GS4 Motion Seat

I recently bought a GS4 Ultraforce motion seat and just wanted to share my thoughts on it after a few weeks of use. I know that not many people are aware that this product even exists.

The seat has 4 paddles that mimic sustained g forces and bumps that you feel in a car while driving. When I accelerate, paddles push against my back to mimic the sensation of being pulled into the back rest. When I turn left, paddles will press against my right side to mimic the lateral g I would feel as my body weight shift to the right. Even though the seat does not really shake me vigorously, the cues the seat produces fools the brain into thinking I am being thrown around. It is an amazing feeling. I know what the car is doing and can confidently push the car to its limits which has already contributed to faster lap times.

The Gs4 is perfect for me because it came basically fully assembled and easily placed on my existing rig. The cost is lower than all the motion solutions that I have researched. The Software was quite easy to set up, and the inventor,Pat Dotson, is always helpful.

I am very happy with the GS4 seat and recommend because it really made my sim rig come alive.

Below is a pic of my GS4 rig and the website:

I was looking at this a while back... I like the idea a lot...

I did a motion simulator thing at the kennedy space center kind of like this that used inflatable seat backs to mimic g forces... it worked pretty well!

What games have you used it with?

And how comfortable is it? It looks like you are sitting on hard metal surfaces with only a little vinyl between you and them?

I also wonder how long before the moving metal wears thorugh the seat covers....

There's also a ride on Epcot Center that uses this same technology and it does a real good job, you can definitely feel more than 1G(<==simulated) on that ride. Cranfield wich works closely with F1 teams and the aerospace industry on their simulators uses and is constantly developing this technology.

Looks alot like my kirkey seat.
This looks like an interesting product and at a nice price aswell.

Although the kirkey seats have minimal padding they are quite comfortable. I have spent several nonstop hours in mine, wether it be driving games or just general gameplay, without discomfort

The seat is a modified Kirkey seat. For me it is quite comfortable, but extra padding can be used because it has more than enough feedback strength. Actually, It gives me a back and butt massage as I drive lol.

I think Pat did mention that he got the idea from what Devedander and Jav touched on. However, I think the paddles respond quicker than inflation. At least that is what I have read.

Mayaman, I think this technology combined with your dbox will really be awesome. You can adjust the levels and turn on/off the forces you need. I am very curious to see how you will fuse both technology together.

Devedander, I have tried it with Iracing,GSC2012,Rfactor,and GTR2. Works great on all platforms so far. The seat cover is quite durable and has enough room underneath to allow the paddles to function. But, you are right, metal may eventually cause wear and tear. I think padding the edges of the paddles will do the trick.

Hasido thanks for sharing as info on this seat is scarce (if you're not an iracing member). I was wondering how it worked with GSC2012. Sounds like it works well.

Could you comment on the noise level of the chair in operation. I primarily use headphones and am curious how loud the servos are in action.

Nice rig, love the handbrake 👍.

Regards

Cheeba, I see you on the Iracing forums. I joined Iracing primarily to read the forum because there were no user reviews or opinions anywhere else. The only article I could find was the one from Autosimsports. I was sold on this after reading it but very positive user comments confirmed it for me.

My favorite sim at the moment is GSC. I am happy to say it has made GSC a better experience than it already is. You feel everything you would expect driving a car.

The servos in action make a noise similar to quickly turning a logitech g25 back and forth, but definitely can be drowned out by turning up the sound. I recommend headphones because I can not hear it at all.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks for reading my post.

Placed an order for one of these this morning (and a Fast Track Sims TC-R1 to put it in).

Hasido, how long did it take to get your seat?

NeoAgent,

Nice rig you gonna have there. It took mine about 6 to 7 weeks. IMHO, The quality and build of the product is worth the wait.

A really interesting solution. Looking forward to read some more impressions and maybe a long term test.

Nice combo NeoAgent 👍. Can't wait to see the GS4 mounted in the TC-R1. Mark's been trying to convince me to check out the R1. Anxious to hear your thoughts on it.

Ordering a GS4 in black, didn't know it was 6 or 7 weeks on eta though! Did you get the transducer option, and what cover you going with?

Congrats on the purchase. Have fun!!

Cheeba, yep I ordered the transducer option and went with black vinyl for the seat cover (vinyl vice cloth thinking the vinyl will hold up better).

Didn't know it was a 6 or 7 week eta, the email I received simply stated Pat would be working on it over the next couple of weeks.

The waiting is going to kill me but it'll be worth it.

Congrats on your purchase also. Once I receive my R1 I'll post pics. I'm excited about the R1 and think it's going to be perfect for my needs.

Not really. This is what happens when you dont have kids and work 70 hours a week and buy things to make yourself happy. Lol
