What a fantastic formula that was, before Bernie got involved and put GP engines in the cars - those last couple of seasons were disgraceful, a Jag running around with a Ford V8 GP engine in it!
I remember seeing them run around at Sandown back around 88-89 (can't remember exactly) and seeing the Porsche 962s and the Jags running around - great cars, and Le Mans was an epic in those days.
Such great cars - the twin turbo V8 Mercs, the Jags, the Porsches, that insane WM Peugeot that did 400kmh at Le Mans - plus the IMSA series (the Audis and Nissans) in the US - great days!
