Well on another note, I finally got my first GTWS win!

Qualifying was close, with a Porsche not even a tenth in front of me. The Porsche, me and a couple others getting into the 1:44's in qualifying, which means a 2nd on the grid for the Viper.

Race began with an outside pass attempt from a jump at the start of the race, and the battle lasted till lap 3 when the Porsche went wide. Then the fight was myself, an Alfa 4C, a Supra and later on near the end the same Porsche. The Supra & I battled for a bit before he lit up the rears and almost spun, with me going around the outside to pass him again. The Alfa stayed with me the whole time though, with it being close on the banking as well as the pits. All the cars beat me in the bus stop (cause I didn't want a penalty), and on the last lap the Alfa popped out too early to get the slip. Near the finish he came back and was JUST alongside but the top end kept me in the game! First win and first podium finish these Exhibition season.

Yep, the ONLY reason for there to be only 3 slot in the GT1 league is because they want to bunch all the GTWS players together in the same races to increase the points available instead of having them spread out over the 10 or 12 slots we used to have. Another design choice that is made for the 0.01% of players at the detriment and enjoyment of everyone else.

Like you have said, maybe we need another division for these drivers so that the rest of us can actually join in and have a go. With the recent increase in DR cap its the perfect opportunity to do so. Those in the new higher range 100000-150000 can be in the A++ division.
Yep. Below is my suggestion many moons ago.

GT3 - DR C and below
GT2 - DR A & B
GT1 - A+ to 75%A+
GTX - 76%A+ to S

It's even more applicable now that they've increased A+ from 100k DR to 150k DR. It takes 50k DR to go from E to A+. A+ alone is 100k DR just by itself. A+ range is more DR than E thru max A.

So yea, PD need to pick a number (125k+?) whatever that may be, and call it something else. Those folks get the three slots with the super high points. They're going to be the ones fighting to qualify for the event; the rest of us not even close. We just want to participate in between life events.

Yes that structure would work great.

Anyone who is not in the top 100,000+ range of A+ have no chance of qualifying in the WS, nor more that likely don't want to, so why lump such a large range of players into the same pile.

The difference in pace between the top and bottom of A+ is probably larger than that of D to B. And then the difference between A to A+ is probably the same again yet we are all competing to the same regulations.

And 37th in Dodge.

P.S. I love how you can only enter with the sponsored car now.

No movement on Wednesday time slots though so whatever.
Well that answers the question I imagine a lot of people have. Probably just going to skip this then. Rushing around for the last slot on a Wednesday only to just get stomped isn't fun.

I cannot understand why they're suddenly sticking with a schedule that's so inaccessible to a huge proportion of their EMEA playerbase when it was completely fine before. (I don't know what it's like for the other regions.)

Noticed something during practice: at some point, the wall-hit penalties (which are on for Round 1 at least) seem to have gone from a flat 1.5 seconds to more flexible like the track-limits penalties.

Yes, yes YES! This is very needed solution. Separate league for people that fighting for live events. Let them fight in those 3 slots, and let other people just race.
I really like World Series format with quali->race and only one day events, but (fortunately/unfortunately... idk...) I'm mid A ranked so I have only 3 slots to give a shot... But those Wednesdays are brutal, one slot is usually the most I can take...

Wow! Wasn't expecting another exhibition season before the qualifying one. It's nice to see that PD is keeping the calendar full.

Kind of a weird mix. I'm never a fan of the tuned cars since there isn't any way to practice with them outside of Free Practice. The kart race is going to be complete chaos -- looking forward to that. And the SF race at Suzuka looks decent, considering it could have been the X2019 or F3500-A cars.
Damage is back to 'Light'
And no fuel or tire multipliers for the first and third rounds. That's different. I don't remember that ever happening before. Usually we get multipliers of 1x for the sprint races. Is that something new?

The problem with heavy damage is that it's only in GT1 League in GTWS. It needs to be across the board in all ranked online races; it's not much of a deterrent to contact when people can easily forget it exists.
In the races I had, there's rarely been an incident where someone got damage who deserved it. It was always others, or stuff like the ping pong physics so others got damage.
E. g. due to which I've received rear damage in lap 2 at Daytona so that was my race already over, as the hit in top speed was enough so I couldn't keep up anymore on the straights.

How it's implemented definitely needs adjusting, but that's not by itself a case for dispensing with it altogether.

It needs to be across the board and better.

Agree, when I wrote "too many races ruined" I was thinking of exactly these type of incidents. At Daytona I was damaged by the same driver twice and they were fine.

If they can improve the damage system then I'd be in favour of having it, it adds realism and tension (especially at tracks like the Nords).

I made up a few places at Daytona I probably wouldn't have otherwise if damage wasn't on. It's easier to avoid the carnage when you qualify towards the back like I did that race but I don't think "just drive slowly" works as advice for avoiding it.

There isn't any fuel or tyres whenever there are kart races. The tuned cars usually have them when it's SSRX but I suppose they would vary too much between cars at an actual circuit.

On the west coast of the United States, the Wednesday time slots for GT1 are 2:00pm, 4:00 and 6:00. For the majority of working adults…even that 6pm time slot will be a stretch to get. If you live in Hawaii and race (which is probably very, very few)…it’s even earlier. For me personally, it’s whatever. I’m only able to race if I’m off that day - and I’ll be able to get my ass kicked in as many slots as my heart desires!! But it’s a bummer for everyone else. Me thinks that the majority of the GT1 playerbase in the United States are in the Midwest or east coast..and that’s the reason PD has chosen those time slots (mind you that there’s like a 3 hour break between the last EMEA GT1 slot, and the first Americas GT1 slot)

…oh yeah. We do daylight savings here for the most part still 🙄, so the time slots will be changing again here soon

As far as damage going back to light, I have mixed feelings. My races have been screwed more often than not from getting bowling-pinned on the first lap, or getting rear damage from a late braker or dirty driver (with the perpetrator getting NO front end damage mind you)… but at least Heavy Damage seems to keep the chaos at bay for the most part. Plus, I like the realism of heavy damage. I’ll be curious to see how this plays out

Ouff a shifter kart race. That'll be a steep learning curve for me. Are they still as twitchy as before the recent physics update?
Yes, twitchy af and now with bonus tyre scrub BZZZZZ (on a DD Pro). Hopefully PD will tone down the death rattle in the next update…

I tried karts round this track when it was released and it was fun but the FFB was lighter, which made the twitchy handling even more lethal 💀

So death rattle BZZZZZ good because giving feedback but death rattle BZZZZZ bad because wheel destroying?
