GT Academy Course Re-change Notice
Last Updated : Feb 04, 2011Share On February 2nd we had changed the GT Academy Round 2-1 course to the Eifel, due to corners being cut by some players on the original Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course. However we have found that it is also possible to achieve faster lap times on the new track by cutting corners and driving the car against the walls.

Though it is unfortunate to have to do this for the second time, to make it FAIR for all participants we have again chosen different tracks for the competition. The rankings for Round 2 and the Total Rankings have been reset again following this change. The end date of the competition will remain the same (Feb 6).

We truly apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused all of you who are participating in Round 2. We hope you continue to enjoy GT Academy.

Here are the new combos:

Rd.2-1: SKYLINE GT-R V・spec II Nür (R34) / Circuito De Madrid Course / Reverse

Rd.2-2: XANAVI NISMO Z (SUPER GT) / Rome Circuit / Reverse

You are kidding me! I just went there a couple of minutes and saw the new tracks ... what the ... came here hoping it was a glitch ... darn!

Wow, changed both tracks! It's now madrid reverse and Rome reverse.

I agree, this has now gotten sad. In other news, glad I spent barely 20 minutes on Toscana and took zero laps at Eifel.

LMFAO! Just signed into GT5 and saw this. So, people have 2 days for this round??? F*#@ing unbelievable. Who is in charge of this ridiculous mess? Although, I don't feel so bad for not making it to this round now. :)

What?????? Your kidding right! What is this GT Academy or GT BETA Track testing? Are they doing this so that they don't have to pay for beta testers to iron out the bugs on their tracks?

Are they serious, I didn't cut a lick of track and was still sitting 2nd in the region. So I get penalized this time. But hey maybe they picked a track that you can't cut corners. What's the new track btw?

To think I put in a solid chunk of my evening yesterday...for nothing.

At least I'm starting to get better at driving the cars.

And Rome AGAIN - give me a break! What are they going to do when people start bouncing that GT car off the walls.

I raced until 1am this morning and have done that 3 times this week!! All for nothing. I ran a clean 2:52.631 at Eifel at 1:10am and now its gone. Was sitting at a cool 28th overal in my region with allot of time to gain at Toscana and now thats gone too.

But the technique used with the R34 at Indy was much different than the technique used at Eifel. At least IMO.

LOL. I feel sorry for you guys. I think they got real technical after all those complaints rolled in. Sony probably stuck a foot up somewhere as well. Karma?

We can thank the cheaters, don't have to name them but it was the same few guys in the top 10 of Indy abusing Eifel as well. Losers. Who drives in the grass? Honestly.... 👎 I hope they don't make the cut because they hae no grass to ride in this time. I have my eyes on who will go to nationals guranteed, all of whom do not work for a mowing company.

It's odd to me that they don't just delay this until
next week, giving everyone a full week to run laps.

Sadly, this is a sign of the times. Why penalize those who were cheating, let's change the game completely; penalizing those who follow the rules as well. Again this had no effect on me because I stopped putting time in after Indy was dumped, but it's a bummer thinking about those of you who have put a lot of hours in...

Clean slate, go out and post some killer times now. Don't think of all the time you spent as a waste, but as practice to the peculiarities of the cars that give you the edge in the tight time frame you find yourselves in. 👍

John Deere is releasing a new tractor called, "Corner Cutter" with the slogan, "For the cheaters of GT Academy to enjoy".

This is bordering on comical at this point. PD should be ashamed of themselves for producing a game that evidently has more holes in it than swiss cheese.

I like how they got tired of the grass mowing that they gave us new tracks....with NO grass. Now let's see people use the walls to their advantage....

Just had an idea. We should call and complain, "Why didn't they do the same thing for Cape Ring?" Forget their schedule, it would have to be "FAIR."

This is exactly what i would have liked to have seen at least. Just start over next week and give us a whole week back.

I'm going to view the replays for both. I'll give this post an update afterwards.

EDIT: Ok, this is ridiculous. I saw both of the #1 replays and it involves going above the apex and also staying above the white lines. Not as bad, but still ridiculous!

You and I both... I've literally been practicing every day for 12+ hours a day since Monday and I was finally getting fast at Eifel. I'm a slow learner. 3 days to learn 2 new tracks and then post competitive lap times? Yeah, real "FAIR", Sony.

I feel bad for the people that have jobs and obligations and won't even get the chance to compete because of this. I'm about to rage my way to Sonyland and... do.. something? I think that's the worst part about this fiasco; we effectively have no say in what they do with the competition. I wouldn't be surprised in the least if they decide to change tracks and clear the leaderboard with 20 minutes to go on Sunday.

I bet the overall winner of GT Academy gets informed with 2 days before the 24 hour event in which he/she is supposed to be participating that the event has been changed to a 15 lap club race in "fairness". Fairness to whom, however, I have no idea. But that certainly didn't hinder them this most recent time.

Wow, what a joke of a competition. And only 2 days left to get a good time? I truly feel bad for the clean drivers. Why don't they just invalidate a dirty lap just like in the game, instead of screwing everything up and changing the tracks?
