GT4 and G25 not working

I have a new G25 on my PS3 that I can't seem to get to work with GT4. It works great in Dirt and GT5 demo but not in GT4. I can navigate around the options with the G25 buttons, but when I try to set up the wheel under any of the wheel areas, steering is greyed out and the peddles are not even an option for accel and break. When I get in to the main screen to choose arcade, grand turismo, options and such, my g25 won't navigate that area and beyond into the racing screens. I have to use my ps3 controller. The only thing I can think of is my 1st usb port on my ps3 is not working so I have my g25 plugged in to the second port. Could that be the problem? Please post if you have an answer. Thanks :(

Check your PM! I had the same problem and I solved it.

Can you not post this openly rather than by PM, please? That way others can be helped too ;)

I'm about to hook put together my new system with G25 and PS3 and would like to be able to play GT4 as well :)

Ofcourse.

Load GT4 but DO NOT CONNECT your controller (don't push the PS button on your controller) . Once GT4 has loaded and your G25 has been recognized by GT4, you'll be able to use the G25 perfectly. Afterwards you can connect your remote controller (push the PS button) .

Don't use the USB cable to connect the controller with the PS3, use it remotely. So it is very important that you don't connect your controller before your G25!

If you have a USB mouse, disconnect it from your PS3 as well.

Ok. I tried that and it did not work. I can get in to the game from the ps3 menu, but when I try to skip the opening movie or select from the options, gran turismo, arcade it doesn't see my g25 buttons. I have to turn on my wireless controller to get past that menu and in to the options area. Then my buttons on my g25 work fine but when I try to set up a wheel, the steering selection is greyed out like it doesn't recognize the wheel setup. Frustrating since this is a new setup with a Playseats Evolution, G25, and a 70" television. Thanks for the help.

I had the same problem as you, so don't worry, the G25 does work with the PS3 and GT4. It's a matter off time till you find the answer too.

After I posted this message, I tried it again and now I don't have to unplug the USB devices (keyboard, mouse) and I can push the PS button first. The G25 still works, but not the steering of the controller.

Maybe you have to do the same thing I did, unplug everything, except the G25, start GT4 and see what happens.

Did you save your gamedata from GT4 onto the HDD?

I did save the data. I played some with the ps3 controller and it all worked fine. Could you try and plug your wheel in to the 2nd usb port and see if it still works? I'm thinking that because my 1st usb port is bad and I have to plug the wheel in to the 2nd it isn't setting my wheel as the primary controller. I know it's a long shot but it's all I have at the moment. I must have restarted the ps3 20 times in different configurations and still nothing. Thanks for your help.

1st and 3rd USB port 👍 (work just fine)

2nd and 4th USB port 👎 (nope, doesn't work).

Did you update your PS3? The latest version is 1.93.

You might want to check and see what your controller is set to. If your controller is set to port 1 then your PS3 will read it and not you G25 wheel. Set your controller to port #2 and see if that helps. I have a G25 wheel playing on a PS3 and the only time I even turn the controller on is to exit the game. Port #1&3 will work for your wheel.

Now that you know that your wheel works on your PS3 try your wheel in port #1 again (without your controller on). If your port #1 is bad I would call SONY for a replacement PS3.

I already called Sony and they are sending a shipping box now. I'm not sure I want to live without my PS3 for 2 weeks though. Hard to send it off and wait for another when I just got my racing seat working. Thanks again for your help.
