Granturismo 6 Driver Names

In Granturismo 5 your drivers name would be resembled by your Playstation Network Name, e.g (Smally58) however in this screenshot we can see clearly highlighted in the red the drivers name J.Smith. Although this is a small change it is a change which I find particularly pleasing especially a game which is based on realism and personally I would much rather have my actual name the my PSN id. I am not sure if this is for sure however as maybe the pre-version of the game does not have this feature in yet? I am not sure so if anyone can confirm this for me I would be very appreciative.

That's just for promotional purposes. J (for John) Smith two extremely common names, and in the format of B-Spec drivers names from GT5. Don't read too much into it basically.

B-Spec Bob is the only driver name you need to know.

They might have taken that screen from a profile without a PSN account.

This means nothing. In GT5 when you play offline, the game takes your PSN profile name. For example, for me it's just my first name. This is only a promotional screenshot with all generated names. I'm sure it will play out the same way GT5 did.

It was said some months ago that we can input our own name for Career in GT6. It was ridiculous having to look at our PSN name in GT5.

Are you sure ? In the demo you had to input your name. Maybe for the qualifications for GT Academy, idk. But anyway. You get the idea here. Would look better with your name instead of PSN name.

EDIT: Would look better when playing career mode, that is. Online you obviously want your PSN nick to show.

Ding ding ding, we have a winner. This is excatly what will be brought over to the full game basically. And for Online with other human players, it's your PSN name.

I did like this in GT academy. It's such a small but very personal detail.

I don't care if online is psn id, but I would prefer my offline exp be more like a personal career than just a series of events... As this opens up ways for the product to address the player directly...

I see there are also nationality flags next to the name now. Looks like it could possibly be a Codemasters style pick a name and a flag approach?

If it's an option it's Ok for me.

I've been using my nickname in every game I remember playing and I wouldn't like to be forced to change it for my personal name. Usually I keep my personal info out of the internet / online gaming. Not that I would give up playing GT6 online, but I would preffer to do it using my nickname (PSN id).

I think your real name would be used specifically in offline races. When you go online, I'm willing to bet that the game will use your PSN ID.

Sure, but remember your psn nick will stand very out from the AIs "real names". That's why it's better with your name.

In the GTA Demo, when we first did that test run in the regular 370Z, didn't we get to input our names?

I put my profile name just like it is in GT5 with the AI's names. So I get my name on the grid when I play offline.
