Hi everybody

I'm new to the forum and if my post is already answered please excuse me.

On my PS3, when I try to install the 2.15 update it shows an error message like "8002ae22 - couldn't install update", and after that my PS3 starts to display a message that the file system is corrupted and starts to restore. this operation takes 5 to 6 hours and when it finishes it starts all over again. Anyone has experienced this kind of behavior before? I'm becoming desperate, already paid 110 euros for a repair, witch I was told that Flashrom had been replaced, the outcome was the same, file system restore after the GT5 update 2.15.

What version are you upgrading from?
Do you have a GT5 game save in there already?
Are you logged in Online when you try to update?
Sounds like a hardware/file corruption problem to me - however, I'm sure the techs in here may have some answers; provide as much information as you can.

It's a GT5 Academy Edition with no saved games, first install and during the installation process i'm requested to update, and yes I'm logged to PSN with my account.

I assume you did that, but have you tried to decline the upgrade pop up (pressing circle)? If the game data is not installed yet, I recommend to do that before you download any updates. If you accept the update request while the game reads or writes on your HDD, it could be a cause of the file corruption for example. To prevent any kind of problems caused from the update, you can disable Internet connection temporarly in the Network Settings of your PS3, then start up the game and see if everything's fine.

I've had 3 file system corruptions/restores on my 320GB Slim since I got it Dec 2010 so I understand how annoying the process is...

I fully understand your advice, but now the system restore starts when I turn on the PS3 and when it reaches the end, about 4 hours later, it starts all over again. I cannot reinstall or do anything with the PS3.

Oh, then I misunderstood you. A blind guess, but there is a way of starting the PS3 in save mode, however I have no idea if that'd fix help the problem your PS3 has. Maybe someone else with more knowledge on such issues sees this thread.

I have had almost the same problem, I cant get past part 3 of the update because of a disconnection but it is still connected to PSN.
