I really hope they adjust the Wednesday time slots for the actual season in EMEA, otherwise I definitely won't participate
I was hoping they were going to split the Leagues and create an "eSports League" so that GT1 could have more time slots.

As they've generally not changed anything for the better so far I have minimal hope they're going to address the time slots.

I just have to accept that I'm not in the demographic that PD want involved in Championships anymore....

Don't forget that CET (you're in Germany right?) changes +1 hour on the Sunday before the official season starts, if normal practice is followed and PD don't adjust for this then the times will appear to be 1 hour later, so the first slot in Germany will be at 1000 and the last at 2000 (currently 0900/1900, I think?). Similarly in the UK the times will go from the current 0800/1800 to 0900/1900 which will make life a bit easier for evening racers, but will unfortunately foil my wizard wheeze of doing slot 1 then going to work 😄

I'm not sure but I think they took that into consideration in the past and adjusted the times accordingly, so the actual times stay the same even with Daylight saving time (meaning that they moved the UTC time +1 as well)

So, how did I get on in slot 1 this time?

Well, for a start I decided to try an MR car out for once and plumped for Ferrari instead of my usual Nissan. Got a very good result at Fuji, finishing P2 (and the eventual winner pit-manoeuvred someone who challenged them halfway through the race so I was glad I couldn't keep up with them) and didn't do Tokyo because I'm not familiar enough with the layout and didn't have the preparation time.

I'd done OK in lobby races but not up the sharp end, qualifying with mid 47s and plodding my way to good finishes by starting on the hards which always suits me better.

First timed lap in Qualifying was a 47.7 which was mid-grid, then I put my head down, concentrated on smoothness and pulled a 46.8 out which was 3/10 faster than anything I'd done before and put me in - er - pole. Oops.

What do I do now? Logic suggests start on RM but I'd done most of my practise starting on RH and I knew if I tried racing off on RMs and a full tank I'd burn the tyres in 5 or 6 laps, even less if I started battling.

Right. RHs and defend a bit if you have to but don't block or waste time battling. Let them all cook their RMs and take advantage later.

Away we go, and everyone is respectful at the start and I retain the lead after half a lap... now a full lap... now two laps... at this point the RMs are up to temp and at their best, and the Audi in P2 closes up. For the next 4 laps I defend a bit, but I don't have to do any more than that as I'm quicker in a couple of places so I always have a couple of tenths when I need them. Let them burn up their RMs, if they're on them... At the end of lap 6 P2 pits and was indeed using the medium tyre, I hot-lap for the next 3 tours hoping that my worn RHs don't give too much away to their fresh ones, but as I emerge with lovely new RMs at the start of lap 10 I have 5 seconds lead, perhaps they messed up pit entry or something, it's very easy to do that here (Top Tip: if you haven't already done so PRACTICE PIT ENTRY because it'll catch you out otherwise). I'm on new RMs, they're on worn RHs so all i need to do is pass the last pitter as they make their stop (10 laps on RM in GT2, wow!) , try for fastest lap (do a 47.1 which stands until someone does a 46.9 on the last lap, damn), then manage my pace to not cook my own tyres, eventually winning by over 10 seconds - by time margin my biggest ever win at this level!

Pole / Win / Clean race. Got to be happy with that (no FL though, rass'n frass'n...)

Good luck to everyone racing today!

Drat. I was certain that my (UK) slot 1 times were 8am in winter and 9am in summer. (Saturdays in days of old, with Wednesdays being 10am in winter, 11am in summer).

Just checking back through recent schedules, Manu Exhibition 2 last October did show the GT2/GT3 slots running from 9am BST to 7pm BST, so maybe there's hope.

Had another go, was a miserable race, I was as bad as the others and it was the kind of race that you just had to get the elbows out. Started P2 and P1 brake checked us at the first bloody turn, why 🤬🤬🤬 I had to take to the grass to avoid contact and ended up in P14, that set the tone for the rest of the race. Luckily the GTR is good on the hard tyre so I managed to salvage P3.

