GT4 for PS3???

Ok i have got an 80GB PS3 that i got Christmas 2008 and i was wondering if it is possible to play GT4 on it. I cannot play GT4 on my PS2 because the PS2 is actually scratching my disks and it is saying that GT4 has no data now. And i have heard about the fact that some PS2 games perform on PS3. So i am planning on getting a new copy of GT4, i was addicted to it, and it would be great if i could use the PS3 to play it on.
Please help.

No. The only PS3s that can play PS2 games were the launch editions.

Except isn't there some kind of reverse compatibility or something like that?
Becasue i went into the Playstation website and it said that it was possible to play it.
Is that still only for the 60GB first editions?

Gran Turismo 4 worked perfectly fine on my 80GB PS3. You should be fine. Mine was the edition that came bundled with MotorStorm.

If you bought it prior to August 2008, then you can run GT4 on the PS3, otherwise you can't. I got the final bundle on the BC PS3, with MGS 4 in July 2008

The generation and harddrive size depends on which region you live in as to whether PS2 games are supported.

In the UK (And other PAL regions), only the 1st gen 60GB models can play PS2 games.

The Wikipedia link somebody posted above will tell you which models work for the other regions.
