What is better? Gran turismo one or two?

GT2. It was almost as if somebody designed a game completely based around the cars and tracks that I love. While it is laughably unrealistic for a so-called "driving simulator," the physics are still a lot of fun. It's like an old arcade racer.

That said, GT1 was still a great game. GT2 just improved on that greatness.

GT2. By far. I can actually beat the AI in GT2, which I suspect is my own lack of skill, but the physics are better, the tracks are more numerous, as well with the cars.

GT1, just because it deserves to get a little love :P. GT2 is great as well though, but the original will always have more charm.

^GT1 has racing mods, too ya know. :grumpy:

Anyways, define "better". :odd: Each game offers its own features which one could say is better than the other. There was a huge thread about this awhile back. I can't vote on this thread because there's no option that says "neither is better than the other". That's what I'd vote for.

Tough stuff; GT2 has a staggering 500 or so cars and so much variety. I found, however, that when you race in GT2, the 'reflection' of light from the cars extended over to the ducts and tyre treads; which was hard to ignore once spotted. This wasn't a noticable problem in the original. The soundtrack of GT1, especially in the menus and such, were their best throughout the whole series here. When you visited the Honda showroom for example, remember those techno-tunes? Even looking at race cars and buying tyres was exciting! Also, let's not forget... SS11! Close call, but for me, the nostalgia value tilts my opinion towards the visionary original.

GT1 for orginality (aka Kaz's idea) and GT2 for adding alot more variety to it..no need to choose as i have played and enjoyed both for many years.

I like GT1 better, as I always thought GT2 was too restrictive. I did like the variety of cars in GT2, but you couldn't tune to cars to the max and race them in most areas.

If you're feeling a bit nostalgic, check out the 'GT1 Memories' thread in the GT1 forum. I gave out a link to a youtube channel which has most of the menu musics, including the dealership tunes :D.

Bottom line, GT1 was more fun for me. So, I vote for the original Gran Turismo.

P.S. Light reflecting over the wheel-well area bugged me, too. Not that I'd deduct any points from GT2 for that.
