP change but I'd be very surprised to find I'm suddenly much faster or more consistent in something else. Most of the laps I was running in free practice were high 1:41s, so that qualifying wasn't anything unusual. My 1:41.2 on the leaderboards was a fluke. I managed a 1:41.3 earlier today, but that was also very unexpected.

I genuinely think I'm just at my limit in A+, and I'm honestly not good enough to be competitive at this rating. I've been in A+ for the majority of the time GT7 came out. My last win was almost 2 and a half years ago, and I've done about 120 races since then. I've had it almost within reach a couple of times, but for me to even be running that close to the front is a very rare occurrence in itself.

I can just about get by and maintain enough DR to stay in A+ with the right combo of races, but I have always found myself weaker at Manufacturers than Nations. Qualifying is something I've never been particularly good at too; having the tyre wear on makes the car feel just different enough to throw me off a lot of the time. At my current DR, you just can't have that weakness.

Q13, get punted by a German moron in a green Supra in the second big stopping right-hander (Piaggio) who just shovelled through it, finish 14 due to one guy quitting and the guy who started right behind me in the McLaren spinning at the same corner (we were pretty close after that, and he raced very nicely). Given the lap one time loss, P6 was possible.

Good going, Supra moron.
Went again for some reason. Was on a decent Q lap when I caught up with a French Ferrari dolt and a Hungarian Genesis assclown smacked seven bells out of each other without any situational awareness. Would have been Q8 but Q14.

FFd then tried battering his way up the field, clearing enough space for me to get P9 (after smacking an NSX into the side of me), then a Supra revenge murdered him in the 140mph kink, and the Supra self-pwned out of the very last corner.

Best points of the season, race still blew.

I think I hate that circuit, we're driving it the wrong way round so if you make a little mistake there is a wall in a dangerous place that will kill you and all the corners tighten on the exits so it's just frustrating to drive with no flow. Still it was a really close qualifying from pole to last was only 8 tenths, of course I was 16th of those (honestly I'm not sure I could've found any more pace) but kept out of trouble in the race to finish p9.

Honestly, im not sure how it affects any of us here.
Is not, but it show the kind of problems tha this kind of competition can bring

This, I just couldn't be comfortable on this round with the reverse track, the previous rounds I was finisging around P4-P6 and on this round I finished P11

Yes, but what problem to who? That’s my point.

The way it’s set up, the race choices the “partner brands” the bop and meta crap.

It’s a problem for the top guys but the issues are way way deeper than just some ringers doing races.

The bigger problems affect us all, match fixing at the top .25% affects basically just a few top players.

I think this track is one that can only be driven the correct way, it's just not designed to be driven in reverse, it is more like a street circuit if anything, there is only really one line and you are enclosed with the barriers and walls, everyone is also pretty bunched up so one mistake or hit and you lose a load of places, they would have been better off running this the correct way and having it twenty laps and you have to use RS & RM's.

Well today was an overall decent race but not on of my favourite this championship tbh. This track is so problematic with people who cant take the lines and the first turn always kills/shadowrealms someone in the main race to oblviion!

GTWS Manu cup - Round 5 - EMEA Region - GT3 League - 8PM Slot - LEXUS RCF 'GT3 17 - RM Tyres - TCS 2 BB -3

The practice runs were better than my qualy, I was getting an ok pace with 1:43 times. Then we it came to the actual long winded qualifying it was manic.

Entering the qualifying, I exited the pits and this driver in a Porsche just doesnt understand radar and spacial awarenesss decides to go full tilt on turn 2 and destroy my 2nd lap and then it was cause of manageing the damage, ths wasnt help by a few more laps where i kept hitting the barrier on other laps and causing more damage to the Lexus. I did mange a 1:43 time but that only placed me low below at 10th place for the race. Whent he race started it changed to 9th fro some reason so i took it.

I soaked it up and began the race. Start was smooth, getting good pace, turn 2 was a bit manic, but exited cleanly to be in 9th place and chasing the pack but the second right turner caused havoc, everyone accordianed the barrier and the stupid game gave me a 2sec penalty, even thogh i got shunted bya nissan from behind. Great wonderful. This is why this reverse layout doesnt work but PD are what they are I guess. :yuck:

Recovered to push into the 7th place, chasing the 6th car and mainting a good pace to the laps 2-5. Kept pushing and chasing a NISMO GT3, to almost be there on the stretch to get pace and move smoothly from corner to corner. Tyre management was key but they seemed ot hold up entire race. This race ws more fo a sprint rae if anything, hardly any strategy and the crash on lap 1 didnt help anyone.

I passed the 6th place white Supra I was chasing on lap 8 and kept my position till the end of the race. A strong 6th place and netted some decent points for Round 5 but overall the race was uneventful compared to the previous round.

PD should have ideally chosen Tokyo or even Circuit St.croix for this round instead it would have been more fun. Hopefully Suzuka as the Last round will be fun to plot around and gain some places and maybe a podiium??!!

That’s how you can describe any track.

