Hi guys. While playing through GTA IV's storyline, I encountered a possible Great Gatsby easter egg near Hove Beach. This place is used in a mission, but I do not remember the name and I do not have a picture of the map. The reason why I immediately thought of The Great Gatsby was because the large, gold-rimmed glasses and the bright blue eyes are reminiscent of Dr. T.J. Eckleburg's billboard in the Valley Of Ashes. I now made the connection that The Great Gatsby and GTA IV are both set in fictionalized versions of New York City, albeit in different time periods.

I will try to get a picture of the map tomorrow. :)

This is actually really interesting and first time I've seen someone point out an easter egg in GTA IV

No thank you my friend. I love the great gatsby btw. Never read the books but I love the movie

The movie is much different from the book. It's definitely worth reading sometime. 👍

It's definitely possible. However, GTA IV's development took place between 2006 & 2008, so I'm not sure it's a cue to the story unless one of the previous films showed it. I haven't read the book in several years, so I don't remember if it described in detail the sign, either.

Depends which version of the movie you watch

The Baz Luhrman one (The most recent with Leo DiCaprio).

The book does describe the eyes in detail. I don't have the book with me to quote it, but since they are a symbol in the story, they did have a bit of a description.
