“Sorry, I can’t. I’m washing my hair”

That... is genuinely worse than my joke post last week, somehow.

I get why they need at least one high-downforce round, it's not a great look if someone qualified and then couldn't drive the X2019 at the live events. But half the championship is way too much. And then two rounds featuring the car from the other championship... No comment on that.

1 Round in a Road Car, 2 Rounds in Gr.3 but some restrict to 5 cars, 1 Round in the new Formula car and 2 Rounds with the X2019 Red Bull?!

And once again 2 Rounds with 18 minute qualifying, those races with long qualifying sessions would sure make races boring.

Bit of a weird schedule for Nations IMO. I'm scratching my head at this "cycle" thing they seem to have dropped into. Manufacturers has been mixed weather race > long qualifying + sprint race > two compounds race > repeat. Nations looks to be doing something similar with "random car" long qualifying + sprint race > X2019 with all tyres mandatory > selected Group 3 > repeat.

I find the X2019 is one of the cars I tend to perform relatively well in, so not going to complain about it coming up twice. That said, for a 6 round season that feels really excessive.

Longer races has me smiling though, other than Autopolis. Never particularly liked that track, and I find it especially difficult in VR. Turn 1 and the hairpin at the end of sector 2 are practically blind. Driving it feels more like a chore than anything.

I hope this long qualifying into sprint race thing is something they drop. Long qualifying into endurance race? Sure, bring it on. But this? It just feels silly.

…If, as assumed above, it's door numbers then - and this can be complicated - it's the rank of your raw DR score among players in that lobby when reverse alphabetically sorted. That gets confusing below low DR B (and now can also be confusing in some A+ lobbies) because a reverse alphabetical sort would rank the score of 9 higher than the score of 8,999 (and the score of 111,111 below the score of 99,999).
Great fun fact! Treating ordinal numbers as strings and then sorting on them is the most PD thing ever. Another nail in the coffin of my theory that PD is just a terrible software development company.

If they had to start from scratch today they would completely fail. Stuck in the 90s forever.

I'll join in with another 'ugh' on the race selection.

And it looks like the time slots are even worse than the Manufacturers for those of us GT1 drivers on the east coast of the Americas: 9PM, 11PM, and 1AM EDT. I was already getting dozy and error-prone in the 8PM slots in Manufacturers. An hour later in the X2019s seems like a recipe for disaster.

6 races. 2 X2019 and 2 Gr.3 races. Off the back of 5 day bans for the race rigging scandal tells me PD truly don't give a crap about the championships anymore. All they want is a few people (doesn't matter who) to take to their world tour events to put on a bit of a show.

I'm not as butt hurt as that might sound but it is a crying shame as the foundations of something great have always been there.

And another thing to note from this cycle that the 5th round is a Fictional track going in reverse while the rest are real world tracks.

The first race looks good and what Nations should be. But, I won't be able to do that one because it's on a Wednesday (thanks, Kaz); actually kinda bummed about that as that race looks like fun and is something new.

Of the remaining, two Gr3 races, two RB 2019 races, and a Formula car. The Formula car can stay, the other four gotta go and be replaced with something like what Round 1 is. THis is where cars like the Spec Miata and Radical should shine, but let's do Gr3 cars instead or the RB cars AGAIN.

Well, what a load of... I would say “tosh”, but that implies that it is something, while this just feels like a great deal of nothing.

My predictions – for car choice anyway – were:

X-things (not so much a prediction as a statement of the patently obvious)

Tuned Road car group (not sure of which group though)

Group 2 open choice

Group 4 open choice

F-3500A

Historic F1 car (60s Honda or 50s Mercedes)

Well, I got 2 right, and they were the 2 I least wanted to see as fast twitchy cars are not my strong point.

2 races in the X-things? I know that PD love them but that’s too far, at least make one a sprint and the other an endure or something.

The F3500-A – fair enough, it’s a new car and one which lots of people enjoy driving, with a strong user-created livery set.

Group 3 “limited choice” twice - just why? We’ve got 3 other groups to choose from - why use the one we’ve just spent 6 rounds racing? OK, the obvious response is “but they’d be full of meta cars” but so will these Gr3 races.

Lambo one-make – OK, that actually sounds alright.

So that’s 2 (or 3 if you consider that a NC without the X-things is an impossibility) that are OK. As for the others, if I were PD’s headmaster I would simply say “could do much better...”

In summary – GTWS NC 2025? Meh.

I think I'll also skip the Nations Cup. The X2019 and F3500 are not very fun to drive with a controller. Too twitchy. I can't imagine those races will be very clean either. Might as well save myself the trouble.

Just tried the Lambo at Road Atlanta and those braking distances are crazy! Why have I got the feeling there will be plentiful death on this one? 😅

For anyone who hasn't tried it yet, you have to start braking roughly here on the back straight to slow down enough for the chicane...

The F3500 is better than the X2019 any of the Super Formula cars would be better, I know I am not very good, only in rank C and everyone is in the same car and on the same track , but the Formula cars imo are easier to drive, the X2019 is just too fast for these circuits, I play with a controller using VR, maybe the X2019 is better with a wheel and pedal set-up, idk maybe the X2019 would be okay for the top rank players.

I think LeMans would be the only circuit I would want to use the X2019 at, I did the one at the Nring a few months ago (the Nations Cup Challenge race thing) and I won after many attempts and I was exhausted after, the pov video below (I hope this is okay to post here).
