Hi,

I posted this on another website and it was suggested, by someone that uses this forum, that I posted it on here. I was not sure at all where I should post this so if this post is completely inappropriate then please let me know and I will delete it, or an admin delete it or tell me where the best place ot post it is and I will move it to there.

I started creating a site for me and my friends to organise racing leagues and races. After creating an initial version I thought I would go all out on it and make it decent. I got a lot of inspiration from the organised events here and thought you guys might appreciate it.

I have pretty much finished it and here are the features that I have completed.

  • Create a league allowing any car to be entered.
  • Create a league with as many car classes as you like (GT300, 500 etc) and allow any car to be entered into it and how many people can enter the class.
  • Create a league and restrict the cars entered and how many times that car can be entered.
  • Assign points to positions, 1st gets 10, 2nd gets 5 and so on.
  • Automatic calculation of standings. If the league is split into 2 or more classes different standings are generated.
  • When creating a race you set the local timezone of the race, users can the view the race time in their local timezone by clicking a button, makes it easy for people to find leagues with races that they can make.

Some other stuff I will be implementing is uploading a league image, a notes section for the league. Global stats e.g player with most wins, manufacturer with my wins. Stuff like that. Would you guys use something like this? And is there anything else I have missed that is important?

Here is a video of the creation of leagues. Signing in with 4 users, registering for the league and entering results showing the standings being calculated.

Again, If this is the wrong section to be posting something like this can you point me to where the best place to post it is?

Cheers

I think this is the place it belongs, if anywhere. Maybe it's more suited to interest checks, but that's up to a mod to decide.
There are lot's of leagues here similar to this, hope yours goes well, you may get some support from members.

What's the site then??
I think plugging one's own site is regarded as spam which is against the AUP.

Yeah it is a good idea would make running a series pretty straight forward by the sounds of it.But it would need to be really user friendly and quick to use as your target market is either people who don't have the time to organise a series or people who are not sure how.
Also even though you have things that calculate standings ect someone is still gona have to sit and watch a replay of the race, so i dont think its really gona save that much time. Also some people like to create their own rules will you have room for that (example there's a soccer championship in this forum which has very different rules from any other league).
And the main thing how is it going to be better than just coming here with like 15,000 drivers on this site at least you've got a good chance of getting 10 to 15 driver's in your league.
Also think this post should be in interest check as this is not a racing series but hey poop happens :D

What better place to organize a racing series than right here on GTPlanet?

I tried the website thing and it doesn't work. I also like how I've seen quite a few sites pop up on here using webs.com. Funny how I was the first one to use that site....
