My dreams of fast-tracking to the GT Academy are over - couldn't stick sectors together on the same lap (although nowhere near good enough anyway!). But if you are going to the Goodwood Festival Of Speed, this info might be useful (I am not a hardcore player so stand to be corrected on any of this!)

You drive a 370z using racing hards from a standing start up the hill
Wheel spin is a huge issue so short shifting is a must
Your time is invalidated if you touch a barrier but not the grass
...which means you can cut a little of the first two corners (where I lost most of my time!)
The fastest lap on Saturday was 46.3 - this was a good couple of seconds clear of second
You can have quite a few goes (only realised this after and booked a couple more sessions in quick sucession) - but I understand the top dogs were on there a fair bit
You can jump on an have a practise lap between the booked sessions but they were changing the setup to automatic for practice sessions
GT is available on a number of the exhibits but not all were using Goodwood and none were using the Nissan

The McLaren simulator on Monaco (running rFactor) in the Tag Heuer stand was very good so I'd recommend a visit there :)
