Grinding / Slipping feel to G25????

I just purchased a G25 and will be receiving my Playseat tomorrow. Excited for sure to say the least. However, after i hooked my G25 up and took a couple of spins around Daytona (GT5P) with the steering column on my lap, I noticed a grinding or slipping feeling in the wheel as i started into the turn (like the gears inside the active feedback were slipping and unable to lock into place). Then it seemed to catch and the wheel gave steady constant resistance through the turn. Does anyone know what this is? Is it because it's not securely mounted? Any other reason? Thanks

With GT5P turn off active steering (and any other steering assist)in option , I know one of them gives you resistance but if you turn the wheel with more force it lets the force go so you can spin it easier. It feels all wrong, turn it off.

Also not mounting it wont help at all.

If the suggestion given by Jay V still has't solved the problem, my suggestion would be to try and set your G25 wheel to setting 1 and the PS3 controller to 2- you can do it if you have only the wheel and the controller by pressing the PS button and change the controller setting to 2 or on the XMB go to Accessory, using the button on the G25, change the setting to 1.
I had the same problem despite turning off active steering and all the other driving aids. Only when I set the wheel to #1 did it solve the problem.
