GT4 bugs or what?

not to sure where to post this, Mods please move if needs be, thanks.

i've got a few bugs in my GT4 (pal) and its really starting to wind me up...

the first and most annoying bug is my B-spec driver, when coming up on a car in front (regardless of position), instead of slipstreaming and over taking, the B-spec driver will ram the car in front 2/3 times and slow right down before finally over taking (yes, i have "overtake" turned on in the race management).

the 2nd bug concerns Circuit De La Sarthe 2, my B-spec driver keeps hitting the walls at the 2 chicane sections of the track as if he's trying to drive on Circuit De La Sarthe 1. this doesn't happen on every lap, its every 5 to 6 laps, he just ploughs into the walls and wont come off of them until he's past that whole section...

am i the only 1 this is happening to, and is there a bug fix or update available for these??

thanks

YOu can overcome this by telling your driver NOT to overtake the car(s) in front. Bob will sneak up behind instead of ramming, but sometimes he'll still ram anyways. :grumpy: Anyways, when Bob gets close enough, you can switch to overtake, and he'll usually do so in a smoother fashion. Sometimes, he'll screw up, tho...

This means (of course) that you'll need to pay attention to what's actually going on during the race. No walking away from your game, in other words.

What level of racing are you telling Bob to use? Which race? Sounds like you've got your level set too high. I would use "3". And if he's still not able to drive without crashing, switch down to "2".

Or, you can be even more proactive than this, and switch down to 1 or 2 during this one section, but switch back up to a higher level at areas where Bob seems more confident.

he (Bob lol) still does it regardless if the over take is on or off, if the over take is off he'll come up fast on the car in front, hit them and then sit on their rear end till i tell him otherwise.

he does it on all of levels, this happens on the back straight while driving in a straight line, bob will attempt to go round the chicanes on Sarth 2, the chicanes are only in Sarth 1 (obviously) not 2  :dunce:

I have 4 words for you: Say no to bob-spec ;).

To me it isn't woth it, if you use bob, YOU will not finish the game, Bob will finish it for you.

Hmm. What race are you trying to do? Which car are you is Bob driving? What skill level is he at? I've only noticed him screwing up this royally when he's driving some really fast auto, and if he's got low skill levels.

The best way to B-spec is to start Bob or Beth driving slower cars, if he's not that experienced. Put him around a track, and raise the speed to X3, so he gets lots of practice in a shorter amount of time. His Machine experience will raise as he drives different types of cars (front drives, rear drives, etc). His Track experience will raise as he gets better at different tracks, obviously. And his Battle experience will raise as he wins more and more races.

**disclaimer: you really shouldn't be relying on Bob. Any human with adequate skillz can outdrive him any day of the week. Plus, it's simply more rewarding to do it yourself. I personally B-spec occasionally, just for a different perspective on the game, but 95% or more I'll do myself. :D

ok, well this my 2nd go at the game after i have already completed it (100%), he does it regardless of skill level and/or car, i only ever use Bob (lol) for the endurance races (i do get him to drive races i have already beaten, for cash and to get his level up) as i dont have it in me to race for more than 2 hours before i need a break, so after 2 hours, i switch over to bob and for some reason he cannot drive better than an amateur...regardless of his skill level :grumpy:

looks like my copy alone has these bugs *is confused*

No, the B-Spec driver is just as bad at overtaking as the AI is, so not being able to move over a lane on a straight to pass another car is typical for it. Also, the La Sarthe bug is well-known and (for some reason) unique to the PAL version, which is why Parnelli and I don't have that problem. I believe you have to raise the suspension to avoid the driver panicking or losing control over the bumps at over 200 mph, but if you read this thread, you should get more detailed advice.

This has happened to me only once with a Chaparral 2j. Bob was braking like there were chicanes there, but when he hit 120 mph, a Sauber Mercedes rammed me which sent me back to 180 mph. It never happened to me again.

Well I rarely use Bob... But will try to find out and I also have the PAL Version...

I think it's gonna be the same too... What car did Bob drove that time???
