Hi fellas,

Luis from Costa Rica here. Nice to meet you all! Last GT game I played was back in 1999-2000.. Gran Turismo 2 to be precise. For reasons unknown I missed 3 and 4, and I decided to wait for the XL edition to dip my toes back into GT.. loving it so far!

Any tips for this prodigal son? Like I said, last game in the series I played to near completion was GT2. Has anything changed drastically from the old days? Looking forward to your comments!

Cheers!

Welcome to :gtpflag:

As for tips on GT5, take your time and enjoy the game.
Don't rush it, and don't use way overpowered cars against the AI. You'll be bored quickly.
Also, the licenses and special events are great ways to learn the game, and also rack up some xp and credits early on.
I also suggest to stay away from the seasonal events, and rather take those later on.
The money and XP you gain from the seasonal events are ridiculous and ruins the experience from doing events.
Work your way through the various A- and B-spec events.
I'd suggest using as few aids as possible. I only use ABS set to 1-3 whenever I play.

Though all of these are my opinion, and feel free to do what you want. :)

Things have changed alot since GT2. Maybe the most missed feature is that not many cars in GT5 can be race modified. In fact there is only 17 of them.
Other than that of course graphics, content of cars and tracks and all the useless horns and race suits will make your head spin...
The selection of paints is huge!
Photomode is great!

You should also try figure out the rest yourself. ;)

Enjoy the planet!

Thanks, McSoap! All the cars included in the XL edition voucher do seem to ruin the experience quite a bit. I'll just work my way through the events the hard way :)

Thanks for the tips. Much appreciated mate!
