It will probably get 50 state ok if/when they change it from the CRD to a BlueTech deisel in maybe '08 or '09...though you will be hard pressed to find that officially

...Still, the fact that it managed to pass the new regulations for 2007 makes it a pretty clean diesel, so that in itself is pretty impressive. Volkswagen may not have a new diesel ready untill 2008 at the earliest to meet US standards, so it is looking like your only options for Diesel in the US are in full-size trucks from GM, Dodge, and Ford, the Jeep Cherokee and Liberty, and the Mercedes E-class.

MB already makes the cleanest deisel engine as it is and it is approved in 45 states. The Bluetech technology will allow it to pass all 50 states but it will not come here until at least the '08 model year because we (the U.S.) need to reduce the sulfur content of our deisel fuel for it to work....

It is already available in Europe....they already have the cleaner fuel.....

...Yes, and the dumbasses at the Transportation Department decided to push forward these stupid laws so we cannot get the kick-ass Diesel models from Europe...

Did I mention the fact that sales of Diesel models increased by 80% in 2005?