The amount of real world street circuits and really tricky ones like Macau

You hit the hard stuff it’s bad…

First: Hello, finally decided to get a GTPlanet account so great to meet you all, I know very few know me.

Second: I only did slot 1 in today's Round 5 and I already don't like it mainly due to it's just another qualifying race. I was close to get into the 1:40s but my qualifying pace was my biggest weakness going into GTWS so while I did make up positions to 10th after starting the race in 14th I can only finish 11th with 213pts after getting the apex wrong on the final turn which launched me into the gravel trap.

Oh well hello and welcome to GTPlanet Mr. Blu. Bring the rest of the ERA compatriots along

All tracks work in both directions, they may not run as fast or feel as flowy some of the run offs or marshal posts/apex catch barriers aren’t great, you have to remember we are all driving the same track in front of us and you have to make it work.
Real world tracks usually work only in one direction. There is no way you can race Spa, suzuka or Laguna seca in reverse.
As for Gt original tracks, likes as dragon trail, deep forest, yamagiwa or even Tokyo work well in both directions but Sardegna A somehow fells off in reverse

I think Willow Springs is the only Real World track that you can go reverse, only Streets of Willow Springs and Horse Thief Mile

The problem is when these kids go out to the real workforce life and find out the real consequences of these kind of actions
Unfortunately they are not kids, bar 1. I just think it's a lousy thing to do. It does not matter if it's a game or real life, it's a bad reflection on those people involved. Anyway, as was pointed out to me so eloquently by @newmedia_dev , it doesn't affect me so my opinion stands for nothing really. As we were all told growing up 'cheaters never prosper' 😉👍

7pm Slot.
Another rubbish 18 min qualy. No need for this! Did what I did in Brazil and did a couple of stints separated by a small stay in the pits.
First lap was good for 5th but I never improved whilst others did and started 14th out of 15. At least I'll have a mission on my hands.

Straight away I pull alongside the BMW ahead and we both make it through the kink but they loose less momentum and stay ahead. An Austrian in the gold standard livery 911 (We'll call them Gold Porsche) was tapped into the barrier but all made it through. I obviously got their position whilst they recovered. It all seemed fairly clean ahead. I ran a little deep in the right hand kink but didn't loose a place. A French Porsche who tapped Gold Porsche then tapped a South African Porsche (Still a serious infestation of these German cars!) at the T7 right hander. This bunched up the cars ahead. In the downhill kink a Lancer and the South African were turning into each other. The South African took umbridge to this and full on drove into them. They bounced and the middle opened for me. It was dangerous but my only option. The Porsche came off the grass and tapped my back quarter. I tank slapped into facing the right way into the chicane. (Could have been worse than just loosing momentum.) The Porsche rammed the Lander on the apex sending it across my bow (but missed) and into the barrier. They were then tapped onto the grass and I was able to clear the chasing pack. Lap 2 and the Finnish Porsche in 2nd was dived into T2 and due to some lag in the lobby was sent around on the grass. I passed them as they were ghosted. They were still quite close to me though. The next group ahead were all in a close battle so I was gaining. I was on the back of the train by the end of the lap. First time through the kink with full fuel and slipstream meant I misjudged it and understeered smack bang into the barrier. I was spat out but facing the right way with my Jag engine producing the output of a Ford KA. A couple of others ahead had done similar. I was the only one to get engine damage though so lost out the most. Now I have a Red livery Porsche and Gold Porsche behind me. Red Porsche gets past with my engine issues but I feel I can get them back. Gold is a little bit back. I run deep into T1 and Gold catches a little. Out of T7 we are line astern. They decide to dive me into the chicane and shove me aside. Not happy for 2 reasons. 1 it is a poor move and 2 there were yellows out and the one time the game decides not to give a penalty it is now. If only they knew about the kharma streak I am having on those who wrong me in the game...
The French Porsche is the one off and spinning by the penalty line. A place gained at least. I close on Gold on the straight but decide to hold back towards the kink. At the end of the lap the Red Porsche wobbles into the last corner and Gold dives up the inside as is customary for them. However it is a late move which allows me to switcheroo them both.
5bd48e48641b7d460cc9568fa6be8f30_photo.webp

Even in the slip I still pull a little from them. However this is where the kharmatic moment comes. Going into the kink there is a crash and Gold slips from view. Red had given them a little tap in the lifting zone and Gold met Barry R.
Lap 6 and I am into the top 10. I start to gain on a Hungarian AMG after they went through the gravel out of the chicane. But I can't quite find the speed without them making a mistake. It's then a GT-R's turn to be the carrot ahead but the same situation plays out. I can get close but that's where it ends. On the final lap I seem to be really slow out of the chicane and towards the last corner. I then see that my brake pedal had stuck on a little. Thankfully I realise and a short stab at the brakes sorts it. I finish P10 for meagre points. Without the lap 3 barrier hit I probably would have had a good result, though who knows what would have happened in the battling. I like Sard A but forwards is better in this case. Let's see what my best track in Suzuka brings.
I lost a bit of DR as expected but strangely also 29 SR points. The only real thing of note was the barrier hit and over 12 laps that shouldn't have hit DR so hard. Really strange that.

