GT1 + GT3 Endurance Racing Series

I am thinking of starting a league of weekly endurance races using the GT cars. Simply because I am fed up being bashed playing online. It seems online play is in SU2 is purely how many opponents you can ram of the track and nothing to do about racing.

My idea is to get CLEAN and FAIR racers together in a series where the cars are more or less equal, and the races long enough to rectify any mistakes on the track. Races will consist of not less than 10 laps and depending on the track, probably longer. Racing will be Sunday evenings ( GMT time zone) and depending on interest, a midweek race.

Some general info for potential participants:
- you must be a clean and fair racer
- use Elite mode : no traction control
- ABS and driving line allowed
- manual or automatic shifting allowed
- tuning you car for the track allowed
- damage visuals only (for the time being)
- be able to participate on a regular basis
- abide by the rules of the series

I said this on another thread for this already. A check to see how online works should be done prior starting the series because I read somewhere online collisions detection may induce judgement errors on how one drives.

I know I'll always try to avoid contact but I'm a noob racing online and the last thing I want is to be know as a 12yr kid because of software errors (doesn't mean I'll always avoid contact obviously - I think its called accident :D )

It makes sense to do a trial race before continuing organizing a more permanent scheduled series. Accidents will happen therefore the races are longer. That will allow the racer who caused the accident to stop and let the unlucky driver who was taken out, pass. Being a longer race will enable both drivers to catch up then. Proper rules will be posted which everyone will have to follow or you will be kicked out.

The idea is fair gentlemen's racing. Seriously competitive but clean and most of all, fun
 
Well we wont know if it will work or not unless we try. I will host a trial race this evening at 8pm GMT (Sunday 22/05/11). Chat room will open at 7.45pm and invites send from there.

Circuit : Brno (as it is fairly wide and more room for error)
Car : any GT3 car (lets start with the slower ones)
Laps : 10 (+/- 25 minutes of racing)

Shall we give it a go?

I'd be up for this but until PSN store is up again I can access online pass again I can't participate. I'd be very interested to hear how the testing works out regarding collision.

The couple time I did race online with friends in Shift2 we noticed that damage is not the same as offline - basicaly there did not appear to be any! Is that always the case or had we changed some option without realising it.

Sorry for leaving. I hit a new bug (already posted in the appropriate thread)

I'm ready for another race.

Note to self: Be aware of cold tires on lap 1 (maybe more in longer races). Sorry for hitting you Zeeco_9 I really wasn't counting on it.

On the 2nd and following laps the car behaves so much better.

Also, the lag does not seem to affect the gameplay. There are no cars jumping in front of us or any other sudden surprises. 👍

Well the trial run was a great success. Thanks to Rom and Vaxxtx who showed up. You guys are fast and gentlemen racers. If we can continue on this note, I am sure we can organise a weekly league.

The cars are perfect for close racing 👍
 
Thank you for hosting. I'm hoping for a 12 car race... THAT will be close :D

I just ask for the "calendar" in advance.. I need to practice the tracks prior racing without the line. I know its allowed but it distracts me and I use it for learning the tracks only.

My neighbour lent me HP today so I could unlock the Cinque and the Police Reventon (both rule) and I only had limited online access because I couldn't use his code (obviously).

But in S2U too I only remember the code for the LE content... what are you guys talking about?

Anyway, the wait is almost over so, hang on.

I really don't know...it just asks for an online pass, whenever I try to accept racing invites.:indiff:

Real quick, do you want to combine our two leagues, Its pointless having the same type a league with the same people?

I agree, it will be better to have it all under one roof. I will keep this thread for just informal get togethers and practice races. It will be a good idea to have a more organised system with future dates, tracks, cars etc. Go ahead mate, I will join if it gets off the drawing board 👍

Speaking from past experience, I will advise you to set proper rules and regulations or it will become a waste of time. Hope you come up with something soon :)

Ok cool il send you my rough draft of the rules sometime today or tomorrow, aslo are you good with setting dates up to race, because that is the main problem, is finding a time were everybody can race. Also I will start a new thread with the rules and the list of people who signed up from both threads, tomorrow.

Laps : 5 per session
Circuit : Suzuka GP

Plan to do a few races with the GT3 cars and to follow with GT1 cars

PS: GT3 class.. I might have a go with a GT1 car but I don't know if its a good ideia :D

I bought game when ps store was down and it won't let me redeem my online pass till the store is functioning again.

I really hope to see my old friend (and new GTP member) TexasTyme on Sunday. We have been racing since Shift1 days. But he comes with a health warning guys. He is one VERY FAST dude, but as clean and fair as they come :)