Edit:
Much better race this time, I started P2 again, P1 was in a different league altogether with a QT 1.5 seconds faster than mine 🙈. Anyway, I again got rear ended at turn 1....what is wrong with people?? It's lap 1 FFS!. I survived just about and rejoined in 6th place. Made up the lost spots before the end of lap 5 and pitted for hards at the end of lap 7. P1 was gone on his merry way and nothing was going to catch him so I just concentrated on finishing and staying clean. Job done, time to head to bed. The only good thing about working nights is that I get a chance to do these Wednesday slots!!

Yup - one of the reasons why races without fuel usage or time trials are so much faster is that the cars there are as light as if they have no fuel inside
This is also true for the Free Practice mode for the GTWS races and during qualifying, btw. I find the effect quite noticeable when I switch between Free Practice and Custom Races where I have fuel consumption and tire wear enabled.

Also, btw, good luck to everybody racing today!

Pretty meh qualy, started 13th, did 10H/6M and finished up 6th. I overtook exactly nobody, on the track at least. Pure attrition.

One of the leaders managed to emerge behind me on his lap six (M-H) stop, followed me for a lap, then went off the first turn all by himself, only to come back (hey, I qualified 1.8s off pole) a lap and a half later and tap my rear 3/4 exiting turn eight even though I was giving him room to the left so he could make an attempt up the hill into the hairpin. No real consequence, but a bit unnecessary.

As was the Polish Lexus driver, who drew everyone's ire. Again, I was letting him through (he'd had a coming together, and I'd got past as he recovered but on M vs H there was no point really defending) but he just ran me off the exit at 16.

Forgot to check how many points but sixth in a high-B lobby should be 100 or so.

Pretty tiring race actually. Autopolis is all a bit... everything all the time.

Well I did my bit for the sponsors today, driving on the bumper of a YouTuber for multiple laps, expecting a big cheque in the post for this sort of exposure...

Of course I started on mediums and Digit was on hards. But I wasn't pushing and sat in his slipstream so my tyres lasted 10 laps! Was being so careful to brake early and not punt him it was making my foot shake! Bloody YT'ers... when he went for tyres at the end of 9 I did a lap of honour in the race lead.

:gtpflag:

Didn't mean to start on the mediums, forgot about the tyre change after qualifying P8, but pretty sure it worked in my favour as I could go with the front group while there was door banging behind. Was very clean and sportsmanlike at the front, further back there was one terrible driver (who finished P12). I might have to use this tactic again in future...

I even messed up my pit entry which cost me a few seconds, but exited in P7 in a nice gap in front and behind, so just brought it home for some solid points.

As I have nothing to lose using the Viper 🙁 how many laps are the RM's good for, as I was going to use RH first, I am only in Rank D and only have one chance at this race in this upcoming 6pm race, it also doesn't rain I assume?

Sponsors?

Is there a GT Planet livery sticker in the game people can use and put on their car?

Pretty sure there will be if you search for GT Planet in the showcase! But they don't pay very well as a sponsor, in fact you may need to pay them... 😉

As @newmedia_dev and practice predicted, the Alfa was awesome in the twistys and a bit held back in the straights.
I purposely qualified on hards and had no issues taking whatever place that left me in, which was last for the start. I knew in my lobby that the first two laps for survival mattered, and drove accordingly. From then on I was confident that even with the RH the Alfa(and myself, I guess?), could keep up with the pack and capitalize on others mistakes. Eight laps with the hards- with enough tread to go alot more, then the switch and a lap to warm the RS, pass, defend, pass pass pass again, two laps left having a blast!, last to 5th!, clean race bonus cuz it feels good. And, I should mention- pretty respectful driving from others.

I know the feeling! Granted, when I was tailing him it wasn't a GTWS race but it was a wet Nord. "Just don't hit him, just don't hit him, just don't hit him..." for what felt like forever.

I was watching his stream (well, kinda in the background) and generally speaking the chat was impressed on how long you made the tires last. GGs.

People don't think that's how DR works but it do.

Are most of you guys anticipating a 8RH - > 8RM strategy?

I've seen the reverse done but the fuel load didn't seem to offset much for tyre wear once on the hards.

I'm currently watching Digit doing Autopolis. Seeing talk in chat that the Nurburgring round has random rain patterns in free practice.

On one hand, YAAAAAAAAY! On the other, OH GOD NO I'M IN THE CORVETTE. 😅

Thoughts and prayers. Wet and the Vette, a terrible combination.
