When I start the game up today it went just fine then when I clicked the track to go race it has this red clock and it's not going white. What to do?

It's basically saying "disc read error". Just reset your PS2 in that case, but if the problem continues you should consider either buying a new copy of GT4 or a disc cleaner.

I was really avoiding that answer  but Imma just buy a new disc.

Well, what's cheaper? A disc cleaner or a new copy of GT4? Or are there any shops that provide a disc cleaning service near where you live?

Not that I know of also I don't want to get a disc cleaner because what if that doesnt work?

Turn off the PS2, give it another try. Sometimes, the red circle will turn white and continue as normal. It happened to me for a few weeks last year. For some reason, it didn't happened again.

I'll tell you my story because it's somewhat involved.

I got a USED copy of GT4 back in 2007. Early on, while I was still doing Beginner races, I had the same problem. The red circle of death it's called. :grumpy:

Tried cleaning my disc. Tried cleaning the laser lens. Tried putting my PS2 slim on its side. Tried opening the hatch on the PS2 while the game was on and the disc still spinning. Tried closing the hatch with the disc spinning. Tried wobbling the PS2. Tried DROPPING it. :scared:

All of this had marginal effect.

Finally, I broke down and got a NEW copy of GT4. Ahhh. Haven't seen the red circle of death since. And as you know, I play A LOT of GT4.

I clean the new disc perhaps once a year (if I remember to), and haven't touched the laser lens. So it could just be a new disc you need. Let's hope.

Yes, but do you want to pay more than 2 times the price of a slim ?
Seriously, they are hella expensive on ebay.

Your best option is maybe a refurbished PS2. I got one and GT4 for 68 $CAD.

Once that happened to me. i opened the game and took out the disc, then put it back in and for some strange reason it worked.

Sometimes that happen, for me it works to simply reset ps2, but since i have ps2 with hard drive just like ps3 i don't have any problems with cd/dvd roms.
