got a question.does anyone have there force feedback on??I had mine set to 1 and on-line and off line and the cars steer like crap in the corners.they don't want to turn if going to fast in the corners.so I un-plugged it.and tried it and its seems to be alot better.thanks

Well I use Force Feedback set at 10, am not entirely sure I am getting the general gist of this thread though...

its like the steering is not as responsive with the feedback on.I guess you would have to try it with no feedback.the cars definatley seem to bite the road better.for instance I'm on my last race for the S class.and I tuned the mines car per another guy on here.he had a youtube video of it.when I tried to drive it the same as he did with the feedback on I would slide right off the road in the corners.with it off I could take the corners alot better.

I don't really know how to comment on that, I would find it to be the opposite I would imagine. But for there to be that big a change with the feedback going from 1 to 0 would do very little.

So, in other words, you took off the realistic feedback so you didn't have to fight with natural real-world forces, and now you can drive it much easier, like a video game?

Yes, it is easier when you do not have the game physics fighting your input.

It is more real to have to fight those physics.

don;t get me wrong I like the real feel.but (exspecially on-line) I can not get the cars to steer like everyone else.if I try to go through the corners as fast as they do with the same car I will slide right off the track.

Have you transferred the cars weight properly?

There are many factors at work to go round quickly than just having a good set up. And one of the things that helps is some sort of feedback telling you what the car is doing.

What about same setup, same approach, same ability? There is a lot more that goes into maintaining speed through a turn than just turning the wheel at the right time.

And looking at this you may want to consider turning feedback up.

Don't think of the feedback as the car fighting you, even though that feels like what is happening. That is the car talking. Read that information and find out what it is telling you it needs you to do to keep it smooth.

I mean, it could be as simple as you jerking the wheel too fast or turning it too far. At that point the wheels can not move in the direction they are pointing and they lose grip, causing you to slide wide.

Or it could be you feel the feedback and unconciously cram too hard on the brakes, locking your tires. There is a lot that can go into why you may be having trouble in turns with your feedback on. If you aren't reading the feedback correctly you could be doing it yourself.

FFB offers good deal on what the car is doing, body roll, brake lock up, etc etc.. it gives you all the feedback that you need to keep it in control.

All you need to do, just like rest of us is to Practice. You will be amazed your lap times will improve even better.

I always use the dfp with the feedback set at the minimum of 1 :sly: I prefer the feel of it and it's less strain on the old arms .. to each their own I say 👍

See Ron, turn the force feedback up, practise some more and you'll be the best driver in the world :dopey:

Why did you even bother buying a simulated wheel in the first place? There's plenty of other "ordinary" non force feed back wheel's out there, (madcatz) for example.

Why is the option to reduce the feedback in the wheel settings? they should have left it on a default +10 I suppose with no adjustment available?

Your statement is weak :sly:

You can use the force feedback for other things than just driving.
If you want to lose weight I recommend driving a LM car on the sarthe straight in GT4 with full feedback on and your belly resting on the wheel.
Who needs that weight watchers anyway...

You are a old grumpy basterd.

Now when you remind me about that La Sarthe wheel shaking thing... is it bug or something?

I have never seen anything like that in real racing in-cam shoots. There must be very poorly balanced wheels in GT4... no cars chassis could handle that shaking without going pieces.

Real racing shots from where? It only does it like that on that specific straight because you can get well over 200 mph on regular asphalt, not tarmac, like most tracks have.

Since that section of track hasn't been opened straight like that for quite some time (it has the two chicanes now) it is unlikely that you have seen in-car images of that.

Also, don't forget that the shaking is both acting to simulate wheel feedback and car vibrations.

hmm... I think I had that same shaking issue with every track where it was possible to have that 'shaking point'. Maybe I remember wrong, but I never liked those fastest cars because that shaking. I only did drive those which could not reach that shaking point after I met that issue.

What bothered me most, was that shaking started suddenly when I did get over some point of speed... not like shaking more bit by bit, like it would do in real. In GT4 it just started suddenly, and if you lifted gas littlebit, it stopped. I use only FFB10, so it was very annoying, cause my table could not stand still.

Edit: I also remember that it was possible to avoid that shaking by driving gentle from another side to another side of track... my wheel only shaked when it was in 'zero-point'. Anybody notice that way to get rid of shaking?

I use FFB 8, as any more, and my wrists would snap off. Having your FFB high really lets you get the feel of the car and what it is doing. On the higher FFB's you can feel the car understeering, oversteering, and just generally you find it easy to make judgements on how the car handles. Some of the FWD (except the DC5, Focus and very few others) cars handle awfully, you can feel why, as they understeer nearly all the time, and with TC off the inside wheel spins out of control. All because of a high FFB you can do this.

I have that steering shake as well on my DFP when I drive the F1 in GT5:P.... Do you have that as well??? I use FFB 10 as well, like you...

I never tested F1 with DFP, and I gave it to my friend who bought finally PS3+GT5P.

I need to take that F1 to test someday... I hope G25 wont do that shaking same way as DFP did in GT4. G25 is way softier than DFP, so I think it will not be so annoying anymore... I hope that shaking also is not so 'monotonic' like it did in GT4. I admit some shaking must be when driving those speeds, but it should be somehow progressive, and depended to bumbs on track etc etc.
