Group B rally cars

Hi all,

Sorry if this has already been posted, but will we be seeing any Premium rally cars in GT5 in the future? Specifically, some group b monsters? I'm wondering why we have a pretty poor selection of some of the hairiest beasts ever to see light of day.

For example, why no;

Audi Sport Quattro S1,
Opel Manta 400,
MG Metro 6R4,
Lotus Sunbeam,
Lancia 037,
BMW M1,
Porsche 911 Rs SC
Porsche 959.

The ones we do have are so hopelessly outdated graphically, that it's almost an embarrassment to have them in my garage. It would be nice to see some rally cars given the premium treatment, other than the stock WRC ones. After all, group B cars were regulary churning out double (if not more) of the power of the WRC cars.

*Edit*

And why no Group A rally cars or Australian racing cars either? We are missing a shed load of good cars;

Sierra Cosworth 2 & 4wd
Lancia integrale 8v and 16v
Vauxhall Astra Gte
Nissan Pulsar GTi-r
BMW M3 E30

Holden Commodore group A SS
Ford Falcon XE

And why no older Rally cars? Some classics are missing;

Fiat 131 Abarth
Mk1 Escort
Mk2 Escort
Mini Cooper S

The Mini Cooper Rally Car from GT2 would be nice to see again.

Agreed, that was awesomely fast, something like 240bhp too though I always wondered if that was accurate.

I guess we have to make do with the RS200 and Delta S4 (I can't remember if the 205s and the Renault 5 are group B?) but then, this isn't a rally game :)

Yea the 5 & 205 are both Group B cars.

If we could get decent versions of what we have I'd be happy (and a Mk2 of course)

Well the Porsche rally racers are easy to explain: No Porsche license.

The other rally cars, not so easy to explain.

Lancia 037 Premium  Of course, the Rover Metro 6R4, Opel Manta 400, Audi quattro S1, Mazda RX7, Ferrari 288GTO and 308 GTS, and Citroen BX TC4 would be welcome additions. And theses aren't Group B, but they're from Pikes Peak and they're awesome:

Peugeot 405:

Ford Fiesta:

Suzuki XL7:

Along with the Cultus from GT2 and a course to drive them on;)

I want that Fiesta too! This is the one prepared for the Pikes Peak. 850 PS, based on a Rallly Cross version.

I wouldnt mind the new 2011 Fiesta WRC, either.

no mention of the Peugot 205 T16? That was a pretty dominant car in B Class. Is it in GT5?

I'd love to see another rally racing game like the old Rallisport Challenge 2 on XBOX :)

Yes GT5 isn't a rally game, but it would be so awesome to have those group b rivals back together (and pike peaks as track on top of that). I would trade every car in my garage just to get a Audi Quattro S1 and hear the ultimate 5 cylinder sound it made - ohh wait its PD, the sound would be crap...

Anyways, allways a good watch to see W. Röhrl climb up this hill:

That would be good, but I get to hear the real thing everytime I start my car :sly: Although granted, not quite as insane as the S1.

i agree with all of the above.
i have over 15 rally cars in my garage, even though i hardly use them.
they're just too awesome to look at.

What this thread proves is PD needs some clued-up European members who can help make the most of the licences PD has.

So much has been posted about Porsche being absent but look at the iconic cars PD could include but doesn't. As well as the Group B/A rally and touring cars they also omit so many LMP, Group C, IMSA GTP and GT cars, Audi R15, Lola Aston Martin, Jaguar XJR-11, Jaguar XJR-14, Mercedes C11, Toyota TS010, Eagle Toyota MkIII, Audi Sport Quattro S1, MG Metro 6R4, Peugeot 405 T16, Audi 80 IMSA GTO, Ford Sierra RS500 Cosworth, E30 BMW M3, Ford Escort RS Cosworth, MkII Ford Escort, Ferrari 430 GT, E92 BMW M3 GT, Aston Martin DBR9, Ferrari F40 LM, McLaren F1 GTR Short Tail etc.

Pretty sure the 205 T16 is in game, but I haven't got it yet.

I know GT5 isn't a rally game as such, but for a game described as 'the ultimate driving simulator', it seems to be pretty light on some of the ultimate driving machines! Never mind, perhaps in update 96.01 or GT19..........................

Yep, totally agree with that comment. I'm sure it's been said before, but countless versions of minor evolutions of the same car? Granted, most are low res standard cars, but (purely picked at random) EIGHTEEN versions of the Honda S2000??????????

EIGHTEEN versions of the Honda S2000??????????

18 S2000's
34 MX5/Miatas
17 NSX's
27 RX7's
20 3000GT/GTO's
20 Lancer Evos
35+ Skylines
17 Silvias
16 Imprezas
Not to mention cars that are in the game TWICE WITH TWO DIFFERENT NAMES!!!! THAT'S PATHETIC!!!!!! Don't get me wrong, I love Skylines, NSX's Evo's and STi's, but I dont need 3 different Tommi Makinen Lancers.

Yeah, case in point. 34 versions of the MX5 for gods sake? Don't get me wrong, a great little car in the real world. A work mate of mine has had several and I've been fortunate enough to drive one of them. A real old school rwd sports car but (unless someone else can say otherwise) I'm not aware of the MX5 having any motorsport history that would warrant the inclusion of THIRTY FOUR ****ING examples of the same car?!!? Give us three and then use the other 31 slots for something more worthwhile.

Licensing isn't generally a case of going to a manufacturer and acquiring the rights to use their entire history of models - models are frequently licensed individually, with manufacturers keen to push the inclusion of certain models and vetoing the use of others. I don't doubt that PD failed to ask for the right cars in some cases, but some/much/all of the blame may well lie with manufacturers. Why they wouldn't want their best or most iconic models to be represented, assuming they're happy for their brand to be included at all, is something I simply don't understand.

There wouldn't be another 31 slots, unless you seriously believe that each NA MX-5 was modelled individually. There would merely be 31 fewer cars - not that this would necessarily be a bad thing.

What makes Pikes Peak rally cars so awesome, is that they really one of the few diabolical machines that organized events allow to go crazy in the horsepower department.

And they look really evil too compared to the normal WRC car.
