GT by Citroen - Drifting?

Hey,

So I've had this car for about an hour and I currently have the 126th fastest time in the world with the GT by Citroen on the Fuki Speedway F. But in order to even try and compete with the top times, I need to learn how to drift this beast of a car.

I checked the replay of the guy who has the top time and he seems to be able to drift it with such ease and keep the throttle almost fully on as he does it. I can't replicate this, no matter how hard I try. The only benefit I've obtained from it is using the brake and handbrake at the same time to slow the car down faster so that I can brake later going in to corners, and a little bit of drift to get round them has sped up my times too.

But in terms of his drifting, I can't even get close. My problem is almost identical to this one:

Any help from experienced drivers of this car is appreciated. Watch the replay of the guy who has the fastest time if you want to see what I mean.

Cheers!

If you can think about it. I believe that it depends on setup, line, entering corner speed , angle , countersteer, and probably tires. Video is appreciated.

Do you drift with Wheel or Pad?
I don't have a wheel, just my sixaxis. Does it make a difference if you have a wheel? I've been looking everywhere for the differences a wheel makes (apart from the obvious of having more control due to being able to make slight adjustments on the wheel and pedal which you can't do on a joypad). Because I've noticed that when you're using a pad, if you go to the driver view and press all the way in one direction when you're travelling at a decent speed, the wheel will only turn slightly (for obvious reasons). But of course this isn't necessarily realistic, so with a wheel are you able to turn it further? In real life, you would probably flip your car if you tried to hard lock your steering wheel at even 100mph.

If so, that would be hugely beneficial for drifting.

As for the setup, you can't use quick tune on time trial mode, and the GT only has AT. Apart from that are the obvious things of turning everything off and my tyres are S2/S2 which is the same as all the top guys use.

I'm now 90th in the world after a lucky lap, but still nowhere near getting the hang of the drifting.

Thanks, but the drifting forum hasn't helped me. Drifting like that is a different kind of drifting, that's trying to get as much drift as possible. All I need is some controlled drifting, trying to carry through as much speed as possible, and just using the drift to steer the car into corners. It's very difficult to explain unless you see it, and unfortunately there's only one video on youtube which has anything close and it's for a different track where drifting isn't as key, so you still can't really tell.

I don't really have my own way of making a video, except for about 15 seconds that I'm allowed to record on my camera, but that seems more effort than it's worth after encoding it as well.

But after doing a tiny bit of research it seems that using a wheel is the only thing that will get me faster than what I've currently been doing. I'm now 48th in the world (gold_warlord24) on Fuji Speedway F! I'm satisfied with the top 50 for now, wanting to get any higher is somewhat sad but hey, it's entertaining nonetheless =).

Thanks for the help.

Then if you can do the settings. Practice your transitional weight, try different speeds and probably lines.

Pad is like Sky and wheel is like Earth.- Big diffrent:sly:

P.S. I like to write words in diffrent colours :)

Codehook, your enthusiasm should get you where you want. I'm a wheel driver, and not that good, so I can't give any advice.

Anyone have a tune for the Citroen GT, I've searched here and google and can't find one setup. Also what are the best tracks for the GT.

Well, you can't use quick tune on time trial so I wouldn't personally know what are good tuning settings.

There's only one thing I would like to know if anybody with a wheel could tell me...go to the high speed ring and change to the driver's view, and when you're at full speed turn full lock. Does the steering wheel in the game turn all the way round, or does it stop after turning a little bit like it does when you use a pad? Anybody with a pad will be able to see this for themselves if they are at full speed and press left or right, the steering wheel will only move a little bit.

Does GT5P have the G meter? Or look at the tire as it countersteers. Usually, it was a trick for me to tell if someone was using a DS2 or Wheel in GT3-4.

Thats some awesome driving Rofajole. I'd be very greatfull if you would share your setup.

Did you finish first in that race? I just did about thirty laps on that track, I was the only GT and still came in last

Really ejoyed your video, and learned alot too!
