I thought it would be some lame race when I saw the title on the Speed Channel..

But I felt like turning to the chanell anyway just to see what it looked like.

Being a fan of Gran Turismo I saw a race that seemed the most similar to Gran Turismo I've ever seen, all of a sudden I see the field of cars of M3's, Porsche 996's, 330's, Z4', Mustangs, 350z's, and all other types of some every day driver/sports cars...

I want to see more of this stuff, and I wonder if it ever airs live, has anyone else watched this series?

(It might have been the Grand-Am Champ Series, I wasn't too sure)

As I've kept hearing, Grand-Am Cup used to be the Motorola Cup before Grand-Am bought it. But you're right. In many ways, this is like Gran Turismo. These are mostly low-powered machines tuned to be pure performers. Anything from a Ford Mustang to an Acura RSX is perfectly fine to race in this series. So yeah, it's a good deal. I wish the ALMS had its own street car or lightly-modified racing leauge. But it has its own feeder series, the Star Mazda series.

So yeah, it's a great deal, Chris Criswell. I guess you can log on to {http://www.speedtv.com} and look for Grand-Am race information.

Yeah, I still have only seen it once, I dunno when else it comes on, maybe if they race close enough to me I can go watch a race myself. I'll check out the website and see if I can find more stuffs..

It's really fun to watch, and also sad. when you see two porsches and an M3 crash. All that money :(

I just now saw another race and wondered why Kazunori didn't put in GT4 of what I witnessed.

There were 68 cars on Laguna Seca.

The cars I remember where BMW: M3, 330i, 330ci, Z4
Porsche: 993-997 or whatever they are, I saw Some Acura RSX's, Chevy Cobalts, Mustang GT's/Cobra's, It was great though seeing all those cars on the track at once. And we're stuck with a measly 6 :P

Sounds like the Australian Performance Car Championship, with HSV Clubsport's, FPV GT's, BMW M3's, mazda RX-7's, Mitsubishi Evo VIII's and Subaru WRX STI's, great racing between teh HSV's, Evo's and STI's

I've seen the Grand Am series in person as the 24 Hours of Daytona and at Virginia International Raceway.

The Grand Am Cup guys are very fun, much more amateurish then the GT class in Grand Am Rolex Series.

The cars are split up into Grand Sport (GS) and Street (ST) classes, with the GS's being larger 6 and 8 cylinder cars, and ST's being smaller 4-cylinder cars.

They are basically the equivilant of running the Speed GT and Speed Touring series together at the same time.

GS Class cars include:
Ford Mustang GT (05)
Ford Mustang Cobra
Porsche 911 GT3 (996)
Porsche 911 Carrera S (997)
BMW M3
Cadillac CTS-V
Nissan 350Z
Pontiac Firebird
Saleen Mustang

ST Class cars include:
BMW 330i
Mini Cooper S
Mazda RX-8
Chevrolet Cobalt
BMW Z3
BMW Z4
Acura RSX Type-S