EMEA - GT3 - 19:00 - FORD GT '18

Title: Self control brings you to good results.

Sardegna reverse is an unknown circuit, there are curves where I can be killed, short race with no strategies.
With all that in mind I haven't big expectations, just focused on bring home the car as it will go.

I used the 18 minutes of qualify to still learn the track and checking every time how to not destroy my race on some wall.
For this reason I decided to go with TC3 to avoid any unpleasant spin.
At the end I qualified at 8P with 1:43:7 (not so far from my best).

Rolling start... speed increasing... T1 passed and I have 7 cars in front of me, I slightly see the 100meter marker... I decide to brake a little in advance and staying on left side terrified of who will arrive from the back... (self control mode on)
I check in the mirror and I see two rockets not braking at all...
Is this a smart strategy to gain some positions? What are these "drivers" thinking in that moment? Which age are these?
It was a carnage... and in the only space available I put my car and I am in P6.
In the S curves before the final straight I overtake, P5.

Lap 2 a car crash on the wall at T1, P4.
Lap 3 a car crash on the wall at T1, P3.

A series of clean laps but at a certain point I decided to slightly kiss the wall at T1, the German Porsche behind me is arriving very strong, I protected the internal but let him to go... I want to bring the car at the end... why to fight?

The laps go on following the Porsche at the same gap and behind me some battle keep the drivers with a stable gap of 2.5 sec (good enough to drive focused).

Lap 10... the first two drivers collided at the hairpin... yellow flag... ghosted cars... I overtake both and I am P2.

The last 2 laps driven in trance, empty brain, just checking if one of the ghost cars can overtake me... but I managed to defend my position and the German Subaru was driving clean not trying desperate overtakes.

So, the most scaring race where I haven't any hope is now the best result of this season and bringing me at a small step from level B.

See you at Suzuka!

GT2, morning US slot, 81 points for the win, door 11

Again, lonely NSX on the grid. No preparations at all due to busy schedule last few days. Turned some laps in the 15 minutes leading to the lobby and then used the 18 minutes qualifying to practice some more ha, ha!
Turned 43.9 which was good enough for 11th on the grid.

Start was mayhem, gained few postions only because of cars sidelined after crashes. Then, during braking to the turn leading to back "straight" I lightly punted the car ahead (braked very early but they probaby even earlier), it went to the grass and I received 3 seconds penalty, leaving me almost dead last. Ok, race to forget.

But I'm not quitting, turning those laps, learning how to attack those backwards turns (only in the last part of the race I figured out the two final corners). But the mayhem on track continues, yellow flags waving and I'm passing those ghosted poor souls trying to return to the track.

Suddenly I find myself 9th and then I receive a hit from behind into turn 2. Got passed by a group of cars battling for postions, looking at them from about 2 seconds distance and feel the tragedy brewing. And yes, big crash at turn 2, wheels flying, passing the battlefield of ghosts. Now I'm 7th. What!?

Someone pulled to the pits. My punter is stalking me from behind again, but thanks to my final corners eureka I increase the gap.
One of the early crashers from the front rows is pulling me in, it's the lonely BRZ (those cars must be not easy to drive now). The guy has superior pace, so when he moves out of my slipstream before the corner I brake early to let him go.

I'm 8th and that's how it ends.
GTWS25-Manu5-result.jpg

57 points is my worst result in this cup. Really nothing to write home about. But at least I did manage to get some DR points.
And hopefully I get to improve on this one at Suzuka.

… Track is complete madness. …
I predict mayhem. …
Call me a sage.

If someone goes from here
1000012339.jpg

to here
1000012340.jpg

(that's me in P3 on the very left thinking I only need to leave enough space for P4 diving in)

then you know it is bad.

Granted this guy was the dirtiest driver I have ever encountered (checked replay and he punted people of left and right) but this combo just can't be driven cleanly other than by aliens with their alien race craft and alien reflexes.

On the above occasion it didn't help that the Beamer in 4th decided to use me as their launch pad and fully accelerated into me when getting out of this mess leaving me in the grass and ultimately P14.
1000012344.jpg

My highlight of the same race and of my 3 attempts here was the following however. The two on the outside thought it was a good idea to take turn 3 side by side. Green car and I said thanks and slipped right through after their inevitable contact.
1000012341.jpg

Finished this lap P11.

In my final race I got bumped down into an 81 pts lobby and qualified a comfortable 1st with a miracle lap but also noticable slower opponents than before.
1000012342.jpg

Just like the 2 races before I didn't quite survive the first lap and also made some (albeit not that many) mistakes to finish 3rd.
1000012343.jpg

At least there was some proper racing going on, especially with the ultimate winner.

All in all I am pleased with this round but agree with everyone that says that this combo doesn't work for proper racing. Small mistakes have massive consequences and (safe and fair) overtaking opportunities are rare.

I'm looking forward to Suzuka. Just not sure if or how many races I will be able to get in. Probably only 1 late at night.
