Round 1 of GT Academy, the ground-breaking competition that will give one Gran Turismo 5 player the opportunity of a lifetime to become a professional race car driver, ended on Sunday January with nearly 55,000 participants across the US. Consisting of three time trial events designed to test players' driving skills and mastery of the tracks using Nissan vehicles, Round 1 was just the first step in a series of online race challenges designed to discover the 16 best players in the country who will go on to compete head-to-head to become the GT Academy champion.

In addition to the main GT Academy grand prize, during each of the five weeks of Round 1, which was held December 20 to January 23, the top 20 fastest players with the fastest combined times on the national leaderboard will receive extra prizes. The fastest player nationally each week will receive one Playseat Revolution (Gran Turismo Edition) racing seat, one Logitech Driving Force™ GT wheel and one GT poster. The contestants that finish with the second through fifth fastest combined Time Trial Event times on the national leaderboard will receive one Logitech Driving Force™ GT wheel and one GT poster. Contestants that finish with the sixth through twentieth fastest combined Time Trial Event time on the national leaderboard will receive one GT poster. However, a contestant cannot win more than one of the same prize. For example, the fastest player during week 1 will win the Playseat, Logitech wheel and poster, but cannot win those prizes in subsequent weeks. If the same contestant finishes in the same winner bracket again during the competition, the prize will be awarded to the next person in line on the national leaderboard.

Below are the weekly winners for the prizes for each of the five weeks of Round 1. Please note that these are not the top 20 rankings for each of the five weeks, only the winners of the prizes, because players cannot win the same prize twice. Congratulations to all of the winners for their amazing performance. Each person will receive an email notifying them of their winning prizes.

Looks good to me. #1 each week gets playseat, 2-5 get a wheel, 6-20 get a poster. What doesn't look right?

People who appear twice on the list would have already received a poster the first time, so there should be more people further back that would receive a poster, know what I am sayin?

I think what they are going to do, is like with Hunk, he is on for two weeks in the top 20, so he will receive all three prizes, but for the extra week, they will go to the next available person, they just don't show it on that list.
 
Look at my name for example. I show up 2 times. Once in the top 5, that gets me a wheel and a poster, then it shows me in 1st. That gets me the playseat.

They might appear twice on the list but it's where they show up on the list that makes the difference as to what prize they won.

For the week that you won the play seat, you win for that week, Playseat+wheel+poster all in one week, so for the other week that you appear on the list, where do the prizes go? I thought the rules said they went to next in line.

I guess a better way to put it, is they said 100 posters would be given out right? Top 20 for each week get a poster, if they have already received a poster then the next fastest get the poster for that week. If there are less than 100 different names on that list, and the same person cannot get a poster twice, how can it be accurate?

Just like the guy who finishes 13th in the Nascar chase at least wins like a mil., the guys who were in the top 512 in the Nation but due to the regional top 128 didn't make the cut should at least get a kick in the ballz by Kaz. :banghead:

So I should get a wheel? Dr 3wide skill got rank 5 in week 4 so he gets a poster and wheel. Then he's rank 1 in in week 5 so he gets playseat but no wheel and poster. I'm rank 6 in week five so the wheel should move down to me.

This is the kind of thing I was mentioning earlier, I don't think its accurate and more than just the users listed will get prizes. Unless they give him a playseat, two DFGT's and two posters.

I finished 96th overall, I was like 110th overall and I went back the night before it was over to get into the top 100 because my understanding was top 100 would get posters, I guess they did the rules differently than we interpreted.
 
Hopefully they notice before they start boxing up the shipments and realize that they have 5 DFGTs and 20 posters left over.

It just doesn't add up???
