I tried googling this, but i cant seem to find whether canadians will be able to participate in the upcoming gt academy.

All signs point to no. As of right now at least, nothing has been announced and they typically are excluded.

Will i be able to download it with a canadian psn? Even if i cant actually participate.

IIRC, 2012's was only available if you downloaded it from a US PSN account. Or, it never really showed up in the CAN PSN store, but was available if you searched for it.

2013's, on account of doubling as a GT6 demo, was available readily on the CAN store, but as ever, there's no real GT Academy for us. Its purpose is for comparing to friends, basically. I doubt we'll see a full Canada one this year either; if we ever do get one, it'll most likely exclude Quebec.

Ah yes, Quebec... Or as every contest in the world calls us "except where prohibited by law". Lotto Quebec doesn't get a cut? No Quebecer gets a chance 👎

Does that mean we won't see our times ranked? Even if I can't participate, I still want to know how I did. Or do I have to use a US psn for that?

quebec would be-able to compete as there is no prize$$ or item to be won. why canada cant compete is so we dont kick Yankee ass

You'll still be in the rankings. You just can't do any national finals.

Wow this is actually happening, Canada is in for once! To bad about Quebec though, I'm sure there are lots of talented residents there.

I hate being right... Why do we insist on isolating ourselves? (that's a rhetorical question, no need to answer...)

Yes, there are a great number of very talented drivers here. I know of one that is a great karter and GTPlanet member who will be quite upset to read about this!

Come to ontario, just for gt academy lol

This gave me a huge grin :D. I won't be trying to get in this year (health and lack of a licence) but it is great to know that when I can Canada is at least in. :gtpflag:

anyone know how many canadians are playing gt6? there doesnt seem to be very many at all on the leaderboards

The last GT5 TT I can find is in Dec of last year and there was 683. Mid-year there was about 2300. I'd guess GT6's numbers are far lower than that.

Haha...good news for Canada...sorry Quebec:(

Hopefully one or two Canucks can make it into the top 32, would be nice to see:tup:👍

Don't know the absolute numbers but I remember in GT5, typically about 1/40 people in a TT would be Canadian. You can see the numbers here:

but this time around you have to own gt6 to even participate, if i remember correctly, you didnt have to own the game in previous years. please correct me if im wrong.

Great to hear you guys are finally given the chance to compete. I couldn't be happier for you guys, a lot of talent that needs to be discovered.

Wow. It's definitely a good thing; but how did Canada (minus Quebec) manage to get in? Did laws change or did Nissan find a way to navigate them somehow? What changed exactly?

I think the reason we weren't in before was because they didn't want to alienate a large portion of out drivers (Quebec) because of their different gaming laws. I guess year after year of seeing all of us angry they decided this is better than leaving us all out.
