This is a mini challenge dedicated to the 1998 British Touring Car Championship season. Pick one of the eight cars below and tune them to the prescribed kg and HP units:

1110 - 302 - Honda Accord SiR-T '98
1221 - 333 - Audi A4 2.8 Quattro
1177 - 321 - Vectra GSi 2.5 V6
1187 - 323 - Peugeot 406
1255 - 342 - Renault Laguna
1127 - 307 - Alfa Romeo 156 2.5 V6
1102 - 300 - Nissan Primera '98 / Infiniti G20 2.0Te-V '98
1194 - 325 - Ford Mondeo

Tuning Rules:
Brakes: Both parts are mandatory
Drive Train: Best Clutch, Best Flywheel, Full C. Gearbox, 2-Way LSD, NO Propeller shaft
Tires: Racing Hard
Suspension: Fully C. Kit
Others: Weight Reduction Stage 3 + Racing Modifications
Power: Upgrade Port Polish and Engine Balancing first, then use Mufflers, ROM, and NA Tune stages to reach the listed HP level for your car. Turbo kits are forbidden. All cars are optimized for 3.67 power-to-weight ratio, so try to match the power as much as possible. I quickly tested the lightest and heaviest car, both were equally competitive.

You can alter all settings freely.

How to Race?

First name your fictional team-mate. The progress of your team-mate in races depends on your progress. I will use a formula that will randomly decide by how many percentage your colleague will be faster or slower than you. This allows us to simulate fight for constructor points, and fill the grid.

On each track we run two rounds, a sprint round in one track direction and an endurance round in the opposite track direction. During endurance round you have one mandatory pit stop you have to take, but NOT on the first lap NOR on the second to last OR the last lap.

After each race write down all lap times and send them to me (@Matej ) via PM. Also submit down on what exact lap you entered pit zone on endurance event. Make sure to submit name of your driver as well (need to submit only once).

How do I Calculate This?

You and your fictional team-mate receive points for total times of both sprint and endurance rounds. In addition, consistency between two randomly chosen lap times will be judged for human driver on the endurance round. The first lap, and the two laps affected due to pit entry do not count for the consistency valuation. That's why you need to submit on which lap you visited the pit zone.

Round 1 and 2 - Rome Short Course

Round 1 (Sprint) - Normal Direction, 6 laps
Round 2 (Endurance) - Reverse Direction, 12 laps (pit window 2-10)

@VettelFan05 has joined the challenge and submitted his times with the Audi A4. Welcome!

I'm going to drive the Mondeo. If everyone else is interested, don't hesitate to join. The more, the merrier. :)

EDIT:
@VettelFan05 Where did you do your laps? In simulation mode > Test Run or Arcade Mode > Time Trial? Starting out is different, so I need to know where should everyone else do their runs for this first round to keep times consistent.

I just noticed the car doesn't slow down when entering a pit in time trial (arcade more). If you try to run through pit zone, the computer won't temporarily take over, instead it makes that lap invalid. @VettelFan05 Did the same thing happen to you?

I have PAL as well. I don't understand how's that possible.

But I have figured out where I'm going to do it. 👍

Everyone else, just let me know what GT disc you have and we'll work from there.

The results are up, check the first post! Team-mates who received random +% in speed will receive random -% in next race to keep the competition close.

The next round is up! If anyone is still interested to join, don't hesitate to jump in and complete the first pair of rounds. I can still update the results before we complete the next pair of rounds. I would love to see at least one more driver on the grid.

Round 3 and 4 - Apricot Hill Raceway

Round 3 (Sprint) - Reverse Direction, 4 laps
Round 4 (Endurance) - Normal Direction, 8 laps (pit window 2-6)

Run in Arcade Mode > Time Trial

Important Notice: We are doing Round 3 in Arcade Mode > Time Trial, and Round 4 in GT mode > Super Touring Car Cup > Apricot Hill > Test Run

@VettelFan05 has submitted his times.

C'mon guys, last time I checked real BTCC had more than two drivers fighting for a title. :D

I didn't notice that the challenge was running!

I will get my BTCC car and submit a few lap times. 👍

@Harsk100 Thanks for joining in!

You can also submit lap times for the first two rounds so that you aren't too much behind, just don't look at our times for a reference. :D

We did the Rome Circuit endurance round in arcade mode > time trial, but if you experience invalid lap times when going for a pit stop, do the round in simulation mode > test run, and I'll calculate how much time I'll subtract from the first lap (because in arcade mode you have a rolling start, and in test run you start from a fixed position, so you get slightly slower time when running in test run).

You're welcome Matej.

I thought that there is a deadline for Rounds 1 and 2. :/

EDIT: My lap times for Rounds 3 and 4 were submitted.

Not really, we do this leisurely since we don't have many drivers. 👍

Feel free to submit times for the two rounds at Rome if you want, that way none of us we'll be left behind. The sprint round should be done in arcade mode, whereas the endurance round in test run on simulation disc.

I'll start ranking the latest rounds sometime today.

Okay, will do the Rounds 1 and 2 now.

The new race is up. Until @Harsk100 submit his Rome times, I can't do any calculations, but at least you can drive and record times for the time when I'll get everything I need. 👍

Round 5 and 6 - Deep Forest Raceway

Round 5 (Sprint) - Reverse Direction, 4 laps
  • Run on Arcade disc > Time trial
Round 6 (Endurance) - Normal Direction, 8 laps (pit window 2-6)
  • Run on Arcade disc > Single Race (disable Damage and set race length to 8 laps in the option menu, select Easy difficulty to avoid traffic standing in your way)

Matej, in Round 2, should we do in Simulation Mode, in Clubman Cup?
You need to run the reverse version, races on simulation disc only offer normal one.

The best place to do it is on Arcade disc > Single race. Make sure opponents are set to Easy and that you have a 12 lap race with no Damage meter turned on.

Okay. I considered to do on Arcade Time Trial as well.

I know switching disc is painful, so both rounds at Deep we'll be doing in Arcade mode. I have updated the announcement post with all necessary information. :)

If you pit in in Arcade time trial, it makes your lap time invalid. I learned the hard way. :D
