i'm designing cocpit based on a Playseats Classics...i already have Playseats Classic...it's a little weak construction...so i'm planning to strengthen and get a nice look! ;)

Great to see that community spirit. :dunce:

cagatayhh, welcome to gtplanet.

Nice attempt to get the spirit of GT in a cockpit. With a little more work i'm sure it would be a good promotional cockpit.

A couple of things to make sure you don't get into trouble with the mods:

1st, You have posted this in the wrong section, it would have been better in the steering wheel / cockpit section of the website. A search would have been useful.

2nd, Don't double post, edit your original post by using the edit button.

The render doesn't even do justice to an already shabby design! Sorry, I don't really like it (you did ask for comments!) Give me a stock "Fanatec RennSport Cockpit" or "Vision Racer V3" and I'll be happy!

If you are going to design something with detail elements like that, why not go the whole nine yards and model the entire lower half of the car (small scale of course).

I think that project is not correct. The Wheel support is not correct... too fragile for the FF strengh. Theres no support at all to make it more consistent... offcourse it will depends of what material you will use... but anyway i dont see it working very well...

Would the rear light work? what about the back up light?

jokes aside...

Go for it! Nobody is going to stop you, if you have been desiring it, Just Do IT!

But i think the hard edges might be a little dangerous... you really would have to wear a helmet playing GT5...

Good luck!

h-shifter is near of the seat in the right side...it's just an wrong camera angle...shifter is on air in scene...i'll model a holder for shifter...these are minor details for now... the concept of this design is priority for me...dear Viktor Navorsky; it's just a concept of design now ...i know it looks week ..strengthening and other construction parts aren't on work now,i will be developing every detail in order... and dear TokyoDrift; Fanatec RennSport Cockpit" or "Vision Racer V3 cockpits are pro cockpits as well...and the render is just for giving an idea...i'm sure when it finish,it will be nice look...wait for updates...

by the way i'll add this topic to this section of forum...thank you all!

Plus it looks like you have to grow a third leg (if your not well endowed) to change gear.

Lmaooo, nice xD

On topic: nice render dude, is that a DOF effect that you've used, most prominently in the third picture? I think you should remove that, if youm can, so we can get a better idea of the whole design. All in all it looks nice, however ( just critiquing) I think the GT5 theme could be incorporated more subtly that the entire side of the cockpit being it's logo. Could probably just stick with a coloured logo on the cockpit, however I love the GTR back bumper bit! Id buy that for sure if it had that.

However, theres one thing I personally feel it's severely lacking. Where are the skid marks?
/s

why not ;) placing a little switch to back of brake pedal could work;) actually i'm thinking to put just a fixed light to taillights...and of course i want to add light to LOGO...like a frame...i mean i'm planning to add light to edges of the GT5 logo...dear irnbrutwinturbo as you said,it could be a nice promotional cockpit...so just wait for updates...perhaps you can see this project like a finished project, but as i sad this is just a beginning ;)

actually first i was designing more simple cockpit consisted of simple plates like MDF...but i thought that i should add more characteristics...and when i looked to GT5 logo,it would be a nice side panels for cockpit, because ,the form of letter G seemed to me dynamic, and it fits to playseats...then i added the GTR characteristic...so the design is still under development...in this design, especially the rear part of cockpit is hard to manuftacture...so i might design this cockpit from just a straight panels ...

I think the designs nice mate, very original. Hope all goes well when/if you decide to proceed with developing it :)

auzzam.

That looks very cool! Don't listen to the few critics, as that is a top notch design.

If I may humbly add I think it would be a nice touch to use a piece of polycarbonate (Lexan) to tie the front fenders togeather. It would give you the option of using vinyl printed decals to represent the grill, headlights, and of course "GT-R" badge on the inside of the clear polycarbonate. This way the decal would be glossy and protected from scuffs, there would be an added dimension to complement the rear detail, and you could cover the pedals and most of the steering column. Just my thoughts. Either way overall very nicely designed, I can't wait to see how it comes out! :)

I must know though, how do you plan on achieving those contours in fabrication? Will you be using metal, composites, acrylics, polycarbonate, body smoothing compound (Bondo)?

thank you! FourusTwentius! i'm completing the part of between fenders...design changed a bit...i'll share in a few days...i hope you like that too...thank you again for your thoughts...i already think to add an transparent parts to cockpit...my work is still on process ;)
for the manufacturing; i'm thinking that i can use MDF or smt that it's plate...like i said,i changed the design a little bit,now it's more manufacturable...

I definately like the design! The back is awesome, but I think the front part needs some more Nissan GTR looks :D

thanks ;) yes i already did the front part more GTR ;) this pics are the beginning of the cockpit...i changed it little bit...now it's more manufacturable...i'll add photos in few days...

I dont like the humoungous logo... its way to much and serves absolutely no purpose. If your gunna go all out, just make a GT-R body all around it. That would look far better!

This would be very hard work to reproduce the shape of those body panels.
I like the artistic ability but dont understand the design idea of just side panels at the pedal section with huge open gaps, doesnt seem right.
Its like a Playseat placed inside a surround.

Massive GT5 logo is again quite silly looking IMO
Is it to be a Nissan GT concept or a GT5 logo based cockpit, decide what it is to be and focus on that and maybe add some GT5 stickers if you must.

Curious anyways to see how you get on

thnks... I already decided that ,it's both GTR and GT5 inspired...these gaps are filled now...this was just the beginning of cockpit,i changed it...i'll add pics soon, just wait...

Yeah, it seems that we will have to wait even longer (check gtplanet) :(
I'm going to buy a g27 when I'm going on vacation to New York, and I'll play live for speed while waiting for GT5 :P
