I guess this would be the perfect time for Tangled Web to bust out that killer Viper shot...You know which one right?
Lets get some entries goin guys!
I don't think I've entered this in anything. If you think I have please let me know 👍

FINALENTRY

Shelby Mustang @ Beacon Hill

ugh....too blurry.

excuse me, that was rude...

Seriously., the GT40 has got to be the best shot right now. The Stang looks like a garage queen, the Buick is a junker (just jokes, but I dislike buick), the Camaro is good but seems generic to me, and the Viper is too damned blurry.

GT40 is winnar right now. and rightfully so. killer shot.

Note: sorry for being so damned blunt. But i suck at giving constructive criticism.

FINAL ENTRY

Sorry for the lack of a proper 400x300 preview shot, short on time right now, will try to have it soonish.

First of all, Nuno, what happen man. I would like to believe that is some problem when uploading the shot. The angle is great but the post production is exaggerated, and you can see weird artifacts all over the picture. I would like to believe that is imageshack fault.

Note: sorry for being so damned blunt. But i suck at giving constructive criticism.

Yep, you got that right. You suck at constructive Criticism.:P

I think (excluding the last two entries before your post), that the mustang is a winner. The angle cannot be all the greater, but the post production and the reflections on the car are amazing, especially the side of the car, that looks like a “mirror”, with very HD reflections. Also, good cleaning on the car and the rims are great.

The buick has potential for a good PMC Style shot, although there is no contrast in colours, meaning it isn’t a attention grabber.

The GT40, doesn’t grab too much attention either. The motion blur on the road is wrong (it should have curve blur, or no motion blur at all, with some lens or Gaussian blur in the background). Also the colours are a bit monotone, it doesn’t really stand IMO.

The camaro, I am not really found of cropping only a bit of the car visualizing sideways. If your going to cut the car, zoom the car and cut it half or more than halfway through. In the way the picture is shown, I would prefer to see the entire car shown.

With all the entries seen until this post, I would say it is a sure tie between ceiling_fan and Swiss entries.

Btw, I already have my entry done; I am just waiting for something that I can’t tell anything about.

To be honest Lds, I was expecting more of this week. This is a 2.0 comp, and frankly all of the shots are more of PMC entries level. I cannot see one very clean picture, do not be fooled by Swiss' shot since a noise filter camouflages the edges and dirty spots. Now, I'm not bashing any shots, but if we are to be very, very honest, than we must admit that the level of the entries is very different to those in the old days.

Now, I'm sure I sound like a know it all, and I do think I have the right to claim how it was in the old days since I've been active since then. I'd like to point out that I do not want to come across as a know-it-all, I don't want to use this post as to say "u n00bs!" or anything, I just thought I'd like to share my opinions... I myself still have much to learn as well ;)

And Swiss, no offense mate, it perfectly represents what I was having in mind with the theme 👍

I think I would agree with you Bram, I know I'm now not particularly active in the Photomode Realm anymore but things certainly were different back then, people really need a boost with GT4 to get more people into it again. Next week is my half term week, I'm (from the sounds of it) not going back to my Summer placement which means I have a free week (minus my birthday) so I'll try to do some shots which can be used but I'll be stretching my mind to remember how to do all the 2.0 shots!

I know my shot looked a bit blurry (I was thinking to change it honestly). Might use my right to change the picture once, if I find another good shot to replace that one of the Viper.

BTW LDS mate, weird artifacts, were?? Can you explain better, now I´m curious...👍
Damm I hate laptop monitors

@ Bram Turismo
I in any way wanted to call someone has a noob or anything. What I’ve done was to try to do a constructive criticism, based in some knowledge I have (that compared to yours and some of the more elders in Photomode (alex, sejtur, jacoja, beerz, and some others)) is equal to none.

I don’t claim that I know everything about Photoshop and 2.0 rule image production, but I would be a liar if I tell that I haven’t any knowledge in Photoshop. New members at Photomode/Photoshop will only upgrade their skills, not only with experimenting and messing around, but if we (more active in the 2.0 parts (you, NTX, Swiss, maybe me, alex…)) would give some constructive criticism based on the knowledge we have, has well has sharing some tips. At least I see it that way, and saw that way when I first joined Photomode. I always liked that more expert people in Photomode would give me tricks, tips and constructive criticism, about why my image “sucked”, or what I could have done, not only saying: “bah, that image suck”.

A apologize to everyone who got offended by my previous post.

I am the one that should offer my apologies Lds, I think we got off on the wrong foot here...

My post was not pointed at you, I was just trying to make clear how sad it is to see this part of GTP dying. Deny it or not, but compared to the old days back in 2004-2006, this place is simply dead. All of the big guys have departed, the only real 2.0 heads still around are...well...nobody. Not to offend Alex in any way, but just like me, he still remains with the younger generation of GTP photomode editting. It is as if the 2.0 side died, and all we have left is the PMC side. That's why I'm staying, to keep some spirit in the 2.0 sides of the comps...

I must have misunderstood it.
Anyway, moving along I hope my entry qualifies has a 2.0 entry, although it was made with a PMC styled Image, and I can see many flaws to it

Final Entry

I agree with Bram, when I joined in 2006...this part of GTP was crazy. Guys like Sejtur, Krame, Div is back, Slipztrem, Franz, Moglet, Arsenal...damm, it was Christmas day all days in here.
I´m glad Bram is here again, he is always a tough guy to beat, and he surely knows well 2.0 comps. I also think other guys like Atlop, Swiss, LDS, Musa, etc... are also guys that have a word to say, they sure know how to build a winner shot.
Of course if old school guys made a return it would be great (plus Cod Father, Jgda9rs, Speedster502, Rayquaza, Beerz) but I´m quite glad these "current" guys are here, they sure are hard to beat. 👍

The shot looked great before the noise! lol , thanks for the constructive criticism. Were there "dirty spots"? I thought I had a god eye, must of missed something (unless Im biased :sly: )

uh oh
staying out of pity? lol j/k. You add some fantastic competition and are a great person to learn from.

