Do any r/c fans know what the name of the grease is that rsmithdrift is talking about?

Wow. I just used some r/c car gear grease. Tightened things up quite a bit and quieted that loud whining noise alot.

You know the kind of grease I'm talking about, it's thick and black and comes in a tube, it's special made for driveline gears on R/C cars. The EXACT same kind of gears that are in the DFP.

Regular ball bearing vaseline will do just fine. Water vaseline might be a bit stickier for long term but im not sure.

As long as it's thick enough to eliminate any "float" in the mesh of the gears its fine. The gears certainly don't generate enough heat to warrant a particular type of grease. Just as long as it wants to adhere and hold form, I'm sure it will be fine.
