I did the 2nd to last morning slot in EMEA. Missed the last slot by literal seconds. This is just dumb. While A+ and probably most A lobbies can make the whole race in under an hour this doesn't happen in B lobbies and below. Well and GT1 only has races every 2 hours anyways.
If there is anyone here who has Polyphony's ear (
@Tidgney and Mik Hizal I believe but could be wrong) then it would be awesome if they could time races for 59 minutes max even for the slower crowd.
I would have really loved another shot (not sure if I can make one tonight) because I actually really enjoyed the race but also royally screwed up.
GT2 all B/S lobby for 106 points.
Qualifying went ok, getting close to my practice PB but knowing that there was at least half a second out there for me. Ultimately P4. Not too bad.
Decided to do the 13M/2H/7S strategy. But the race didn't really go my way at all.
I sent someone to the shadow realm by the slightest of taps (only realized in the replay). Redeemed myself a tiny bit by letting them through when they caught up later in the race (already suspected that it might have been my fault). Still bad. Sorry Johny B.
I lost it going on the grass through the second part of Pouhon overtaking someone who went wide in the first part, taking them out then waiting for them which took 20 seconds. Incidentally it was their last lap on softs and they went in the pits afterwards. Still waiting was correct.
* Then the blunder of blunders:
I accidentally clicked X for no tire change after my medium stint was over. Still refueled for 70 liters to finish the remaining 9 laps. Went in again for hards next lap. Then again for softs the lap after. 3 pit stops in a row. Nice. Another roughly 30 seconds lost here.
* I came out behind a driver who was freaking me out. His change of direction was super snappy (fits his screen name). I guess that he's using the directional buttons and steers by slightly tapping them. Super annoying to be behind. Unfortunately they also didn't know racing etiquette and blocked me repeatedly when I could have taken them down Kemmel straight. These two factors were highly irritating and I could never get by them.
Then Pouhon again. They slightly messed up the entry and I was closing quickly. My emotions got the best of me and I went for a gap that wasn't there again going on the grass and taking both of us out. Waited for them for another loss of about 10 seconds.
After this incident the original pole setter who must have had a terrible race (saw them spin in lap 1) caught up with me. Unfortunately Ich Elaiy (name and shame) was very dirty and intentionally pit maneuvered me down the back straight. Another 5 seconds because I could fortunately catch it somewhat quickly.
Of course it is quite unlikely for me to finish a race like this without incident but leaving almost a minute on the table by my own mistakes is tough.
I ultimately finished P13. The winner had an incident as well which is why I guess that I don't have the pace for a win but at least I could be in contention.
Bonus pit stop information:
Refuelling 70 liters without tires takes about 48 seconds.
Taking tires only takes about 30 seconds.
Refuelling at all adds about 2-3 seconds, therefore avoid refuelling twice.
