GT3 Racing Online

I read it somewhere in US PLaystation April issue. No, I dont think it is an April's fool, but they probably said something about a future GT version, not this one. It was more like they were talking about GT4

How Class would that be? I've always thought GT would be the ultimate online racing game.

However i don't think the current phone lines could cope. Broadband (very fast net) is being introduced were I live (I don't know what you get in US). It would need to be fast to handle the speed of GT Racers.

Can't wait maybe someday we'll all be racing eachother Online UK, USA, Japan...... International GT Racing

D  Later.......

Same here, I have cable now. I am at 100Mbps. I love it!! Especially out here in the boonies...

I think it will become a standard soon. I think 56K is fading away.... Online racing will rock though. Cable can handle it though. I have a Delta Force Game that I went online and played last night. Teams of people shooting at each other and chatting at the same time. No problems with lag. Oh well, something to think about for a while I suppose...

I remember quite some time ago that a few Japanese guys had gotten Gran Tourismo 3 working over an internet connection in a similar fashion to the Xbox with Gamespy/gamespy tunnel. I remember reading that it was really quirky though. I don't think it ever went public (The software I mean).

I need to get a faster connection cuz this crap they call 56K just aint cutting it for me. Time to get something better.

True. They are probably talking about either GT4 or GT3 for PC. I can see GT3 running over internet on PC through something like Gamespy or Zone....That would be sweet...! Also, GT3 for the PS2 could be able to run over the internet through Gamespy if they wanted it to. I mean, connect like you do with Tony Hawk 3, but use GT3....

In the magazine I read this in in said that this would be for GT3 on a PS2 console. It said somethin like "Soon you will be able to race your Skylines against other people over the internet" or somethin like that.

On a non-related topic, when you qoute something, will it automatically add "Originally Posted By..." or do you have to add that manually?

GT3 itself will never be online, but future versions of the game (Gran Turismo Network) will feature online play.

If you click the "Quote" link under a post, it will add "Originally Posted By..." automatically. But, if you just type in the quote manually (with the quote tags), it will not add it. :)

... uh huh ... how much do you pay for that 100Mbps Internet connection? I could go for some of that action.

Hey, I'm on for $19.95 a month for the first 3 months. After that, since I don't have cable TV service with the company, I have to pay $54 after that a month, but I am ok with that. :banghead:

Cable internet is popping up everywhere now. I am finally glad that they have where I live. Funny thing about this is my cable provider is in VA, but I am in NC. Go figure!! :burnout:

Did you mean Coax cable??? Sorry it's not coaxial cable like satellite dishs use. That is only capable of 2 Mbps. My cable is ran from the pole, (waiting for it to be buried), to the back of the house, under it of course, to a hole in the floor in my room. From there, the cable comes up to an external modem.

All cable modems are external anyway. From that, I have 2 options, USB or network cable. USB is still fast, but you DO NOT get full speed capabilities with that. The cable that plugs in the external modem is a fiberoptic line. I installed a network card in my computer the weekend before the hookup was scheduled. I bought a 10/100 Mbps Ethernet card for a PCI slot.

Geesh, I suddenly get the feeling that I am teaching a computer networking class now....

Anyway, I used a CAT 5 network cable that I made in school last year to connect my computer to the external modem. After the connection was made, I quickly had all the speed I can get. The best part is, the broadband internet was just installed and released for the public here about 2 weeks ago. From the answers I got from the cable guy, I will not have to worry about slowing down any. There will not be a ton of people to slow the network down. I am so thrilled about that!!

Okay, I'm done. :burnout: Anyone have any questions about this, ask it here, email me, or leave me a private message. Thanks for reading all this.

You don't have a 100mbit internet connection. The cable that connects you to your cable modem is 100mbit ... well actually it's only 10mbit. Your internet connection is probably in the range of 512kbit to 1.5mbit.

Oh wait, that's right. Windows 2000 tells me the connection speed on Ethernet. I am actually at 100 Mbps though. CAT 5 cabling supports that speed, and my network card does, too.

I use Adelphia in Virginia. We all have to remember that everyone on here isn't in a centralized location, unless you classify Earth as localized!!

Anyway, I think I am pulling off from a T1 line, that is 1.544 Mbps. That is still plenty of speed for me!!! :cheeburga

Whoa, people are talking about internet con and i wasnt here....

I really need new pics dont I? I think i've made everyone jelous of these enough :D

Shouldn't there be a way to race online using the link cable port? Someone here had said something like that. There would be too much lag? Maybe someone will invent something that lets you race online with games that have the link cable option.

I've done a lot of online racing with Dreamcast.Racing online can be fun but there seems to be an unusually high percentage of bad people. People who go online to cuss or harass other people or just cause trouble. That's whyI don't race online much anymore.

I like to get online and play Delta Force 2, but there is always at least one cheater in every game....

They won't share the love either..... :( But anyway, I run across people that cheat and cuss all the time. Even with cable, I don't even chat much. Yahoo Messenger is dead also. At least for me it is.... :(