Final Entry

I enjoyed your "pmc" styled entry. Very few flaws. Great blur IMO. I think you got this one in the bag. 👍

I agree with Bram, when I joined in 2006...this part of GTP was crazy. Guys like Sejtur, Krame, Div is back, Slipztrem, Franz, Moglet, Arsenal...damm, it was Christmas day all days in here.

The shots of late barely hold a candle to the shots of the past. That's for sure. But the "next generation" is here, trying to carry on. Granted we could use a little help from the old pros :cough::cough: :hinthint: :D.
Having been here for about 10 months, I have learned a ton from a lot of people here, like alex,TW, Nuno, and LdS etc. I think I've thanked them enough too. :sly: if not...thanks.
But it's up to the newer people to try new things in photoshop/gimp. They also need to check out the tutorials. I don't mean to be rude or harsh in a ny way, but many shots in the past couple 2.0 weeks still have the watermark on them and don't look edited in any way. I don't know if its laziness or what.
Hopefully the 2.0 comps can get back the previous status.
I do agree with LdS that we should give the newer entrants more guidance(?) if you will? But it is two sided, no questions=no feedback.

NTX: fantastic improvement. Stilla little to blurry all 'round for me, but it is ALOT better than the viper. i don't knwo what happened with the viper shot, but it simply did not look right to me.

As for my "criticism", LdS: Like i said, I suck at giving criticism. One minute I sound like I'm sugar coating it, the next minute i actually speak what I think about what I am criticizing and come off harsh and rude. However, one thing I CAN say, is that your shot has excellent composition to my eyes, and also has a good transition from darks to lights. A few things I'd like to see that aren't there: more highlighted reflections on the car. The entire car seems as if painted in matte red. it makes it look...lacking, somehow. Also, the motion of the car seems muted somehow. it's there, but I don't get a real sense of motion from the picture. it's why I liked the GT40 photo. There is a definite sense of motion in it.

The reason I dislike Swiss' shot is because i tend to shy away from "garage queen" photos. action shots= better to me. Maybe I'm just retarded, I dunno.

However, ceiling_fan has a very interesting shot. It almost looks like it was done in watercolour paints. Very cool.the only thing wrong here is the car. I think the GT40 race car would've worked better, since the entire thing gives a "vintage" feel, so the classical GT40 may have fit better. However, it's still an awesome shot.

I can't comment on what it was like in the "old days" because I wasn't here. Besides, most of my photos are fairly elementary anyway, so I shouldn't really be handing out criticism either. All of these shots are vastly better than what i usually pull out of my ass anyway.

I tend to screw around in PS, but unfortunately, the more advanced techniques require more than that. I'd love to learn how to do the crazy stuff I see in some of the "hall of fame" shots, but, being that this is the internet, and being that i have spent alot of time on Gamefags, I tend to think some guy will come and start shouting "NOOB!" at me. That's not an insult to any of you, it's just something I irrationally think.

Now that’s a constructive criticism. 👍 👍 👍, I would give you a +rep if the rep system was still around. It was this that I was aiming for in my comment. A good, well balanced and open criticism, and you done it.

No, don’t do that, you opinion is has value has others.

One thing I would advise to you: Keep experimenting and see some of the tutorials posted here the galleries sub forums. And remember, everyone is a noob a everything and no one is a noob at anything.

I actually enjoy LdS's criticism. It really gives me a chance to learn. I never take offense to things like that. I agree with all of what Swiss said, we definitely need help from the more skilled veterans. This is my first 2.0 entry. And I pretty much did a "pmc" shot with noise filters and some smoothing out (although I need an immense amount of help with this.) And I deffinitely am a n00b and I do suck at 2.0 as of now. (And I've only been editing for a little more than 4 months. But I'm still learning and need everyone's help. By no means would I expect my shots to be anywhere near everyone's shots. I also need help with blurs, as LdS pointed out. And I've also been reading all the tutorials I can find, on and off GTP. So if anyone has any help to lend me for GIMP (or general editing), I would greatly appreciate it.

I've still got some GIMP tutorials laying around in my old and dusty gallery:

For a while I've wanted to organize a "GT4 photomode school camp" or something similar. The idea was to make an own thread for it, and once every 2 weeks I would make a tutorial for you guys, taking you form basic shooting, to time-consuming cleaning. The idea was then to leave the thread after the tutorial for two weeks to give you guys some time to practise and some time to ask questions if you guys need help. So every month, two tutorials would pass the production band. Unfortunately, interest of this board is unknown, and the time I have to do these things is limited as well :indiff:

Meh, I think that would be too much of a trouble. I know it could be fun and all, but I think the number of participants would be really disappointing. :indiff: You know, I think it would be better of if you make the tutorials and ask daan to update the Photomode/Photoshop Techniques & Tutorials thread. There is a lot of tips that everyone can learn there. 👍

Although I do wish Alex would make more of his awesome tutorials available to everyone. :D

Funnily enough Bram, I saved all your tutorials from when you were teaching me so if you want them back I can always send them to you. 👍

Hey guys, long time no see. Sorry I haven't been around here much, not having my PS2 and being able to take new shots means I can't really enter many competitions. I can enter this one though...

I guess this would be the perfect time for Tangled Web to bust out that killer Viper shot...You know which one right?

Great idea Swiss, finally I am not late and the shot fits the theme. Woohoo! :D
Here it is once again, the Purple Viper.
